It's fiction so we don't have to go all real life psychology on the possible relationship, and we can just enjoy what at least I think is a pretty adorable pairing. Amidst the absolute silliness that is going on there's actually some really sweet sentiments in how Sai is essentially deciding to save Baby5 from the people who take advantage of her. It's not the deepest of romantic writing, but I have seen much worse in Shonen anime/manga.

2024-11-09 18:48:10 +0000 UTCI do love the Sai and Lao G fight, as well as all the stuff around that fight, but I wish they'd given more love to Hajrudin's fight. He's such a cool character. I'm not sure how long the Netflix remake will go on for, or if we'll eventually have Dressrosa get the same treatment that Fish-Man Island is getting right now, but it's such a shame that this arc got the short end of the stick from pacing and animation issues. The Toei version of One Piece has been all we've had for so long, and there have been moments where the animation has genuinely made some of the scenes better, but it feels like for every moment we have like that, there's 2 or 3 more that makes you go, "Why?"

I like to imaGine that he was exactly like we saw him in the flashback, until his 70 year birthday earlier this year. Where he instantly transformed into his current state. The funny thinG is that Chinjao is 78, so Lao G is actually younGer. I Guess that is what runninG with the Donquixote Family will Get you. Also, Dressora is never GoinG to GeoGraphically recover from these battles.

This part in particular is a real slog, some scenes (like Bellamy’s) get ruined by how stretched out everything gets. You are in the home stretch, so just hang in there.

2024-11-08 12:03:51 +0000 UTCYeah, this is the infamous "pacing" of some parts of One Piece. It ruins the engagement and they try to stay on the same emotional "beat" for so long it exhausts you. I think the anime also ruined the Bellamy part because they keep cutting away and coming back, recapping so many times that it tunes you out. You were already unimpressed with the Bellamy sub-plot, it's not surprising you find it annoying now.

2024-11-08 12:03:47 +0000 UTCA word in favor of Hajrudin here. When we first saw giants it was on Little Garden, and it was made abundantly clear how awesome the giants of One Piece are. This is reinforced when we meet Oimo and Kaashi on Enies Lobby. The only giants who have not had 'that' flair were the Marine giants fighting at Marineford. So when we got to post time skip and got to meet a giant with that Elbaf viking vibe to them I was hyped. Even if his only function was to make Luffy look awesome in the moment. But then the fighters came back and he gets another chance to demonstrate he's as cool as the rest. And here it is. He gets his moment and I'm that much more excited about Elbaf again. PS: If we are to have such a huge cast of characters in an arc, you better believe that most of them get screen time, like it or not. Getting moody about them being there when there are much cooler moments on the table to explore is just going to bog you down. Try to be positive about it because if nothing else, at the end of the day it's just more One Piece. And that's always a plus in my book.
