I think to help you guys with MVP, remember what the plot of the episode was about. There was a lot of backstory with Ushijima and Tendo. Sometime’s it’s not about the game but about what the characters brought to the episode. That’s just my opinion though.

Gotta love the evolution from casual viewers to hyped up volleyball fans that this show does.
I also love that you both are theorizing how the game is going to go based on the character writing. By season 4, you both will be spot on with your predictions.
Lastly, Carlie, I love that you remember the disrespect the local news (mostly that one female newscaster) has done our boys. I just find it hilarious haha

You’re probably right. I was vibing off UW’s mother’s face and felt his dad’s words felt final. Though, if UW’s father is in the minority of parents that keeps access, the most common arrangement is only a few hours a month. Tough!

i think in the flashback with tendou he said his parents just got divorced so might have not been the last memory

Many people miss the depth of heartbreak in this episode. Japan doesn’t recognize joint custody after divorce and one parent’s rights are completely dissolved with no legal right to access. Parental alienation is standard and his dad lives overseas so, it’s likely we saw Ushijima’s last memories with his father. Also, his father’s last and only request (while on his knees in front of his ex-wife and her mother) was that Ushiwaka remain left-handed. All while little Ushijima coloured 💔.
