CAPRAMOMS STATE OF THE UNION - 2022

Hey there, patrons!

This is Capy, editor and co-founder of this Patreon. Some have you might have noticed a bit of irregularity in the stuff we've been posting the last few months, and we're really sorry if it hasn't been meeting your expectations lately. When we started this thing about a year ago we didn't have any schedules or series in mind, it was mostly meant to be a tip jar for folks to chip into and give Baphy a stable chunk of income to supplement what they make off commissions and hopefully grant more freedom to work on their own personal projects. In exchange, the least we could do was offer up some timed exclusive art, as well as WIPs, hi-res files and other goodies expected from most artists here.

And you folks have been great! It's been a blast doing polls, getting things done and posting whatever special treats we could on here for you. We don't plan on quitting here or anything either!

Unfortunately, the latter half of 2021 did not treat us well at all. Without getting too much into detail, we've been going through a lot of mental, interpersonal, and familial turmoil, which has not only left us exhausted and upset but has done a number on our output, both commissions and operations here. Ever since our trip in the summer to see ailing family, things have been consistently miserable, and though we've been doing our best to stay active, making stuff's been very touch and go. Baphy especially has been struggling mentally - it's bad enough going through what we are, but ADHD and ASD have made it especially difficult to cope with things on the day-to-day, let alone work on something contingent on mood and passion such as drawing. I wish I could say there was a finite end to this spell somewhere, but we've just been taking it one day at a time.

Long story short, we may be a bit quieter for a bit longer, but we're not leaving you guys high and dry. Baphy will continue to post whenever there's something to show for it, and I might just squeeze in some more bonus sketches if folks are interested. We really appreciate the patience you've shown us so far, and hope you stick around through the weeds while we get back to smooth sailing.

And what if I told you we've got some pretty cool shit in the works? Like some real long-term plans?

It's still a ways out, but Baphy and I are currently mapping out and exploring the realm of game development! Yours truly has been sitting on a full license for GameMaker Studio for quite a while now, and both of us have been itching to get started. Game development will in no way replace the usual stuff we post, there'll still be plenty of pinups and WIPs and polls in the future, they'll just be joined by occasional progress reports, sketches and other juicy little butt marbles we leave behind as we plow into uncharted territory.

In order to get our feet wet, we're gonna be starting with a pretty rudimentary visual novel starring everyone's favorite jolly mom, Delphi! Will you have what it takes to survive an afternoon with a ten foot tall, heavily pregnant firbolg? Expect multiple endings and a good smattering of art, even if this is more of a dry run than anything! We'll keep you posted on its progress, it'll be our very first attempt at anything more complicated than comics so I don't expect this to be banged out over the course of a weekend. 

Our second project is much, MUCH more ambitious and will probably be something we'll be chewing on for some time, but it's something we really believe in that would scratch a very particular itch. I'll let you in one ONE detail for now: it's going to revolve predominantly around Dwarven fantasy. If that doesn't get your nipples exploding with delight, I don't know what will.

I know this is a whole lot of words for a primarily NSFW Patreon, and I appreciate every one of you who made it to the bottom of this post. We've both been feeling pretty guilty about the lapse here and felt that we owed our supporters a bit more insight as to what's going on here and where we're going. Stay tuned, because rain or shine we're gonna be doing some pretty cool stuff!
