After all, he was more than a bit distracted at the time, and he was not in good shape at the time. Remember, by the time he'd arrived at Marineford, it had been around thirty hours, give or take, since his encounter with Magellan. Twenty of those hours were spent enduring extreme tortures, and the remaining time was spent hopped up on a large dose of adrenaline. During the war, his focus was exclusively on surviving and reaching Ace. The entire time, Luffy was literally working himself to death, and he was well beyond his limits even before reaching Marineford in the first place. Not to mention, I'm pretty sure that he and Marco never interacted directly, anyway. He had already forgotten Buggy's name within the few weeks between Buggy's first and second attempts to kill him. I think Luffy can be forgiven for not remembering the name of someone that he's never met before, when the only time they were in proximity to each other was during such a trying event.

Shirahoshi is Poseidon, a reincarnated mermaid queen with the power to control all Sea Kings. The Voice of All Things is a unique trait among certain individuals to hear the inner thoughts of all life, where this trait comes from and what its purpose is we don't know yet.

And we haven't seen any evidence that Momo has The Voice of All Things and that him here isn't just a special connection between the Kozuki Clan and Zuneshia.

I don't remember exactly, tbh, but that was in line with Luffy's characterization even back then because remember how Luffy generally "understood" (as in understood the intention/feelings, not speech) of animals in general, like with the dog in Buggy's arc, the kung fu dugong in Alabasta or those rabbits in Drum. I think the filler arc just expanded on that part of Luffy's character which coincidentally became a plot point in modern One Piece.

2024-12-08 19:46:11 +0000 UTCI agree but personally i'd say they're different with how she could control them/how deeply connected they were even when she was unaware of her ability or them just here screaming got them to act, but it could be something like the "voice of all things" popping up a lot within the royal bloodline = ancient weapon Poseidon. Who knows but hopefully we get to a point where its explained in greater detail. Edit: Didn't see the second reply but yeah wouldn't be oda's first time doing that.

2024-12-08 19:29:01 +0000 UTCeven if this was called the poseidon weapon for shirahoshi at some point i don't remember if it's only theories or said in the actual story but it's still very unclear what both ancient weapon and the voice of all things really are, poseidon could be just the voice of all thing but controlling only the sea kings or it could be something else. It would not be Oda's first time leading us to a wrong path just to make it more clear later

Think about how high a bounty kaido or even other emperors must have.

2024-12-08 18:40:53 +0000 UTCThe reason momo and luffy can hear the elephant is they both have the power to hear "the voice of all things" as Reighley mentioned in sabaody that Roger also had, it was also explained by reighley that its because of this power that roger could leave his message on the poneglyph in skypeia when robin asked him about it. I like to think the voice of all things is just pure vibe to vibe communication. Shirahoshi is kinda different because she has outright control over the sea kings as the ancient weapon Poseiden but it could also have some overlap maybe.
