Balls!?


Today, I found out that I didn't have to anything for one class this week (it's JUnit testing and the project that's due is a 3 modules submitted together but the milestones for the last 3 weeks were those 3 modules, the final submission being all the modules and their unit tests and incorporating feed back from the instructor but I got perfect scores on all of those milestones so there was no feed back to incorporate so I just submitted everything as it was :3)

I spent a good chunk of the day animating, most of it figuring out this balls stuff.

I really wanted to add this in and tbh my rigs weren't meant for this kind of stuff! I didn't think about animation something like this, but I've made a few changes so that the balls have more options/better controls.

All very WIP, the first 2 gifs are tests and the last one is WIP of the real thing. Originally, I was going to use the wiggle bones to animate balls for the most part, so they were parented to the spine root bone. This doesn't really work well when animating interactions like this though, because the ball moves with the root bone so if the hips move, the balls move as well.

To get around this, I used my usual method of having control bones that drive the influence of constraints. There is one on the left ball that copies the transform of the main tongue bone and one that on the right that copies the transform of a bone not parented to the root bone so it won't move with the hips. Though it means I'll have to put extra care into animating the balls, but that's not a big deal I think.

So, after he pulls out, she gets to work on the balls, then after a bit he goes back inside.
