2021-03-19 00:01:44 +0000 UTCSo I see that no one answered the question about where dragon ball gets its inspiration from. Basically in Asia(and I say Asia because I’m not sure exactly where it originates) they have this mythology about a Monkey king which is basically a half man half monkey and half god, he has a poll that extends indefinitely according to his will and has a cloud which he can fly on. Naruto is also the same thing with the Nine tails thing. It all comes Asian mythology which you will come to learn by watching anime. It’s pretty cool.

2021-03-18 23:43:21 +0000 UTCI'm pretty sure that Dragon Ball is what put Tournament Arcs on the map, probably cause they have 3 of them in the original series alone. Also I second Collin. Yu Yu Hakusho, which was widely inspired by Dragon Ball, has the best Tournament arc in all of anime.

2020-11-09 11:34:36 +0000 UTCA HUGE sucker for tournament arcs. There's just something special about the level of competition and rooting for your favorite characters during those arcs. Plus it shows off the abilities pretty well in a nonforced way. Might have to add Yu Yu Hakusho to the list now! 😊
2020-05-04 13:34:42 +0000 UTCI'm looking forward to seeing you reaction to the tournament! FYI, if you're a sucker for good tournament arcs Yu Yu Hakusho has the best tournament arc in anime. It's another awesome shonen anime that was airing around the same time as Dragonball Z (at least in the U.S.).
