The show and it's humor never talked down to the child audience and understand kids CAN recognize sarcasm and irony too, as well as complex themes. Obviously there were shows before AT with complex themes, like Avatar, clone wars etc but still more uncommon than now and aimed at older audiences.

They probably knew about the Lich, it was in Billy’s theme song, and if it ever got loose it would probably fall to F and J to stop it.
