But I think this is the full of it - both Echidna and Emilia had a tragedy in their past that took everything from them, all their dreams and loved ones and homes. Emilia has had the chance to find new people and goals and things to care about, and so even if given a chance to go back to how things might have been she refuses. But Echidna never got that chance. She died. And so now she's, well, consumed by Envy.
