I don't think Zoro is consciously aware that he goes easy on women. He very much THINKS he's about equal rights equal fights, but there's still a part of him that holds back. And that's not a diss on Zoro: most allies against prejudice still have some hard-wired coding that they're not even aware of that still goes against what they actually think. And sometimes it takes someone else to point it out before they're able to actually confront it. So this isn't Zoro being a sexist, it's Zoro needing to de-program himself more than he thought.

I think the way zoro treats Tashigi is supposed to parallel the way that Mihawk treats him, the first time he fights tashigi, it's after the humiliating loss that showed him how much he had to grow, which is what he did to her. This time, he sits back and lets her fight a monster alone for a while to grow stronger

Love how luffy didn't go with his usual happy antics, he is PISSED. Straight to the point, calm, few words...
There's an old proverb that I believe goes something like this: "there are 3 things all men fear. The night with no moon, the sea in storm, and the rage of a gentleman."

Nah alicia, zoro is a literal sanji. He has never killed a woman(not even one of the bounty hunters), all his interactions he underestimate them or dont even try against them. He has slashed and killed men. He is a Sanji.

?? does it matter if zoro had that backstory with kuina if he never actually went all out/killed women? he used the back of his sword, no haki, etc. There are videos out there giving a more in depth reason as to why zoro is actually more misogynistic than sanji and they usually give lots of examples and reasoning. I still like zoro but lets not twist it.

I just realized something with Luffy walking out of the garbage with Momo wrapped around him like that. I don't know if you know but that shirt he is wearing is the shirt boa gave him "one of her shirts" with Momo wrapped around like that it kind of reminds me when we first got introduce to boa with the snake wrapped around her in a similar way we see with Luffy right now.

I don't think he's sexist, but I also think his trauma with Kuina's death being such a bland every day accident gave him a subconscious desire to protect women even the strong ones. He knew if he went all out on Monet he'd have killed her easily and the idea didn't sit well with him. But if she continued pushing his buttons he would have 100% said. "Fuck it bitch you asked for it. I even gave you a warning!" But Tashigi stepped in before it got to that point.

I know the Pirate Warriors one has that feature. It also has one of Robin's special moves as the "Grab" from Water 7, but for female characters it's "Spank". Also Luffy is the only one immune to Boa's stone abilities in that game

Ehh I don’t think Tashigi has an overinflated opinion of herself.
From how she acts I think that she’s just so used to being underestimated as a swordswoman that she reflexively asserts herself and assumes the worst as a defense mechanism.

Yeah, Tashigi has had Zoro completely misinterpreted since they met. I don't blame her. She doesn't really know him like...at all really, and she's always thought that his "you look like someone I knew" line was a childish excuse. We can assume female sword-users face discrimination in the One Piece world based on Kuina's backstory, so it's pretty believable to me that Tashigi would just assume Zoro goes easy on women because of their brief interactions.
The unfortunate thing is, I've seen a few viewers think she's right? They'll point out that Zoro actually hasn't fought many women, and that when he has, he hasn't exactly gone all out. I seem to remember him also acting aghast at someone for attacking one of the girls (Zoro: "She's a woman!" Bad Guy: "So what?"). But I still think it's a weird take, especially given Zoro's backstory with Kuina. There are plenty of strong women in the One Piece world, and Zoro's not going to go all Sanji and not attack them if they're his opponent.
For once I almost feel like they SHOULD have added a flashback to the episode, showing Zoro's conversations with Kuina, to remind people who may have forgotten the basics of his character after 600 episodes. But at the same time, if people don't get it by now, that's on them.

TOEI may be padding the hell out of these episodes and this anime era might not have the best quality, but I respect them for re-shooting the old flashbacks in HD instead of reusing old 4:3 footage (though sometimes they also did that).

You didn't need to explain that, you are risking a ban, be careful. I'd advice you to delete your post. The only info so far that the anime omitted was that Smiley had a devil fruit, the rest will be explained in time.

A quick info for devil fruits as its not really mentioned in the anime devil fruits manifest themself when their user die, the "spirit" of the devil fruit go to the closest fruit of its kind. example: Smily had the lizard lizard fruit model axolotl and is represented by apples. reason why Ceasar left the apples in the cart was for the fruit to be reusable. this is as much as I could say without spoiling the arc or more of the series as there are events at the end of this arc and a bit further that are still debated in the fanbase.

Something people often forget is Zoro has only ever used the back end of his sword on women. Miss Monday, he beat her with his bare hands but "cutting" he sees as killing. While he doesn't see women as lesser than men, he does however see them as more fragile due to his unfortunate experience with Kuina. I don't even think he was aware of this until Tashigi brought it up. It's more of a trauma reaction hence the line "There are things even I don't like to cut." However he also indicates that he WILL cut a woman under certain conditions (unlike Sanji). Like maybe finding an equal in swords mastery or someone who pushes him far enough. I do believe if Tashigi hadn't stepped in Zoro would have 100% took her out with Haki himself.
