Starting in the mid 90’s George Lucas re-released the original films as his first wave of “special editions” to “more align with his artistic vision”, but in reality it was to make more $$$. He would then make new “special editions” with even more changes and dates CGI in 2004 and in 2010. There are several videos that compare scenes from the theatrical cuts to the various “special editions”. The easiest way to know if you’re witnessing a “special edition” change is if you see anything CG in the shot, and most (by most I mean 95%) of these “special edition” changes at best did nothing to improve the movies and at worst made the movies worse than before.

What's interesting is that Vader is still so powerful even though he is being limited by his suit. When the Emperor saved him, he intentionally made his suit with glaring flaws so that Vader wouldn't be strong enough to beat the Emperor in case of a betrayal. Funnily enough though, once the Emperor was sure of his loyalty, he offered to give Vader a new suit, but Vader declined because he'd gotten so used to the current suit, and because it afforded him certain strengths a different suit would not have, like it's increased weight, and brute strength over maneuverability. If I got any lore wrong, please let me know.

God loving the Star Wars content. A little fun fact. The original actor for chewie has dialogue for the first 3 films. He would speak his lines during filming then they’d dub chewie’s iconic voice over it. So scenes where Han is arguing with Chewie it’s not one sided at all they go back and forth 😂😂😂 You can still find some behind the scenes clips on YouTube of their banter

Please please please play star wars battlefront 2 on stream. It has amazing multi-player and got ride of all it's microtransactions so it is actually a fantastic game now and it allows you to play every battle from the entire franchise including all vehicles, weapons, races, troop types, heroes and villians. It is so good.

What is your source for that? I'll be honest that doesn't track with the progression of episode 5. A week, maybe 2 but not 6 months. Between the time of escaping Hoth and the showdown in Bespin I agree it is impossible to track Luke's passage of time properly. But we can easily track Han and companys' time. Escaping the Empire, hiding in the throat of the Exogorth couldn't have been more than a day maybe 2. Powering down and hiding behind the Star Destroyer it probably wasn't more then a few hours maybe a day before they jumped to hyperspace and left dropping trash and allowing the crew to fly to Bespin without lightspeed. After that the trip would probably take a few days maybe. Then after arriving things started moving very fast so maybe another few hours at best before Luke arrives to confront Vader. I think you must be thinking of Luke training after Episode 5 before the start of Episode 6. But with that time period it is a little fuzzy with the official canon exactly how much time passes . I've read anywhere from 1~3 years, most agree with meeting in the middle and saying 1year and six months.

The Empire Strikes back is generally considered the best of the Star Wars movies by much of the fanbase, but I can totally respect loving the first movie more, especially with just having watched them back to back like this. The first movie really does an amazing job of introducing the main cast of protagonists and the Star Wars universe, and is just super charming. The second movie really focuses on building those characters, truly introducing Vader as a terrifying villain, and having some of the most iconic and epic moments of the franchise, but it's also less of a fun romp than the first movie was probably.

I haven’t played the most recent Star Wars Lego game but I’m sure it’s co-op, they all normally are. And if you’re up for a shooter there’s the original battlefronts that got remastered, dunno if they’re doing better than when it released, and then there’s the other battlefront 2 which I think ended up pretty good despite it’s original controversy. Hell watching these movies again is making me wanna play it!

Nah, that first scene is filler but the battle of Hoth is supposed to highlight how, despite the destruction of the Death Star, the Empire still has vastly superior numbers and technology compared to the rebels, who still cannot beat them in a direct confrontation and are forced to retreat every time their bases are discovered.

I was still in grade school when this came out. Our parents weren't interested in seeing it so they just dropped us at the theater. it was PG so we just saw it on our own. The darkness of the story, Luke's failure, the setbacks, Han is frozen and captured, betrayal, is Vader really his father? So very different from the triumphant ending of the first movie. It was a lot for a kid to take in. And now we were stuck waiting 3 years to find out what happens.
