I think, like the sea its self, Aquarius is supposed to represent a force of nature. and like nature you cant control her. nature is both vicious and kind, and can switch between the two moods at the drop of a dime. Its why Lucy is always hit when she summons Aquarius.

I have this whole dissertation/video essay idea I want to do on characters that represent hope and how the characters look different from each other therefore showing the many facets of hope, and Natsu's at the top of the list. Don't really know why I'm sharing that with you, I just got really excited whenever you equated Natsu with new hope.
