Yeah, there is a few similarities between them. There is another character that looks even more similar Kirito, (A little too much) but again, neither have been confirmed to have any relation to Kirito.
It did make for cool fight scenes between Kirito and Kuroyukihime in the games though.

Again, I don’t think there was anything relating to SAO this time around. Later on there will be quite a few, but for now I’ll have to wait.
Those two characters wearing the samurai armor are quite interesting. Their backstory is pretty unique but at the very least isn’t tragic like many other characters (Kinda, still interesting though). Sadly, you don’t get to meet them properly until a lot later in the novels. I think it was some time after volume 18 or 20.
Finally volume 2 has started. This might feel like the beginning of a new arc, but it still part of the Start-Up arc or at least that's what Reki said. Some decided just to call it a new arc and name it after the novel, so it would be The Red Storm Princess Arc. But again, that's technically wrong. The stuff with Aqua Current is part of the short-story in volume 10, but I think if flows perfectly with the main story.
After this there will be quite a few new characters popping up. This series has a large amount of characters, many of which won’t appear in the anime, but there are some that appear now that will be important later on. It might be best to try to remember as many names as you can, the novels even have the important names written at the beginning of every novel while the newer ones have the names of every character that has had any sort of importance at any point (The newest one having 69 names written down).
Anyway, ill keep this one short since I’ve been quite busy lately but ill try to come up with a fun fact for next time.

I always think Kuroyukihime parents were Asuna and Kirito, and Kuroyukihime duel avatar resemble alot from Kirito Avatar in SAO as both use a high-speed, dual-sword fighting style and both has a black color scheme.
