Arcane 2x8

OH DANG

Comments

Wait I just realized, is Mel's magic similar to Sylas' magic? The black rose witch (probably Leblanc, let's be honest) said Mel's magic was able to "mirror" others meanwhile Sylas also copies others magic. Prob no relation (since Mel's magic seems more celestial with all the gold n stuff) but still pretty neat

WillGlacier

im talking literally vi being shocked that cait would arrest jinx when she woke up. what you said proves my point. the fact vi was going to arrest her means she knows jinx has done wrong yet she acts like cait is in the wrong now.

mitchhamilton64

Sesbian Lex

Callum Howe

They cut the whole scene, and all the cuts are hilariously bad. (WARNING this contains references to the Chinese cuts after this episode to so DO NOT WATCH before the final episode!!!!!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JnO1J1zwVSQ&t=46s

Ervine Gates

Did they make Vi kiss the Wall?

DanielTheHamster

They don't like "the gays" I didn't see the censored version, but afaik the censors are all still CCP bureaucrats. So that's your quality level.

Cat on Crack

anything remotley gay

Azzazz1n97

What did the chinese episodes censor?

Dain Greywall

Scene was already long enough imo.

Johnathon

Little late for theories. Another reaction YouTuber did a watch-along with some producers and the VA for Maddie, and they were all too eager to reveal that the Black Rose was LeBlanc.

The GigaCat

my mind wonders back to something vi said to cait in season 1.... "you ever have prison food" well maybe she has a different opinion on prison food now lol.

marlanes

It's not about what *we* want though is it? Vi has been kicked to the curb by basically everybody she loves multiple times at this point. She was already in a place where she gave up in act 2 before Jinx reached out. Every single time she's chased Jinx or tried to do the right thing it has ultimately backfired and she blames herself for all of it. At some point it becomes fair for her to cling to someone who actually wants her there.

Nexine

Yeah, but if they could manage it. it would flow soo much nicer together instead of, sister is in danger but first must smash

grim artifact

As a filthy CaitVi shipper, I'm not mad about it. Just disappointed :'( But then again I could have watched a whole miniseries of just them being domestic af

Deep Red

I feel like it would’ve worked better if Vi got out of the cell somehow and they had the scene elsewhere, Caitlyn’s office for example. That may have been harder to do a smooth flow of events though.

BrockenSprocket

Specifically, since the show is tied to a game it affects the game’s rating as well. If the show got too mature of a rating then the game wouldn’t be able to be rated as PG13 equivalent anymore and they lose a massive chunk of their player base.

BrockenSprocket

when family is involved morals doesn't function in the same way

Leticia

Btw if anyone hasn't seen it, the Chinese censorship of this episode is comical with how abrupt and hamfisted it is

Polarbear Bowl

It feels like the I don't care is about more than JUST that however. It feels like in that moment she's saying "I don't care about anything other than you right now". And still, is Vi giving up on Jinx really the outcome we want? Without even a comfort talk about her sister going off on her own and abandoning her after all she tried to help her?

Silver Screen

The "I don't care" is a response to Cait admitting that she saw someone (Maddie) while Vi was gone (Arc 2). Vi and Cait have no knowledge about anything Jinx does at this very moment. For all we know, Vi does exactly what her sister just told her to do - to be with Cait.

Edone

I mean, that is still pretty cryptic and worrying. And wouldn't Vi saying "I don't care" mean she does give up on Jinx? Is this the outcome we are supposed to want?

Silver Screen

yeah Morgana is the "good" of the two angle sisters

nick

was kinda expecting it with a French animation studio

nick

we the audience know Jinx means to kill herself, Vi does not, all Jinx says is shes breaking the cycle, and runs away. All Vi knows is she tried to reach out, and Jinx ran away and tells her she deserves to be with Cait and to stop chasing after her.

DickinaBox

It was shortened so that they could still keep the show under the pg laws of many countries. Otherwise they might not have been able to air it in some countries.

Clawenhime

I think the funniest current drama in the arcane fandom is that someone that worked on the vi and cait scene revealed that the romance and sex scene was actually supposed to be a decent bit longer but it got shortened for some reason . and it seems lots of people are mad about that shortening 😂

Artemis

Was I expecting Cait/Vi sex? Yes. Was I expecting hardcore prison sex? Can’t say it was on my list of expectations.

jdoggivjc

That’s not a weird writing choice. You can disagree with the character if you want but it makes complete sense for Vi (someone who was thrown in prison for years when she was literally 14) to not want her sister, whom she has seen change and save people, while at the same time knowing how she has suffered already without even being arrested, and come to the conclusion that she does not deserve that on top of everything else.

Chelly

Like, I dunno if it is the writing or the placement, but that sex scene between them has some REALLY awkward timing. "I don't care anymore about my sister killing herself, I'd rather bang you right now." Eh, that's so weird and feels out of character.

Silver Screen

It was the wrong place to have the "I don't care". This is the point where Vi should be concerned about helping her sister, or at least stopping her. The moment to relax should be AFTER the immediate danger is resolved

Silver Screen

Yes. That's not having a moral high ground at all, please look up what that term means cus u arent using it correctly. It's also not a wierd writing choice, it's completely in character. Vi doesn't give a shit abt the law, and she's asking the person who has the power to just let jinx free.

Ougi

you know the saying, don't judge a book by its cover.

Eight

... are we speaking of the same person, black wings , deamon looking same makeup around the eyes?

Joseph Zen-aku Kaga

Same

grim artifact

Would not be surprise me if that is why they could not go deeper. But still amazing show. Looking forward to their next project <3

Jasmin Jakobsen

I don't really know either I c a n definitely see how it would help alot bot on the other hand i can also seeing it hurting it instead, I really feel like the writers were kind of restricted while writing by the audience rating might be why certain parts are the way they are

grim artifact

I wonder if a mature rating would have served the show more. Not sure.

Jasmin Jakobsen

What a show love your reactions you are so real and funny

SleppyPanda

Thanks I was worried I was the only one who thought that 😅 but there is alot of scenes with that problem all over the show it seems

grim artifact

I 100% get you. They where even gonna make the sexscene longer. But could not because of age rating of the show xD

Jasmin Jakobsen

I mean i get it from that perspective but to me at least it seems like the writers didn't really clarify that I mean i could have just not read deep enough into it just seemed unexplained if you know what I mean

grim artifact

Morgana is also a good person ^^

Jasmin Jakobsen

Vi did try to arrest Jinx, she even had the same mortality that you are asking to see, but if you watch closely, you can see jinx is a "special case", always thinking gunhoe then tactical.

Joseph Zen-aku Kaga

It feel weird for us because we saw what Jinx saw. So we know what she is intending. Vi does not. She just think she made a mistake again and feel defeated again.

Jasmin Jakobsen

No i just think that if I had sister who said and looked like she was about to do something I'd be non stop anxious, but there after Kaitlyn opened the cell she just like completely forgets about jinx doesn't even ask about her it just seems like a weird scene

grim artifact

So you are saying they shouldn't have sex before death

Joseph Zen-aku Kaga

Black Rose is Leblanc. Morgana is Demacian.

Jasmin Jakobsen

some of the writing choices are so weird. like, why does vi have a moral high ground when it comes to jinx? jinx literally killed people and is a terrorist. i get she had a change in her life, and she is my favorite character and i would like her to go free, but she still broke the law. and vi is unfairly asking a law upholding person to just look the other way because of her feewings.

mitchhamilton64

Still feel like it's kinda odd for the sex scene to be right there after what jinx said it just seems placed in the wrong spot

grim artifact

I have a feeling that the black rose is Morgana of L.O.L.

Joseph Zen-aku Kaga
