2025-05-06 03:31:27 +0000 UTCyou somthing really cool?, when shifu shows the finger hold he says "you know the hardest part?, the hardest part, is cleaning up afterwards", which implies that when shifu uses it on someone, THEY EXPLODE AND GET GUTS EVERYWHERE,, po on the other hand wasnt taught it and had to figure it out, but when po uses it the person gets banished to the spirit realm, which means po basically perfected a special move that was used for centuries

The scrolls lesson is that spirituality. Shifu failed Tai Lung because he trained him exclusively physical without developing him spiritually.

I think 2 might have it as a standalone movie, but i kinda think it does less as part of a trilogy... which isn't to say that it is bad as part of a trilogy, just that it doesn't do as much to prop it up as 1 does.

2024-12-12 08:32:48 +0000 UTCOne of my favorite fun facts about this movie is the original telling of Tai Lungs backstory didn't have the part about him attacking the valley in a rage. It just went straight to him trying to take the scroll, after the rejection. The test audience for the film didn't see Tai Lung as a villain so the added the line/scene of him attacking the valley so he would appear more evil, and there was proof he had "darkness within him." to back up what Oogway had said. cause without it Tai Lung only fights in self-defense/self-preservation, in the entire movie except at the end with Shifu and Po, he is never the one to start a fight someone attacks or threatens him first. In the flashback he tries to avoid Shifu and Oogway and goes straight for the scroll. In the prison nearly all the rhinos charge or attack him first. The five on the bridge, again he tries to avoid them, attempts to jump over them as they cut the bridge, only for Tigress to kick him back, and even after she hit him, he talks to them, and again Tigress attacks him, during a moment when it looked like he was about to continue the conversation. He didn't attack the people fleeing the valley, even thought there is a good chance he had to go past them to reach the Jade palace. AND finally when he made it to Shifu, he talked to him, and double checked that Shifu intended to fight him, before attacking. TLDR: Tai Lung wasn't as evil as some people believe he is.

There was never an endpoint but the dragon scroll. But tai lung would not understand that there is nothing to strive for, no secret ingredient. Your belief in yourself and your value is everything. Po wasn't the dragon warrior because of a scroll, but because he believes himself able to stop tai lung.

I think that could be a really sad statement on how bad his self worth is. He defined his whole personality on being the dragon warrior so when he just sees his refelection in the scroll, he says without thinking it is "nothing" like he himself is not enough and basically nothing of worth. Of course that could be too much interpretation but I really liked that scene.

He was trying to Kip-up or Kick up; it's when you kick your feet hard enough to launch your body in the air and you try to land on your feet. I feel he just did the motivation all wrong by implanting the seeds of expected greatness. If he had spent that attention on Tigress then I think she would be just as powerful.

2024-12-11 12:41:54 +0000 UTCA lot of people don't understand why ugway died. But if you remember that first conversation where he says 'one often finds his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it.' That actually has a much deeper meaning once you take the thought to it's logical conclusion and ask yourself what would have happend if Ugway had never told Shifu that Tai Lung was coming back. Yes, That's right. This entire series of events was instigated by Ugway. Because he knew that he was dying. And he had to bring matters with Tai Lung and the dragon warrior to a head while he was still around to guide HIS student Shifu. He knew that Sifu would have to train the dragon warrior. But that he was traumatized and not really able to. In a way Shifu's journey with and even his love for kung fu died when Tai Lung went bad. And Ugway more than anything wanted to see Shifu come out of his rut and heal. Unfortunately he didn't get the time to completely see it through as there are unfortunately things that even great kung fu masters can not control. And that too was part of his final lesson. And I just thaught that was really heartwarming. In the end perhaps even ugway himself was struggling with this cocnept. Putting off the issue with Tai Lung until the very end of his life. Hoping for some better resoltion. But it came to this in the end anyway.

I know it’s a generally corny twist, but really thinking about it, it wasn’t about whether or not Po believed in himself, but a test of whether or not Shifu was capable of believing in Po. Po could train all day every day for a million years but it wouldn’t make a difference unless Shifu was capable of taking that leap of faith.

Like everyone has things they want to get better with, but sometimes it takes understanding one's self to really improve. Accept what you can and can't change. Po is a panda his body is made to be big, this is something he can't change and needs to accept. (Some people are like that genetically too.) What he can change is what he can do with said body to make the most of it as a Kung Fu master. He can't change how his mind is food motivated so he and Shifu take advantage of that and instead turn it into a positive allowing him to learn Kung Fu far faster than someone who never lifted a weight in their life should be able to. As for the Dragon Scroll it's important to consider what it's for, and that is teaching the SECRET to limitless power. The secret is that there is no secret anyone is capable of anything if they believe in themselves, and THAT is what Oogway was trying to convey. But if Tai Lung saw the scroll then he would have still been outraged because he had no self value, he wanted power to make himself feel important and impress Shifu. No matter what only someone who would get it was worthy hence why Po was chosen.

(Though I still feel the personal connection between Shifu and Tai Lung made Tai Lung a slightly better villain? Idk. Villain 2 is in many ways more entertaining than Angry Muder Kitty.) Anyways. It's really good. 3 is a definite downgrade, retreading some of the beats of the first one, and focusing a lot more on childish humour. But it is still a fairly enjoyable movie with great lessons, an intimidating (if slightly forgettable) villain, and a perfect conclusion to Po's arc as a character. . . . 4 was and feels unnecessary.

When it came out it was kind of a sleeper. Funny kungfu cartoon with Jack Black. No one was expecting to much. But It and its Direct sequel really hit the highest notes of Animated movies. number 3 is still really good. But not as good. Worth a watch. Number 4 is a lot more divisive. Some loved it some hated it. But all agree its Definitely no where near as good as the first 2. Worth a watch in my opinion.

2024-12-11 03:54:43 +0000 UTCIf you go back and pay attention to what Oogway says and does you actually start to notice that he was leaving little hints for Shifu on what he should do. He could have blown out the candles just like Shifu did, yet he chose to try to blow them out 1 by 1 because he wanted to teach Shifu to be patient with Po, he hinted that Shifu's paranoia on Tai Lung escaping was what was gonna cause the escape in the first place, but most importantly, he already knew who the Dragon Warrior was gonna be, and he set in motion everything that needed to happen in order for Shifu to find peace for himself and for Po to fulfil his destiny of becoming the Dragon Warrior. It might not have been the intention, but I do like how that makes Oogway even more wise than he already is.

2024-12-11 02:13:32 +0000 UTCTwo things about the dragon scroll 1 it being blank to show the person's face is not so much as saying there is nothing to it, but more to say they have become it and don't need some special training for they already are the dragon warrior, to be given the scroll alone is proof enough of that. 2 oogway never could let tai lung see the scroll, cause he couldn't understand it, it was something he never would have figured out, so even if he was worthy in every other aspect, it was destined to go bad. Yet another destiny one could not avoid meeting.

There IS a TV movie that covers their histories tho, so if you get a chance definitely check it out. But I do wish the movies had incorporated them a bit more. That aside I LOVE THE FIRST 3 MOVIES. the second one is just *chef kiss* perfection 👌

Not just the feather, but a lot of the actions meant to prevent him from leaving helped him. The crossbows freed him from the shackles and gave him a path up. Raising the platform got it high enough for him to climb out. The falling rocks gave him a path to the last explosives that cleared out the rest of the soldiers. We got a good scene of him beating guards, but his most notable moments are him using their own resources against them.

You have Po who looks and sees just himself because of his simple viewpoint, it is a mirror so he just sees his reflection. Shifu views it as the ultimate key of kung-fu and so he sees it blank with no script or secret to reveal, and the best one is Tai Lung who has been raised and trained to believe that he is the Dragon Warrior and that the scroll is the trophy at the end and what he uses to validate his self-image, and he looks and all he sees is 'nothing' because in his mind, without the Dragon Warrior that is all he is. Tai Lung, if he is not the Dragon Warrior is nothing.

Be it a parent with their reasons, or a close friend to them, they really thought Tai's life would be in better hands than those around them. Only to instead lead him to a life of self-crazed ambition that puts everyone to fear him.

It's still the main message, but Po didn't earn the scroll until Shifu believed he was worthy on top of Po gaining confidence in himself. Still corny as hell, but I'm not as mad at it as some might be :P Also suggesting that his fat would be his secret weapon turned out to be kinda right xD

It took 20 years for them to get that lacks around him and the original measures were rightfully strict considering he escaped and how despite decades of immobility. In regards to Oogway: Tai Lung wasn't just undeveloped. Shifu had trained him his entire life to be the dragon warrior. He had gained so much power, yet only had eyes for the title. He lacked humility. Simply being denied that title, despite the respect and power he already had, drove him to attack his father and Oogway himself. Tai Lung had equated his value to being the dragon warrior. The whole point of the dragon scroll is for the reader to understand that their value is intrinsical to them. If Tai Lung saw it, his life's meaning would fall apart, as seen at the end. He was a walking nuke destined to blow up.
