Regarding tiering: tiering in Dragon Ball is difficult for a couple of reasons. We don’t really get a definitive ceiling for powers until super and by that point the power scaling is so absurd that tiering doesn’t really apply. You could in theory but the differences between the tiers would be so drastic I wouldn’t see much of a point. I know power levels are a hot button topic but in my opinion it’s probably the best way to compare the characters in the series. If you want numbers for that I can try and provide estimations.

I love listening to Chris Sebat

OK, I tell Kat NOT TO TRY AND BREAK ANYTHING with a chop and what does she do?! To answer your question, the easiest wood to break is pine due to the grain being so prominent. Young kids (like myself back in the day) can break wood so easily because they break with the grain and not against it. When you get older you can break different types of wood as you get stronger and can even go against the grain if your technique is good. Breaking your book is not going to happen because it is bound and reinforced against exactly that. SO STOP TRYING. I don't want to have to explain to Tat why you decided to break your hand on martial arts advice you supposedly got from me. Now you've met my boy Yajirobe. We all know that Goku is always going to be the strongest but think about this. Yajirobe was able to actually keep up with him in a sparring match at this point of the adventure. After all his training and years spent traveling he found a good opponent in this random mountain man. I love this boy. BTW, there is no mention in canon on if Yajirobe was trained by anyone special or simply got this way naturally by living in the mountains all his life. He did mention classes but that could just be normal samurai classes taken by all in his clan. All we know is he is now a Ronin, a masterless samurai. Small side note, you mentioned how they got Krillin dressed for the capsule. They didn't. He died in the suit remember. In the next episode you will see some stuff that references some of the antics that Tien and Chiaotzu got up to before the tournament. If you had watched the episode that introduced them as characters that was in the middle of filler before the tournament you would be better prepared for this, but just so you are aware here is the TLDR: They were traveling while training for master Shin and while doing so using a pet beast of theirs to terrorize villages. They then bluffed those villages saying they would fight and get rid of the beast for money when really just getting the beast to play dead and then move on with it. Goku found them and put a stop to it during his 3 year training period. I would suggest going back some time to watch this episode as it does introduce the characters as the antagonists leading into that arc which is something you missed. Coming up we have some more fun with Yajirobe and Goku and of course the rematch we talked about last week. Goku ain't playing this time.

Funimation never used the second opening for Dragon Ball in their version of the show. It began at 102 and continued to the end of the series. It had the same song but, featured relevant Piccolo arc stuff. Here is a link to a Youtube video featuring it but, beware of SPOILERS in the videos featured off to the side and possibly in the comments: https://youtu.be/BWI3d7tC2VY Also: Piccolo is the Best Dad. You may not understand this now but, in time you will get it. :D

As an example of the different translations. When cymbal was fried, Goku probably said things like "Its Not Safe" or "You got turn in to a monster" in English. In German he didn't say It's Not Safe, he said I've already eaten. Goku mentioned that there is a lot to eat and Yajirobe said that he will eat it by himself. To which Goku said no thanks. I have already eaten. Instead of you got turn in to a monster, he said in German that the meat was not cooked through. Yajirobe replied that he liked to eat his meat like that. Similar to Goku's "I'm gonna make you suffer", Piccolo doesn't say "I want him to be killed slowly" in German either. So I think there are some differences.

The fact that King Piccolo felt the Loss of his Minion reminded me of Aku in Samurai Jack. Inspiration?
