Again, I keep getting amazed at how you can extract so much from these episodes. I especially appreciate it as a Reki fan since this series has gotten little to no attention by anyone ever since it aired. More so since when it does get attention it’s usually seen as either good but with a bad protagonist (Haru) or as probably bad since it’s by the author of SAO. Anyway, I completely agree that Reki is great with making characters. I have seen many times in stories that characters simply get over whatever problem they had like it was nothing. Reki, for better or worse, makes his characters struggle in a believable way that can really make those characters relatable even if you’re not going through the same situation. Even just relating with a certain aspect of a character makes it that much better. The downside of that is that he really likes to make his character suffer, and like I mentioned a bit before you started this series, AW is just filled with people suffering. The anime goes into some of it, but the later stuff in the novels really goes deep into stuff. Honestly, I can’t wait until you find out about Kuroyukihime’s family life, the other stuff with Niko, and some of the other characters that get introduced later. (That’s assuming you get to read the novels) I also can’t wait for you to meet Graphite Edge. I’m sure you’ll be as suspicious about him as I and many others are. He’s definitely an interesting one. He’s basically a walking SAO reference. But that’s also a long time away from where you are. As for SAO connections, you basically hit the nail on the head comparing Kuroyukihime’s zero fill to what happened to Kirito in Alicization. It’s basically the same thing and the cause of it is something that’s pretty important for a certain character in the future, although you won’t be getting to the resolution of that in the anime. Again, I’m sure you haven’t read the comment yet but ill remind that this episode had the same issue with translation. It translated Enhanced Armament to Reinforced Exterior and I still don’t get how you can translate that wrong. Also, the whole thing with Haru and that something saying “hungry” won’t be resolved (or I think even touched upon) during the anime. It’s an interesting arc but it doesn’t happen until right after where the anime ends. Speaking of arcs, you are finally beginning the Marauder Arc. This the second and last arc the anime covers, and like I think I’ve mentioned before, I really can’t wait to hear your opinion about this one. When I watched the anime I felt like the short story was mostly filler, but it does become a little more important later on so don't dismiss it like I did. For a fun fact, during an interview a while back, Reki, ABEC (Light Novel illustrator), and Miki (his editor) were asked a few questions about both SAO an Accel World. One of the questions was why there was no season 2 for AW and Reki simply said that Sunrise (AW animation studio) was too busy with other things but that he will try to make it happen (Granted this was like 6 years ago already). Someone else asked why not let A-1 do it, and they responded with the same thing. Reki’s editor, however, buts in and say they should let Kyoto Animation work on AW. Although it was mostly a joke, (I think) he did propose they could use ABEC’s connections with the studio to work something out (His sister is the character designer for K-on and such. She even drew Asuna in her style once.). Again, I doubt that season 2 will happen especially after they released the movie in 2016 that skipped a lot of content. Another thing form that same interview I found interesting was Reki saying that he never plans anything out when he writes, and that “All the characters come to me spontaneously. After that I treat them as humans and see how they'll act in certain situations. That's how I write.”
