They’re using Hulu to watch. I watched on Hulu too. I guess “The Message” is already watched and done. Following the show’s current atmosphere, It wouldn’t make sense to throw in the other episodes now. They contain huge pieces of character backstory, but they don’t directly play into the season finale. And they’re very calm episodes. It’s a nice way to start season 2. I did read that (from a post 4 years ago) there were streaming services playing major storytelling episodes out of order that messed with continuity. Hulu’s lineup plays those major episodes correctly. The only few episodes out of order on Hulu (the ones right here, end of season 1, beginning of season 2) are good to watch as stand alone episodes. When watching those few episodes, I noticed the intros were different, but I didn’t sense anything out of order.

Actually yeah. I totally forgot some the season 1 episodes were played out of order. I'm surprised someone didnt bring it up before you got to here. OOPS

I don't know if whatever you are using has the episodes in a different order or something but I believe you may have skipped a couple episodes. After Rose's Scabbard, the episodes should go to Open Book, Shirt Club, Say Uncle (a noncanon crossover episode with another Cartoon Network show), and Story for Steven ( A HUGE LORE EPISODE), then this uploads episode - The Message. I don't know if some places have them listed differently or not, but there definitely is a watch order. I do know CN has certain episode from S1 listed in S2 instead because the order the episodes were released in was altered to make sure the season finale aired on the schedule that Cartoon Network wanted it too. However they stated that if they ever made a blu-ray the order of the episode would change to fit what they actually intended.
