The modern take on both of them are shaped largely by things like the Lord of the Rings, and things like D&D which took great inspiration from it, but there are always alternative interpretations too. Anyways, working from the most generally used tropes this is how I'd break it down. Goblins have a bad reputation in most fantasy as evil creatures, but generally speaking their strength is usually depicted as being based in their large numbers and cruelty, rather than being fearsome on an individual level in comparison to trained warriors or other monsters. They tend to be on or near the bottom of the pecking order of evil creatures, often being used as cannon fodder, or acting in wild bands as raiders that terrorize anyone without proper defenses to ward them off. They can be formidable if properly driven (often by fear of the one or ones leading them), but otherwise they're more opportunists than anything else. To the contrary, Dire Wolves would be traditionally among the stronger creatures, at least when compared to goblins. They are bigger, stronger, and meaner versions of wolves which are already extremely formidable in their more familiar form. They work in closely coordinated packs and are truly fearsome hunters, being especially dangerous at night due to their excellent senses. The Dire Wolves would also be great at ambushing their enemies and picking them off in small groups even if they were outnumbered. The goblins could likely take them on with a large enough numerical advantage, but if they were facing anything close to even numbers or were outnumbered then the goblins would be toast. Goblins tend to be cowardly as well, so they would likely be quick to break and flee the fight if faced with an enemy they knew to be much more powerful than them.

2021-08-18 04:37:30 +0000 UTCThe OP is super spoilery. If you want to watch this in sub(I have only watched this series in sub and have no idea if the dub is good or bad) switch over to Crunchyroll. They have all of the extras and ova's too. Oh, and I have a strong feeling that you will get to see more Goblin Slayer. I think its better than Demon Slayer and it won't get Worse than that first episode as far as the....well you know....and yes this is definitely an isakai, and not a game. The great sage was given to him by whatever God Reincarnated him after he died on earth along with other abilities that he requested as he died. This show is up there with Rising of The Shield Hero, Log Horizon , Konosuba, and Sword Art Online.
