Star Wars: A New Hope Episode IV

:D AND SO IT BEGINS!

Comments

This was probably my favourite reaction I've seen you doing, it's actually really refreshing to see you come into this with basically zero knowledge of star wars, and all the theories and perspective from a newcomers point of view were really fun. Have a nice day, and may the force be with you ^_^

Kyllix

You should definitely watch Indiana jones those movies made Harrison ford one of my favorite actors

Robin Noble

Fun Fact for any StawWars newbies: The music you hear in the cantena is canonically called Jizz, and people who play it are called Jizzwailers.

Rinthewolf

Alicia really is cute and endearing with how energetic, observant and generally cheerful she is. I’m happy she’s enjoying Star Wars so much. It would be really cool if she did end up watching The Clone Wars, but you should know that’s a FAIRLY LENGTHY project.

Noah Weathers

Don’t forget the entire original Expanded Universe: a dozen or so games (before even the prequels came out), dozens of comic books and a few hundred books, all based around the OG trilogy. But yes, aside from like the Star Wars Christmas special, not a lot of other movies or tv around Star Wars until the prequels

KodeShikou

i do love that its set up over and over that the computer can't make the shot

MenacingScone

I love the detail that Han and Luke ditched the armor but kept the utility belts

MenacingScone

I wish they never added that one back - it's redundant with the better Greedo scene

Rhodair

In the scene with Jabba, originally Jabba was a human dude in the scene and when they re-released the movie they changed the human into the Jabba that was later in Return of the Jedi. The reason Han Solo steps on Jabba's tail is because in the original Han stepped up on a cable and they wanted something that would fit with that sudden vertical movement.

Kinji

The old 90s TIE Fighter space sim did it right. You weren't the bad guy, you were just dealing with chaotic terrorists. And maybe doing some secret missions for the Emperor on the side. It was great.

fizzlefist

The empire just needs a good PR department and they're not the evil empire. "Death Star? That's rebel propaganda, the new Imperial Mobile Mining Platform can turn an uninhabited planet into an asteroid field for easier access to the rare elements we need. Alderran? Never heard of her."

Technical_Analysis

I literally thought of veritaserum too, but didn't remember it was from harry potter

Dru Foytek

Not the over analyzing of lightsaber thickness lol

Karatsuki

best droids are R2-D2, BD-1 and HK-47

Petter Uppvall

Mark Hamill is stil the best joker

Petter Uppvall

Fun facts! Star Wars was 3 million dollars over budget, and George Lucas secured funding for the movie by agreeing to not be paid at all, except getting the merchandising rights... Star Wars became the first movie to generate metric megatons of merch sales.

Lonjil

The opening scene to this is honestly so much funnier once you watch rogue one

The_Spud_Player

exactly.

N00B

The prequel trilogy had good ideas with bad execution. Given more room to explore those ideas better with outside content people can apreciate them more.

Joel Sasmad

There is a funny thing about it. The Sequel Trilogy Changed Luke entirely as a character way too much. Han was pretty much regressed to who he was before the orignal trilogy ignoring all his development. Leia was actually treated the best of the original cast by the sequels.

Joel Sasmad

Leia is the og baddie absolutely love her it’s a shame that the sequel trilogy never gave her a proper send off. Then again with how bad the sequel trilogy ruined what the og films established I’m glad they didn’t try would’ve down Carrie Fisher dirty

Nightmareman99

To be fair, slaving droids is pretty standard practice galaxy-wide. They weren't *notably* bad people.

Aubrey Bryn

Also, if any planet is too be destroyed, it couldn't happen to a better target than Alderaan. You can't walk 5 feet without bumping into some pompous noble prick or a giant, mind-controlling bug. Sure, the landscapes are pretty, but the inhabitants are the actual worst.

0th Law

Honestly... I'd argue that the Jawas did plenty of things wrong. It's abundantly clear that most, if not all droids are sapient, and those Jawas go about capturing and selling them. They're fucking slavers.

0th Law

Star Wars Episode IV Luke = 19 years old Leia = 19 years old Han = 29 years old

J-Rod

it was supposed to be a book serries but the book was not good

Lance Ivy

my favorite peice of star wars trivia is that the actor in chewys suit is reading chewing lines in english on the set ....with a proper english accent .... so everyone who is supposed to understand him can act around him propperly . and you can find the set recoding online of just posh brittish chebacca

Lance Ivy

i am over here like " sodium pentathole " and she goes MK ultra lol

Lance Ivy

It was at the time episode three came out though. That was the point. It explained why Grievous had his cough. The series ran bergen movies 2 and 3. Just cause it's retroactively non-canon now doesn't invalidate it.

GlamourGhost

You GOTTA react to Spaceballs and Robot Chicken Star Wars as well. They're amazing parodies.

Nikolaus Trixner

my favorite soul cal is 3 and it kills me so much it is so hard to find and play now.

Lucifer Moon

The biggest irony in Star Wars is that the original trilogy is considered the best one, yet its the prequel trilogy that has bred the most content.

N00B

If she does, she should also check out the 2003 Clone Wars by Genndy Tartakovsky. Its only about 40 minutes total, but damn is it amazing.

N00B

I saw this when I was little and it came out in the theater. It was so amazing I saw it 7 times. Lines for tickets were so long they wrapped around the entire theater building!

jGazMom

There is a wonderful parody from 1997 that changes this whole series. Star Wars Cops Parody "Troops".

michael holmes

Fun fact about the actor who played Obi-Wan (Sir Alec Guinness); he actually hated the role because it was the only thing people knew him for, even though he was a rather accomplished theater actor. A kid asked for his autograph once, and the said something akin to "only if you never watch those movies again."

Matthew Snedden

If you are gonna react to the Clone Wars series after the movies just note that it takes place between Episodes 2 and 3 of the Prequel movies

Donald Armstrong IV

I just looked up the guide after I typed it, she really would. They have it mismatched all over the place. Look up Clone Wars Chronological Order and see that list. There are stretches where they go in sequential order in the season, but then skip right to another season. Like first few episodes in order are from Season 2 and 3, then the animated film, then into the series proper. It's crazy.

Game Wizard001

If i remember correctly, its just the first 2-3 seasons really had the anthology style going, after that she wouldn't really need a guide

MrYourgurt

If and when you do get to Clone Wars animated series, make sure to look up the Chronological Order of the series, cause they released episodes out of sequence.

Game Wizard001

Unsure if she was watching on Disney+, but she asked about the model work at the beginning and the streaming site has behind the scenes extras to watch.

Game Wizard001

About the force and what you were talking on when the rebel leader said "May the force be with you." Yes, it's kinda religious thing, but force is like Ki in Dragon Ball, everyone has it, but only few train to use it. Or that's how I have always seen it.

V_VMat

Alicia calling Vader 'daddy' the moment he shows up 😂

V_VMat

There is something magical about someone seeing "binary sunset", arguably the most iconic scene in cinematic history, for the first time.

Sina

This brings me back to when I watched this my first time lmao

Grumbledor .

I did always wonder why they started with 4? Is does seem kinda cool though. Imagine you go to a movie called “Star Wars” And is says episode 4… like WHAT?!? Ok I’m in! You gonna just throw me in?

Fobbles

When I was a kid I saw the third Star Wars movie in theatres. Later on in life I saw the first ones… and was VICIOUSLY comfused at why the quality was so much lower???!! 🤣

Fobbles

I want a tramp stamp of the targeting computer from the trench run with "Stay on target" right above it.

Porpoise Power

Remember, if you do use your lightsaber as a dildo, CLEARLY LABEL the "Deadly Buzzy" and the "Happy Fun Time Buzzy" buttons. Trust me you don't want to get them backwards.

Porpoise Power

DIDI YOU KNOW: The scene with the Sand people where Luke was attacked, the actor in the sand costume threw out his back in the scene, the reason it looked like he was 'emoting' was because they shot other scenes and used a sand people war cry scene to pad out the fight.

Shrapnel

It's so wild for me that anyboy could not know anything about Star Wars given how fucking big the franchise is... but it's really refreshing. Quite enjoyable to see some legit reactions to these movies.

Miguel Aarón García

Tatooine has two suns rather than two moons

David Willard

love it

MoD+

Fun fact: The genre of music played by Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes (The cantina band) is called Jizz

ShreddedNinja

fun fact there tech for ships is good scanners and Rader leave much to be desired

nick bunston

Thank you

Aaro Tiljander

That is true hahahah. The fact that anyone hasn't seen The Lord of the Rings, that is insane to me.

Malick Glemarr

A lot of those things were added in 1997, but there were also changes made in 2004 and 2019.. There will also be no Yub Nub in Return..

QuibblesAndGitz

Well, no way that doesn't require somehow splicing in a VHS player lol

QuibblesAndGitz

Tbf, most "sci-fi" is fantasy in space, especially now.. That said, how she hasn't seen the origin of modern fantasy that is Lord of the Rings is a mystery lol

QuibblesAndGitz

My meaning was that back when the prequels (1-3) came out there were a lot of flame wars arguing if they were any good, but Every SW fan loved the Original Trilogy (4-6) It was only with the Disney sequels (7-9) that "fans" started claiming the OT wasn't that good to begin with

QuibblesAndGitz

machete order please! you wont regret it!

Danny boy

Bro get out of everyone's comments 💀 I never said I had a problem with her yapping. If you had any reading comprehension you'd know my issue was with coma not knowing when to stop talking. Multiple times where Alicia is quiet trying to listen to what's being said and he's just making unfunny comments.

Santi

I love the first three the last one was really good

HeavenlyNoomba

As i said, out of tatooine (there's also girls at the bar)

Faroth

What an awesome reaction! I stayed up until 3am watching this and I had work at 8am! 🤣🤣 I definitely felt it later in the day, but it was worth it to get to see both of your first reactions to Star Wars! I grew up as a Star Wars super fan thanks to my grandparents showing me the first three movies at a young age. I may own somewhere around 120+ Star Wars novels and have read plenty more, plus the comics, video games, etc. It truly was an obsession for many years, until Disney did its thing, but it is really cool seeing someone fall in love with the characters and world even still all these years later.

xsithspawnx

1:44:34 Bonk (on the right)

Hakuna

Yeah but I like it so it's Canon in my heart

Smeef Branson

she can't watch the originals there's literally no legal way to

Harper

If you make it all the way to Rogue One, the reason Vader knows Leia is a Rebel is Histerical, and she's got Nerves of Steel, Goddamn.

khaliqtessi

I have nothing about the talking - like i said i like the process of the way the watched it - gotta admit 1 or 2 times internally i was like stop yapping and concentrate on the scene - but i know its just cause i know every second of the movie and want them to experience it to the fullest - tho I cant blame em when i watch movies with my friends on the couch we also talk to each other - so im very happy with this and how these 2 got their first proper star wars experience <3

BamBam

Is this a first time watch? 👀

khaliqtessi

Man, It's so rude to say that Alicia should exclude her friend just to appease your tastes

Leticia

no pretty sure the "anime star wars" is the star wars anime aka "Star Wars Vision" Unless he meant like the cartoon series then yeah prob that or the 3d clone wars Sucks that Gennedy Tartakovsky's series is non canon because if it was canon I would 100% recommend her watching it

WillGlacier

Obligatory "Han shot first". I'm sure you will get hundreds of comments explaining that, so no need to elaborate :D.

leviathan_13

I like the take that says that the disbelief people have in the force and in the Jedi "now" just show how much the empire dismantle that culture. Plus, I got the feeling people were already skeptical of the Jedis back then, but let's avoid elaborating on that to avoid spoilers. It's just a sensation anyway.

leviathan_13

Nah he's fine, if you don't like just don't watch it bro, simple... She's not watching without him

Douglas Ribeiro

1:02:25 wait is coma talking about san holo, the edm ARTIST? Because if it is, that's so funny 🤣

Douglas Ribeiro

Actually I like it very much

Leticia

Are you slow? When did I say I don't want yapping

Corey

The “anime Star Wars” koma was talking about is probably Gennedy Tartakovsky’s mini-series Star Wars: Clone Wars. It’s really good and free on YouTube.

unknown organism

Is it bad that I got a bit emotional at the end when you were talking about the commercial success of the movie? I am a lifelong Star Wars fan, so seeing someone experience it for the first time and loving it, made me a bit teary eyed.

KingSnitchGaming

If you can't even call him by his name you're opinion has no meaning, stfu. Besides it's reaction content, if you don't want yappin' then go watch the actual movie instead, stupid

WillGlacier

same it's so fun I also hate the amount of people in the comments bitching about them even talking. Like YOU paid for this REACTION content, if they don't like it they should watch the actual movie instead

WillGlacier

Guess you didn't watch the intro because she literally said she WANTS to watch it release order since it is the way it came out in cinema (Which is good since this way the plot twists will actually feel surprising)

WillGlacier

I highly recommend watching the animated series after Star Wars episode 2 also you should watch it in order of not release but timeline wise I'm sure you can find a Website or video that tells you the proper order of Star Wars the clone wars animated series

matt

It's not canon to the story tho

WillGlacier

i love the progression of just joking around and making a joke every 2 sentences and vibing to - beeing so into it at the end - u can hear them less and less yapping and just stopping to analize and becoming one with the force - love seeing ppl watch star wars for the first time <3

BamBam

What about Aunt Beru?

The_ToG

for the people bitchin' in the comments about them talking, YOU paid for reaction content. Go watch the original movie if you don't want reaction content in your paid reaction content, stupid !

WillGlacier

No Knowledge what so ever, surprised me and a ton of other people. She hasn't seen Star Wars or LotRs (Which she will be watching next month). So keep an eye out for that

The_ToG

Fun Fact: Episode 4 was added after. It released as 'Star Wars' without any added subtitles or episodes. I forgot when it was added though

The_ToG

Ngl, I think my mistake is that most of what I know from the old republic HAD jedi in it so obviously if you are watching something where either a jedi is the main character or the main character is allied with the jedi, there will be more of a jedi presence to the story vs if you are just some random mf on some planet not associated with them

WillGlacier

Yeah, the Creatures were added by Lucas in one of his Special Edition Re-releases, editing over the Original movie instead of alongside of the movie

The_ToG

They can't watch the original because Lucas edited OVER it instead of making a copy of it and making edits alongside it, which is sad honestly cause it ruins preservations

The_ToG

Fun fact about the Side Comic: it was always non-canon, it was made as a parody comic

The_ToG

Jedi were also very rarely deployed to outer-rim planets due to the Republic’s general neglect of everything other than the core worlds and a handful of mega-corporations.

unknown organism

Wow you are toxic..-_-

Anton Babin

Stfu if you don't wanna hear people talk in a reaction maybe don't pay money for a reaction video and instead pay money for the actual movie instead

WillGlacier

Really? I swear I heard he was around 11-13 when it first officially fell. Bad sources I guess

WillGlacier

Han was somewhere between 5 and 7 when the republic fell and obi wan was the first jedi he ever met. Also if i recall the empire pretty much churned out propaganda to make the jedi seem like a bunch of frauds, but also Lucas just didnt have the lore for all that lol

Lonnie Guillory

Real quick, and no offense to Alicia when she talked about the whole force religion thing after Han's comment on the force, but MAN is he STUPID Bro LIVED during the Republics era, there were so many Jedi's just walking around, using the force, doing Jedi shit. Like how can you NOT believe the force when you literally lived through the time where Jedi were at their peak

WillGlacier

You have now met the single most foulmouthed character in any movie, R2D2. He is so bad that they had to bleep every line he says.

Miklar Sihn

I’m so excited for you both

Uncle Urdnot

well thats not nice-_-

Anton Babin

No need for the guy to try and say something funny every sentence

Corey

Funny how Kloma talked about how the planet reminded him of the sand planet from Dune, because it is ! Star wars was inspired by the Dune novels Tbh A LOT of stuff in Star Wars is directly inspired from Dune. Everything from characters, planets, story arcs, powers, technology, creatures, etc. it is insane lol 35:25 HOLY SHIT HE SAID IT! HE SAID THE THING! LET'S GOOOOOO !!!

WillGlacier

I would absolutely love to see your reaction to the animated clone wars I think you’d love it

Nathan

you meen the sequel trilogy EP 1 -3 is flawed but it was still a part of the naritive that was built from episode 4-6

Tor Andre Frantsvaag

There was plans for the whole first trilogy for if the first one would be a commercial success (and well, we know how that went) But thats why the first one can stand on its own (it was only calles Star Wars on release, without the episode number and "A New Hope"), the movie was very unchartered territory so they kinda had to prove that people wanna watch stuff like this. Also, if you are wondering abt some of the creature design like Jabba and stuff seeming kinda modern, this was actually the rereleased version from the late 90s where they were able to clean some rougher stuff from the original with digital effects

Lucas_Oreki

The Genndy Tartakovsky Clone Wars is a masterpiece, it's been compiled into one video on Youtube, I highly recommend watching that version before the 3D Animated series first. It's quite short, more like a miniseries. It takes place between the 2nd and 3rd prequel films.

SNESgirl

About if this was originally going to be trilogy. I believe George Lucas wanted to, but considering how much work it would require, this being his third movie and, if i remember right trilogies were not really a thing back in days, he and his then wife (now ex-wife) made this movie that could work as only movie set on this universe. Rest is history, as they say. It cost around 11 million dollars to make, its box office was 775,4 million dollars. "Adjusted for inflation, it had earned over $2.5 billion worldwide at 2011 prices" -Wikipedia Fun fact: When Mark Hamill came to set, he assumed Harrison Ford would had been lead actor.

Kampela

Tattooine is indeed inspired by Dune (Arrakis)

Shank Mugen

Shut the f up

minimoj16

it obviously is lol

Christian Clark

The clone wars is such a good fucking story and i hope you get around to it, it tackles most if not the entire war is worth the watch

AyatoMisubi

i actually do hope alicia will consider it and we will not see him in the future episodes and please dont take it wrong, i love his comedy when they play things like monopoly or smth, but here, its just annoying:/

Anton Babin

Duuuuudeeee I remember being a little kid watching this with my mom and siblings, she LOVES the old star wars movies

WillGlacier

bro ofc she yaps it's a reaction video, if someone wanted to watch it yap free, watch the a REWIEV of it or just watch the movie yap free. I PAID for these yap sessions lmaooo

WillGlacier

alicia may be a yapper, but atleast she knows how to be quiet during times of diaogue and important story beats. coma doesn't and it gets grating

Santi

You need to watch the clone wars cartoon, it is amazing. Great reaction as always too.

Gildarts1#fan

fr bro was yapping nonstop. couldn't go a single minute without trying to insert some attempt at 'funny commentary'

Santi

With Disney owning it, there is far more money in selling out to Disney.. It's also never been trendy to hate on the originals! That's only been a new thing with the new Star Wars fans

QuibblesAndGitz

hey Alicia I'm super excited for you to react to Harry Potter in the future if that's in your plans! I hope if/when you do, you'll make your stance on JKR and transphobia clear at the beginning of your videos. as a trans woman online, it's a huge sign of safety and camaraderie that we can all enjoy the amazing movies without paying lip service to the awful woman who wrote the books. sending you love and support!

Harper

cant hear the movie bcs of coma, he is so annoying...

Anton Babin

Also messed up fact George Lucas told Carrie fisher to not wear a bra during her scenes saying that it messed with the characters outfit design

James Fernandez

MK ultra was a top secret project that the government used to create sleeper agents for spying on the enemy it mostly involved torture to brainwash civilians

James Fernandez

1 hour 36minutes - Han trying to speak over the intercom and going sneaky... thats me trying to go stealth in most games.... I start off until i fuck up and I'm seen... starts blasting. It was boring anyway

Christo Badenhorst

Quick, Alicia, sell out and make that easy Star Wars hater money!

Patrick Thatcher

I love that you commented about that r2d2 being picked instead of the red droid is so lucky. There is actually a side comic (that's probably not Canon anymore) where it is revealed that the red Droid wad force sensitive, saw into the future, and realized that r2d2 NEEDED to be chosen there. So he used the force to fry his own circuits and sabotage himself.

Smeef Branson

I like how at the end you say "I'm more into fantasy" Star Wars, at least the original movie was a fantasy set in space. It is a farm boy getting taken under the wing of a wizard and saving the princess from the fortress of a dark lord with the help of a rogue. It is a straight up fantasy movie. It just happens to be set in the future (a long time ago) and in space.

Malick Glemarr

The best order, to me, is original trilogy, prequels, Clone Wars, Bad Batch, Andor, Solo, Rebels, Rogue One, Mandalorean, Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka and finally the new trilogy.

Hotaru Tomoe

Re: the droids fast-talking the stormtroopers, the droids are standard models and the vast majority of Imperial droids are fitted with those Restraining Bolts you saw back on the desert planet which keep them obedient despite their intelligence. So the stormtroopers just assumed they were THEIR droids, not realizing they were free/rogue.

Linnaeus

Star wars a new home has made 775 million dollars, which translated today's inflation is over 4 billon dollars

Emperor Moist

man its crazy they watching the rerelease of starwars where they added cgi

vork88

Alicia's scream echoing R2's in the final sequence is peak

UndeaditeJesse

So on Disney+ there is a Docuseries called Light and Magic about the effects house they started just for these movies. Alot of tech we use today was built by them. It's a really fascinating watch

Patrick Evans

So fun fact, the studio laughed at George Lucas when he wanted to trade his directors pay for rights to any Star Wars sequels, bet they regret that decision

Loki

3D one right?

Icy

One of my favorite behind the scenes stories fort this one is how one of the hardest scenes to film was Leia talking about Tarquin's "foul stench". Since Peter Cushing (the actor) was such a sweet guy on set, and made sure to always dab some rose water on his neck before leaving his trailer so he wouldn't potentially distract any of his fellow actors with any BO. So Carrie Fisher just could not deliver that line with a straight face.

Seraphem

alicia will love the clone wars show no spoilers but it is the BEST version of star wars and that's like a universal agreement. Also the meme rabit hole their about to go down will be wonderful

LegalPiranha

Big words. Unfortunately I am a Dragon Ball fan and cannot read

Immeasurably Me

Yeah he was the copilot of the falcon, he helped too

Rick Baron

forgot how good this movie is, but I don't recall some of those monsters early on, pretty sure they weren't on the VHS tape I watched this series on. (all three movies were available and we didn't have cable so I watched them all like 5 times over) and for the Sci Fi VS fantasy bit, I was the opposite preferring sci fi to fantasy until maybe a decade ago. (massive halo fan but I have since realized sci fi is just a science based fantasy and I shouldn't be so focused on realism when most of it is actually beyond realistic)

Speed1247

Will you be doing Clone Wars the animated series? Id recommend doing it because it is an amazing series that expands the star wars cannon in such an amazing way

SharkMessiah101

oh my god yo have to watch space balls now at some point lol

marlanes

I haven't watched this in earnest in a long time so the changes they made felt a little jarring, mainly the CGI, but still very enjoyable and an undeniable classic. I'm more excited for LotR honestly, but ready to watch the next react tomorrow!

cyberspacecat

Fun Fact: The genre of music that band in the cantina was playing is, in universe, called Jizz.

Wil DeYoung

Ah yes the legendary series begins I'm so excited to see Alicia and koma react to these the prequels and the clone wars and then be so sad when they watch the cringe sequels of Disney just hurts thinking about it but for now let's go epic Star wars watch

dragon emperor ry

I'm still a little bit salty that Chewie didn't get a medal at the end

Ronix

thats hilarious (i assume its a joke)

Ellerian

The budget for this first one wasn't actually too insane. Keep in mind that most of the space battles and stuff are all just miniatures. There's some behind the scenes stuff and the death star is literally just a bunch of model kits glued to a table. Also a LOT of the backgrounds are actually matte paintings. A lot of the "sets" are pretty much just paint. That said, they did fiddle with it a lot. The original trilogy has had a lot special effects and extra scenes added since its original release in the 70s.

Aerowind

They made canon both clone wars and revels with rogue one and episode 9, plus adding spin offs as canon: the baby yoda show (the mandalorian), book of bobba fett, bad batch and Ahsoka (a.k.a. rebels season 5) All others arent canon

Faroth

OH MY GOD I AM SO HYYYYYPED!! woo!! Yes, I think release order is better to watch it in, personally. I would also recommend watching Rogue One after the Prequels. It connects 3 and 4 and was the best Disney era SW movie, imo. ALSO, I would definitely recommend you watching the Clone Wars series. Its really good. Rebels is also good, but Clone Wars is goated.

Umbra_Nex

This takes me back. I was 8 years old. Saw it 5 times at the big theater in town (which had only 3 screens) when ever we could con an older family member into taking us. It changed my childhood.

Vik Persson

Oooh, I've found the fan-remastered originals. It's fantastic!! Just like the original, but in HD. I'm so happy!

Toasted Toad

The craziest part of the video-gamey nature of their piloted laser cannons, is that this movie was released the same year as the ATARI.

Timmetry

DONT READ THE COMMENTS! DONT READ THE COMMENTS! You never know when someone is gonna spoil something. DONT READ THE COMMENTS! DONT READ THE COMMENTS!

Gai Valentine

Yes there was always meant to be more Star Wars movies, that’s why the first is episode 4.

Michael

Aw man I was hoping we were gonna start with the prequels but oh well

Tuff

This movie was my first Wilhelm Scream, in the theater in 1977. I was 7 years old.

rrrebo

So has she actually no knowledge of star wars or is she doing a bit? Either way very entertaining

M

Oh the memories. The amount of times I watched this as a child and watching it now, it still holds up. Can’t wait to see the reactions to the next two! Also, Alicia got me craving biscuits from Red Lobster now, damn it.

BakaSama

HAN SOLO FIRED FIRST!!! lolol

jdoggivjc

It feels great to see someone who's never seen this movie react to it. This was my first star wars movie too maybe 16 years ago. Its so nostalgic to see it again

Tom Gates

Fucking fair, for real.

rrrebo

P.S. -- in 1977, the total production cost for this film? "11 million"

E. H.

I think the best watch order is 4, 5, 1, 2, Genndy Tartakovsky's Animation, 3, 6. Then the shows.

SSKazega .

you either hatin' or you lying. either way, it's not that bad. i like the prequels more than the original trilogy. and i'm not saying that to cause beef. i genuinely feel that way

Gavin Bickel

Nah, the writing *is* bad. Episode 1 in particular feels like a first draft.

Liesmith

*Only* Han shot.

Liesmith

She didn't skip anything. If she watches LOTR in release order, she'll be watching the LOTR trilogy first. If she watches LOTR in chronological order (like watching the SW prequels first), *then* she'd be starting with the Hobbit.

Liesmith

they didnt notice the stormtrooper hitting his head scene

DankusMemes

Now i really hope they react to Family Guy's Star Wars... 🤣🤞

RedRam-Ipsen

skipped 3 movies 💀 what gonna start with The Hobbit too???

Christian Clark

Omg no way this is hyyype, what a good excuse to rewatch

Jorden Powell

ALICIA WATCH THE CLONE WARS SERIES IT IS SO GOOD

Aku

"Oh shit, daddy?!" when Vader appears is crazy on so many levels Another notable quote: "R2-D2 is the GOAT of this whole entire franchise", you can say that again, R2 is one of the most important characters in the entire franchise and not even necessarily for this moment specifically, such a little droid went on such big adventures Also, this movie was the only one planned when it released. At the time, if I recall it was originally just called "Star Wars", no "Episode IV - A New Hope", that was added retroactively. It was when this one did so well that the rest (first 6) ended up being planned. And eventually, when a sequel trilogy was suggested by Disney when they bought Lucasfilm, George Lucas wrote out an entire extra 3 movies for them (this is a plan that Disney promptly ignored to do their own thing, but it's the thought thet counts, Lucas was ready and willing).

Ellerian

And on Disney+ they use a previous unused version of the 2011 version where they ADR’d Greedo screaming “Maclunky!” as he dies.

Sam Brown

Star Wars has never been my favourite franchise or anything, but I'm way excited to watch these. It's rare to have anyone not know pretty much anything when it comes to something like this!

SouthHill

Oh my lord, I never heard that version of the sound Obi Wan makes. xD

dz1jgmeyer

HAN SHOT FIRST!

rrrebo

Funfact about this movie: out of tatooine, there's only 1 girl in the entire movie: princess leia 🤣😂😅

Faroth

Let's sing it together "HAN SHOT FIRST!" And the Jabba scene - what were they thinking?? (Or rather, just GL - I doubt anyone agreed with him). Oh, and R2D2 hiding behind so many rocks he could not possibly have got out (or in)! The quality on the DVD's is not great - we're not used to watching things not in hi-def anymore, but it's 100x preferable to watching the amended versions.

Toasted Toad

Ok, for those who already watched Rebels... Can we agree that ChoPper (C1-10P) and its hundreds of thousands of warcrimes are cooler than Rd-D2? Also, after jsut 2 seasosn you start to u derstand its beeps but not R2's after 7 seasons, even in new Ahsoka series you understand Chopper's beeps 😅🤣😂🤣🤣

Faroth

LETS GOOOO

Cr0nus

I think only the things that are mentioned in other films/shows are still canon; everything else isn't.

Liesmith

STAR WARSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!

DarkChaos

I'm so glad I was able to see the relatively-original VHS releases from 93 or 95 when I was a kid, before any of these asinine changes were made. The Maclunkey version available on Disney Plus is just awful: shitty, distracting CGI keys being jangled in front of the audience's face, shitty "Greedo shoots at Han" and monumentally shitty addition of that completely silly Jabba scene.

Liesmith

I actually would really love her reaction of the Clone Wars series

Stunnafour20

In the non edited original starwars4 of 1977: han shot, not first, just him, greedo didnt shot In the edited dvd version of 1997 greedo shot 1st In the new version of 2011 for blueray and for streaming and stuff, they both shoot at the same time

Faroth

OMFG an almost entirely immune Star Wars reaction!!! YASSSSSSS! Btw, the name of the real-life "truth serum" you're thinking of is probably scopolamine. It's used in patches for motion sickness, but has a long history (dating back to the early 1900s) of being experimented with to induce a sort of "twilight" hypnotic state where people were less inhibited and more inclined to speak freely. Ultimately, it seems it was concluded that it was similar to, but no better than alcohol in terms of reliability and effectiveness.

rrrebo

It is canon, since events in the 3d cgi version make references to it, like the damage on general grievous, and lets not forget that the 3dcgi starts with a movie about ahsoka bei g anakin's padawan that most people forgets about

Faroth

Please, don't look at comments at all for star wars until you watch Empire Strikes Back

Deadman5125

Never watched all the movies on my own so glad I can watch it with you ❤️

NoPointToTry

"THAT'S CHEWBACCA!" Prewatcher confirmed!

Liesmith

Yess

Nathaniel Richter

i mean....they need a LITTLE bit of leeway with the amount of bad star wars stuff we got in the latest movies and current latest show

Gavin Bickel

They don’t need leeway, they’re just movies. If anything, Alicia here’s basically watching these in a cultural vacuum!

PrivateXimmy

About the Clone Wars "anime" that Coma mentioned: there are two different "Clone Wars" series--the first one is from 2003, and is in the style of Samurai Jack. It's pretty cool, but unfortunately, it's no longer canon. The second series is CGI, and came out after the the Prequels. It starts kind of slowly, but gets pretty good as it progresses.

Liesmith

Hi Alicia - I'm sure you've heard about the endless "improvements" George Lucas made to Star Wars (almost all of which made the films worse). I have the original versions if you would like to use them. They're not digitally remastered or anything, but it's what we saw in the cinemas and the experience everyone had. The end of the last film especially has HORRIBLE changes. While the special effects are not as good (although many of the "new" effects stand out like a sore thumb anyway), it's more than offset by the changes they made to the script.

Toasted Toad

Lmao, leave it to Alicia to catch that "sexy step." I never noticed it before.

Nicholas Johnson

oh come on, the writing is NOT that bad. it's not perfect and a bit corny, but it's not as bad as people say it is.

Gavin Bickel

Thank you so much for giving these a look! Id like to make a couple suggestions if i may. - dont worry about the rabid fans. The prequels and sequels are very divisive. You either love em or you hate em. Please dont be discouraged, i love the prequels so much and can't wait for you to see em. Episode 3 is my favourite star wars movie - if you feel up to it, please look up a viewing order for the clone wars tv show and give it a shot, its amazing and i know you'll love it. - definetly give rogue one a watch, its a great star wars film. - there is a youtube video called scene 38 reimagined, its a fan project that reimagines the obi wan vs vader fight from this film. - after youre either done or far enough through star wars i think you should react to the parody stuff. Space balls is a hilarious star wars spoof. Family guy did a trilogy of episodes parodying the original 3 star wars movies, i think you'll find them uproariously funny. Keep up the great work, you are easily among the best reactors on the platform!

Commisar_Pickle

I have DVDs of the originals (not the de-specialised, though)

Toasted Toad

how do you even find that these days? all i have is the old vhses

Ellerian

That’s why I specified early 90s/2000s computer effects, which is often bad.

Sam Brown

Lucas planned to have a ton of them, I think at one point he mentioned like 12 of them at one point. They kind of wanted it to make similar to old scifi serial tv shows (but with the budget of movies) where every some months or year you'll get a new installment almost like a longer tv episode. He meant them to be like 3-4 trilogies with the first one, the prequel and then one sequel trilogy about a different protagonist before she and Luke met in the final trilogy. That, of course didn't end up working that way. As it happens to anything that goes through the long development process and as the creator has to start to figure out how to turn the ideas in their head into like an actual product.

RF

The actors don't deserve any hate, but the writing of the prequels deserve the criticism.

Liesmith

I disagree completely. While the classic films are, no doubt incredible for the time -- newer films are just as good. Like, it's (usually) genuinely good CGI.

mon0_liz

Now I am imagining the "stolen play" Princess Leia is custodian of. Then again, an athlete could discuss their next 'play' as part of a plan. I'm just poking fun.

E. H.

i'm not saying they can't do that and make jokes, but with everything in the star wars stuff that we got in the last 10 years, we need to give them some lee-way. (now i personally thing all the tv shows minus the Apolye or whatever were all great) and the only bad movies from SW was episode 8, 9, and Solo. 7 and Rogue one were amazing. again, i'm not saying you're not allowed to look at things that may not be to your liking (and seeing as how Alicia is a film major, i'm sure she'll rip it apart some like she did the LA One Piece show at times) but still, it doesn't deserve to be mocked or called one of the worst trilogys ever.

Gavin Bickel

“-you should watch things in release order so that when technology improves you enjoy it more” See, that’s true generally, except for series that go from 70s/80s practical effects to early 90s/2000s computer effects. Then the opposite happens.

Sam Brown

As someone who loves the prequels, they are massively flawed. There is nothing wrong with shredding them to pieces, as there is just so much there to shred. Doesn't mean you can't the enjoy the hell out of them, and talk about what they did well. Now, if she somehow comes to the conclusion that the sequels are the superior films, then Pistols at Dawn may have to happen (although liking them is still fine :P).

Iain McDonald

Yes! It turns out to be easily obtainable, having listened to the boys from SWOCBC positively gush over it. They were hesitant, but it seems to elevate the viewing experience.

E. H.

This should be fun

Vendacator

well i mean, i'm sure if you never SAW a movie, i'm sure you would still hear of how people liked it. i've never seen a lot of Marvel movies but i still know how much people love or hate them.

Gavin Bickel

What a strange thing to preempt reactors with...

E. H.

Alicia.....Coma....PLEASE do not shred the presequels to pieces.....they do not deserve the hate they got, nor do the actors deserve the hate.

Gavin Bickel

I do have a little bit of insight when it comes to the Miniatures that they used in the behind the scene production. When the movie gets to the attack on the Death Star and they show the cockpit fly by of the surface of the Death Star that was done by putting a camera in the back of a pickup and driving through an Alleyway pass the miniature

Kyle

I kind of wish you watched the despecialized edition. Just for those crisp 70s and 80s effects, but I hope you enjoy them.

Robert C. Dona

Alicia I have to say right now. These movies are really special to me, I really hope you enjoy them and can find a good message to take away from these movies like I did when I was a little kid, in my basement with my brother, watching these on VHS with our toy lightsabers in hand.

Jacob Goodheart

I just irl pogged right now, hope you enjoy the series!
