Granted, the original Ocean's Dub is the true origin with a more exaggerated delivery. https://youtu.be/SiMHTK15Pik An interesting tidbit of information about that line is that in the manga Vegeta says "It's over 8000!" Just about every dub of the show AND games uses variations of 9000, from an over hyped delivery of the line to an incredibly subdued, "It's over 9000, huh..." aside from one odd correction to the line using 8000 in the initial DVD release of Kai but, in later releases of Kai it switched back to 9000.
