It has both magic and technology, animals with varying degrees of anthropomorphism, dinosaurs, gods and demons, it's got it all. The first the original manga was just one series (Z was an anime decision to highlight the change in tone) which ran for 42 volumes. The Dragon Ball anime is around 160 episodes and includes some decent filler. DBZ ran about 270 episodes and includes substantial filler. Those are the original series. DBGT was a continuation series not written by the original author and has it's good and weak points. DBZKai was a remaster of DBZ by updating the animation, redoing the dub and the soundtrack, and cutting out the filler. I think it's like half the length of the original DBZ. DB Super is a continuation that WAS written by the author and is considered a different continuity from GT, and is seen more favorably, but also has it's share of weaknesses. DB was the classic shonen series and defines the genre to this day. Naruto takes a great deal from it, and MHA in turn takes a lot from Naruto.

2020-03-02 00:15:12 +0000 UTCDragon ball takes place on it's own version of Earth. There are dinosaurs and animal people and scifi cars and buildings. There are no recognizable locations like Japan, America, etc. I used to like theorizing that due to the existence of the Dragon Balls and their wishes, the world is the way it is. Dinosaurs were extinct, then someone wished them back. Someone wanted animal people so they wished for that. The list goes one but, because of how hard to find the Dragon Balls are supposed to be, I think people just forget why the world is the way it is over the centuries. However this all gets thrown to the wayside when considering the actual Dragon Ball timeline. The Dragon Balls on earth were only created 267 years before Goku was born. Not enough time for people to forget why dinosaurs and dog/cat men exist.
