Yes! I was excited for you to get to this episode to find out that Gray strips for a reason! I'm on a rewatch of the show right now, and I just got to the arc that brings all of this up again in full force, and I'm not ready for the emotional roller coaster!

This isn't just a one off tear jerker, this is a legitimately important character point for Gray and so much of his character going forward refers back to Ur, so many shows would have this be something that is shown and by the next arc the character is over it, that's not how fairy tail rolls
