Just watched the ninth episode reaction. About the budget for tanks and equipment, I'm pretty sure it's a public school, which I imagine would have funding set aside for the national sport. "Katyusha" is indeed a Russian word. It's a mobile rocket artillery platform. In fact, the vehicle that Katyusha and Nonna drove to greet Oorai was a Katyusha. The reason the Turtle team did so much better was because Anzu replaced Momo as the gunner. I'm not aware of a tank being buried mid-fight in real life but I am aware that the Soviets buried tanks prior to the Battle of Kursk. When I was young, I was forced to watch a historical drama. It wasn't a horror and the actual thing that scarred me didn't even happen on screen. But just seeing the aftermath terrified me. So I've been staying away from horror and trauma ever since. And thus I appreciate shows like GuP that have fun with their concept without inserting drama.

Just watched the eighth episode reaction. Still couldn't quite hear Dio until the end. I don't think they ever properly establish this but all the participating schools in the competition are Japanese (it is a national competition rather than an international one after all). It's just that every school we've seen so far, except for Oorai, model themselves after a specific country. So St. Gloriana is British, Sanders is American, Anzio is Italian, Pravda is Soviet and Kuromorimine is German (and the only school whose name is not in the language of the modelled country, I believe) but are all actually Japanese. About having snow treads on tanks, it was mentioned just before the match started that they put Winterketten (german for winter track) on the Stug III (the history club's tank)? The Winterketten on the right side were shot off, which is what you saw fall off just before they entired the building.
