I know it may have been said before but with the manga it is only called dragon ball. The Z was added to the anime to denote the separation between his childhood adventures and the ones he has as an adult.

In dragon ball episode 36 there is a hint that son goku is an alien. During the fight vs major metallitron when he scans goku there is writen "look aliens".

The thing about GT is that it only lasted for like 64 Episodes. Partly bc Akira Toriyama wasn't involved, but also bc it wasn't enjoyable to watch in general. Dragon Ball Super also had problems, but at least Toriyama Was involved and it Was enjoyable to watch. Besides, Dragon Ball GT was Depressing, whereas Dragon Ball Super was more Lighthearted.

I think you may have clicked onto a naming convention in this series...just wait for it haha. Gohan is definitely explored in this story so don't worry about trying to figure it his powers and other stuff this early. He grows. Things are about to get serious. Are you 2 ready for a massive change? Get ready for a major shock in the next episode of Dragonball Z!

Piccolo is my favorite too!!! Also Akira Toriyama's! It's definitely an ongoing joke that Goku is a bad dad. GT is considered non-canon to the point that Akira Toriyama has said it is "The grand side story" or a parallel / alternate universe or timeline. He's also said, if you don't like it, view it as a side story or if you do enjoy it, view it as the grand finale to Dragon Ball. A recent chapter in the manga Goku actually gives an explanation for his reasoning as to why he always tries to spare his opponents.
