2025-04-15 21:23:25 +0000 UTCFor ultimate tears, the novelization stated that “K2-SO’s final seconds of activity were spent simulating an impossible situation where Cassian Eros escaped alive. The simulation pleased him…” For ultimate lulz, Krennic’s final seconds before being annihilated were spent “lovingly reminiscing over the details of the Death Star, even that blasted thermal exhaust port that Galen insisted on installing,” only to realize that THAT was the very fatal flaw that Galen implemented to have it destroyed. His final thoughts were pure spite and hatred for the Ersos upon realizing that. 😏

2024-12-09 21:49:09 +0000 UTCIt also showed that you can have a fantastic, dramatic, compelling story in the Star Wars setting with no Skywalkers or Jedi. Which I think is something Hollywood should really think about when they make the next mainline movie.

2024-11-27 07:40:48 +0000 UTCone of the things i like most about the ending of this, throughout most of the OT Vader is calm and collected even as he kills people, never even raising his voice. except right at the beginning of New Hope on the Tantive IV where he sounds pissed. when Leia says "I'm a member of the imperial senate, on a diplomatic mission to Alderaan!" he shouts back "You are part of the Rebel Alliance and a traitor, take her away!" because he had seen her ship fleeing from here just hours beforehand.

2024-11-18 07:53:07 +0000 UTCJust wanted to second this guy here about Clone Wars I understand most stuff like this you might think nah fuck it release order is fine like with the Star Wars movies watching the original trilogy before watching the prequels which really is not that big a deal, but for Clone Wars its not the same and the experience doing it chronologically adds a lot and gives you a better end to end experience.

This was a short teaser created for the 2016 Star Wars Celebration fan event, and the first reveal that the new star wars spin-off movie would be called "Rogue One". It is, for my money, the most impactful teaser trailer ever.

2024-11-07 09:45:21 +0000 UTCIf I remember correctly one of the reasons that this movie got a lot of hate was the fact that they put deceased actors for tarkin and Leia on the bodies of actual actors rather than just recast them for smaller scenes or not featuring them at all. And it became part of a greater topic of what AI is going to be in Hollywood.

2024-11-07 03:58:18 +0000 UTCRogue One was based entirely off of a single line in the opening title scroll of A New Hope, and it's one of the best Star Wars movies. Movies like Rogue One and even the Solo movie, and shows like Andor and Clone Wars (even though I haven't seen the latter two) really put the "war" back in Star Wars, showing you just how overwhelmingly powerful the Empire was and the effect it had on the average Joe, as well as all the boots on the ground fighting and the Rebellion's decade-long struggle against the Empire. The dramatic space opera of the rest of the movies is fantastic but I truly wish we got to see more about this part of the universe.

2024-11-07 03:31:19 +0000 UTCI'm not sure if you two noticed by the end, but Krennic got hit with a direct hit from the Death Star, you were shown his death in this movie when the tower got blown up by it. Also, and unrelated, to correct Koma in the first 8 minutes, those are Imperial Death Troopers, not just Storm Troopers, characterized by their black armor, actually really good aim, cool designs, and the fact that just about every time they're on-screen somebody's dying. This movie does a great job of showing the Death Troopers being worthy of their title.

2024-11-06 17:11:10 +0000 UTCOk, so now Andor neeeeeds to be watched. It tells Andors story leading up to this movie. It's made by the guy that did the Bourne movies so it's a political spy thriller and it is the most WELL MADE story to come of star wars, including originals. Note I said most well made, not my favourite. That will always be the OGs, Andor is just what I wish star wars was now and hope it will be.

2024-11-06 14:55:35 +0000 UTCThis is one of the movies I really enjoy, but fall short of loving because of one minor yet major problem it has : The leads are so bad! I don't know if it's a problem of poor character direction like how famously Hayden Christensen was directed poorly (allegedly), but Jyn and Cassian are so wooden and emotionless throughout the film for so much of it, that I don't care about them as lead characters and the film has to sell me on the side characters (which are all phenomenal in comparison) and the action (which is pretty good). It kills me too, because by the time they actually DO make me care about them, when they actually show great human emotion in their final moments, they die immediately after! It feels so frustrating that they only make me care for them right as they die, it feels cheap in a way, like I'm being gypped somehow. Other than that huge flaw, it's a good movie. A solid 7 out of 10.

2024-11-06 14:39:17 +0000 UTCRegular TIEs and especially TIE Interceptors ARE faster and more maneuverable than an X-Wing. The problem is they don't have deflector shields, which means that while an X-Wing can soak some shots for the sake of lining up a kill, TIEs can't. Some later models (Vader's TIE Advanced/TIE Avenger, the TIE Defender, etc) do have shields and hyperdrives but that in turn loses that advantage of being able to be produced cheaply and in bulk quantities.

2024-11-06 13:10:46 +0000 UTCThat's just because it's focusing on a different aspect of star wars. I don't want the same thing over and over just lightsabers abd force and the same planets aand such. Star wars has plenty of stories from books or comics or arcs in shows that don't feel fantastical at all. Star wars shouldn't only be one genre and see how that's gotten us. Most fans have started to turn on star wars as of late with that being one of many reasons why. All the legends content that's no longer cannon is something a lot of people loved and still do because it shook up the genre. I wouldn't mind a star wars horror game for example that'd be cool as hell of done right.

2024-11-06 12:50:20 +0000 UTCI don't really agree with the whole "doesnt feel like star wars" thing. Star wars takes place in an entire galaxy yet we're supposed to only be limited to a certain feel and theme? All the new shows and sequel movies don't feel like star wars to me because all they do is key jangle and re use memorable sights and sounds without heart or meaning. Let us flesh out the world and explore abd diversify. And it has enough recognizable things in it to feel star wars it just has a far more gritty feel to it.

2024-11-06 11:28:19 +0000 UTCAnother thing many seem to miss is that there is a significant difference between there being "toxic fans" and "the fans being toxic." Literally every community has toxic fans in it, but that does not mean they make up anything more than a vocal minority. However, when you encounter a few 4chan style trolls and in response label Everyone that disagrees with you as -ists and -phobes, you create a feedback loop. Fans REALLY don't like being pushed out of their own fandom. Especially by groups that don't seem to respect the legacy that came before them

2024-11-06 09:53:22 +0000 UTCFun fact, Tie Fighters in lore were mid quality in terms of nearly every other star fighter but were so cheap that the most effective use of them was using them in massive amounts to overwhelm nearly any force, this is the first time a Live Action project had accurately portrayed this as this was only mentioned in books or comics after the OG trilogy was finished, not to mention overall plot armor for the crew of the Millennium Falcon. Most Star Destroyers have the capacity to carry 72 fighters but they're usually never used in this way due to Imperial Ego, budget cuts, and overall Officer Incompetency, most Tie Fighters are used for Planetary or Station Defense while Star Destroyers rely almost entirely on their own firepower, leaving them a bit more vulnerable to forces heavily reliant of Star Fighters, like the Rebellion, while having extreme superiority engaging Cruiser to Cruiser.

2024-11-06 09:51:51 +0000 UTCThis is exactly why so many older Star Wars fans have wanted an Old Republic movie or series, but without any of the modern obstructions.. Show us the Sith/Jedi war! A context where diversity exists without needing to be the focus! Give us the Mandalorian War where it shows them at their full strength, where they posed a genuine danger to the Republic!! Hell, give us the story of a common person trying to survive in that world without plot armor!!!
QuibblesAndGitz
2024-11-06 09:51:31 +0000 UTCAs much as I do love expanded content, it bothers me how many series these days treat it as essential to understanding major players rather than fleshing out the background.. Andor was very good, but Disney made it feel like homework
QuibblesAndGitz
2024-11-06 09:45:30 +0000 UTCThis right here is something much of the "modern audience" doesn't seem to grasp.. The fans aren't Toxic, they are simply disappointed with all the wasted potential.. Almost every fan criticism comes with ideas of how it could have been done both better, and more in line with existing canon/lore
QuibblesAndGitz
2024-11-06 09:42:27 +0000 UTCContext without spoilers: Saw Gerrera was a recurring character in one (or more) of the Star Wars animated series. A problem with many expanded universe movies of the past decade is they operate under the assumption that you have watched, read, or at least are familiar with associated media (mini series, comics, etc) for character drops and plot points to make sense

2024-11-06 09:38:25 +0000 UTCI love it because it really dovetails with how tilted James Earl Jones portrays Vader in that scene. Vader's usually pretty controlled, but he's practically screaming at the stormtroopers when he says "Tear this ship apart until you've found those plans, and bring me those passengers, I WANT THEM ALIVE!!"

2024-11-06 09:01:21 +0000 UTCThis is by far the best of the Disney-era Star Wars movies, and arguably the best of the Disney SW productions period. I love it, and have a few things to say, but I'll lead with ONE criticism of the film. Some folks will call this a nitpick, but: -I really hate how they assassinate Mon Mothma's character (the woman in white, creator and leader of the Rebel Alliance), showing her as completely passive and giving up which is completely out of character for her. I understand WHY they did it: To give Jyn Erso more agency and make her the heroic focus, but IMO it was unnecessary and could have been handled much more deftly. One small change: After Jyn's "Rebellions Are BUILT on Hope!" rallying speech while the other alliance leaders are waffling, instead of Mon Mothma just saying "I'm Sorry,", have her tell the other councilors they will continue shortly, then take Jyn and Cassian outside, telling them they're dismissed as no further testimony is needed. Jyn protests, and Mon Mothma says there's nothing more Jyn can do HERE, so she should calm down, and not do anything reckless like take a ship to Scarif on their own, ESPECIALLY not the one in Hangar 19 that she's had repaired and fueled and ready for them, and we last see Mon Mothma returning to the room to start politicking and persuading the councilors while they go off to be heroes. It keeps Mon Mothma a leader and a visionary without robbing Jyn and Cassian of their agency. That said, I love almost everything else about this movie. I even can tolerate the iffy CGI reconstruction of Grand Moff Tarkin actor Peter Cushing (who, yes, died before this movie came out). The face came out a bit weird because it was based on a plaster cast of his head that was created for another project (he was most well known for a bunch of Hammer Horror films where he often starred opposite Christopher Lee, AKA Saruman/Count Dooku), and I actually think the use of Leia/Carrie Fisher (voice and body double provided by Carrie Fisher's daughter!) was very well done. The beautiful shot composition and cinematography is partly credit to Director Gareth Edwards, but mostly to the acclaimed Grieg Fraser who is one of the two or three best Cinematographers alive and working, IMO. You might also know him from Zero Dark Thirty, Dune Parts One and Two, and The Batman. On that note, I highly recommend Dune and The Batman for reactions, someday!

2024-11-06 08:56:51 +0000 UTCMy wife's the Star Wars fan, not me (she was hyperventilating in the cinema when Han was killed, she's incredibly trope-savvy and saw it coming halfway through the movie, and he was her first fictional crush) but this is the one thing they've done that I really, really enjoy. I had to describe it to a fellow non-SW-fan once, and went with 'Two orphans, a pair of RWBY OCs, and a sassy Laputa guardian robot save the galaxy by spilling the tea'.

2024-11-06 08:55:29 +0000 UTCI like how they were able to realize that everyone was gonna die from the beginning of the movie, but never realized that Director Krennic hadn't appeared in any other movie XD

2024-11-06 08:45:02 +0000 UTCAlicia just curious if you were planning on watching any of the shows. Obi-wan is actually a favorite of mine, along with Clone Wars for how they flesh out Obi-Wan and Anakin as characters before and after Order 66.

2024-11-06 08:38:25 +0000 UTCThe Vader Hallway scene, called Vader's Rage, makes me wish that we could get one of these non-main Star Wars movies as something like a slasher horror flick where the slasher is a Sith. Have it in the past, no Jedi or at best a novice padawan along with a bunch of normies dealing with a murderous Sith

2024-11-06 08:28:55 +0000 UTCIt's good, but I do think the complaint of "it doesn't feel like Star Wars" is justified. Sorta like tuning in to a movie about the wild frontier thinking you're going to watching a classic western and instead it's 1700s midwest

2024-11-06 08:25:40 +0000 UTCwith how much you guys love vader, you should REALLY watch the obi-wan series. Not to spoil but it is REALLY good, if you guys loved the vader hallway scene.

2024-11-06 08:24:56 +0000 UTCYou have to watch "Andor". It's a prequel series to rogue one about the founding of the rebellion and it's peak television. Like it's not just peak star wars, it's legit peak television, one of the best shows I've watched in a long while.

2024-11-06 07:30:15 +0000 UTCPlease watch star wars andor. It's easily the best star wars show out right now. Anyone who says it's not worth watching because of "no jedi" or "too slow" just doesn't know good writing and story telling

2024-11-06 06:54:56 +0000 UTCI just love to point out how absolutely _hilarious_ this makes the opening of A New Hope, in hindsight. Vader catches this ship, and interrogates Leia about subversive activity, and she has the balls to blatantly lie to his face, claiming that they're just a diplomatic mission. You can just imagine Vader screaming internally "BITCH I WATCHED THIS SHIP FLY AWAY WITH THE PLANS, I WAS FIVE FEET FROM BOARDING IT MYSELF"

2024-11-06 06:19:39 +0000 UTCPeter Cushing did pass away. But he'd always wanted to be in another Star Wars Film. A guy who could do his voice asked that Peter be credited, and he'd play him with the CGI over him.

2024-11-06 06:06:29 +0000 UTCRouge One is the first Disney SW film to not feature a jedi. Also, the Death Star is the only weapon up to that point that we see have the power to destroy a planet. They weren't destroying planets with it until after Jynn dies.

2024-11-06 05:56:49 +0000 UTCThere is a book in spanish traslated as "chronicle of a called death" (crónica de una muerte anunciada) which all the book since the start is about how a man died for a misunderstanding, fun thing is, from the start, the narrator says the man died, narrator being a journalist investigating the story behind the man, so you know it dies even when the more you read, the more you dont want it to die since is all a misunderstanding... This movie is like that: Episode IV told us that everyone died to get such plans, so we know they die on rogue one, but the story is too good to pass it on that you forget about that really fast, i remember watching it when it came out on theatres and hearing people crying and saying "why is everyone diying??!!!" And i was there, well knowing that from the start they were already dead, it was a fact established on ep4... Im one with the force... the force is with me...
