Kirrito wanted Excalibur but it was too heavy for him to hold and make the jump to Tonky. The subtitles did not convey that. This series has the worst subtitles that I have ever watched. Keep it on dub ias long as you can hear it. I know you have to keep the volume down a bit.

Couple of important notes. Asuna does have some family. Her parents, and an older brother. Although i am not sure we ever meet her brother. But that is actually an important thing, similar to Agil's story about his wife. Asuna's BROTHER is the one who bought SAO. But he had to work on launch day, so Asuna snuck into his room and played the game first. And that is how SHE got stuck in SAO. But that is also important for the whole being called to Kyoto, and the "suitors." The Yuuki family is extremely wealthy, but they already have a family heir...and it ISNT asuna. So yeah there are lots of pressures on her to be "of use" to the family. One such way is of course to find a rich, connected, powerful husband. But yeah as you may have noticed, this arc is going to be very Asuna centric.

OVA is an Orignal Video Animation. Their purpose is to sell DVDs, by putting exclusive content on the DVD. There is a story in Norse Mythology of Thor dressing up as his sister Freya to recover Mjolnir after it was stolen. That is what that whole story was. Ordinal Scale (the movie) is canon, but was written after season 3/4 but takes place between 2/3, so there are no spoilers for the movie in season 3. Also the movie is 2 hours long. The OP changes a few times between now and the end of the season, so keep an eye on it.
