You keep referring to the world Steven lives in as "post-apocalyptic", but I honestly have no idea where you're getting that idea. The world never ended. Also, Volleyball's mind was completely turned off for those 8000 years. She wasn't just repressing her feelings. She had no feelings. Or thoughts. Just imagine that. She was likely taken control of after Pink damaged her as a punishment for being too careless with her things. Just blip. 8000 years gone in an instant from her point of view. And the memory of being cracked by Pink is probably still fresh in her mind. It may have only been days or even hours between being cracked and being taken from Pink.
