Fluids baked, some things fixed...

I got the fluids baked yesterday, and today I fixed some smaller stuff with the 4skin, also I finished up an environment for it. It's a nice lil sauna. I thought it'd be fun if this was a relatively old wooden structure that's seen plenty of use, so the places where big dinos sit are warped inward due to long periods of heavy weight being on them.

Also, I thought it would be fun if the intended use of this sauna is to [j]iz[z] in a bowl, like there's plenty of them there, like imagine it being full, 6 or 7 large, sweaty dinos and their smaller friends partaking in the communal, stress-relieving act of rubbing one out.

I thought I'd have the house to myself to record some VA and sounds for this, but I didn't... so, might not be anything too crazy for voice this time. That's also why I haven't animated the bronto when the camera looks at him yet, but I'll do that tomorrow and get the final renders going. For sound effects... I'd like to record some fitting sounds of thick liquid splatting on a surface.

I have a few ideas of how I'd go about it, like maybe mixing up some pancake batter, putting it in a bottle of some kind, and squirting it out on a bowl or a baking pan (also it's a good excuse to make some pancakes!) possibly.

Anyway, I was going to attach only the viewport render with the final fluid bakes, but as I typed this, the prettier viewport render got done.

Speaking of that, here's a bit of "behind the scenes" for the scene itself! I've found that for shots like this, the only way to go about it is to just... make the scene with the intention of it being only viewed from what the camera sees. It can always been expanded or changed later if another animation takes place here!

What I thought would be really interesting is if the sauna is somewhere outside, and there's nature all around. And, the time of day is either early morning (sunrise) or afternoon (sunset). I just made a dome around the environment, use a public domain picture of a sunset I liked, and gave it an emission shader so it looks like it's glowy.

(You can find the picture here)

I didn't even make it looping or anything because it's only visible through gaps in the wood. I really, really like this look- it's a cheap way to add interest and depth to a place.

Once more thing to add a bit more interest is some more lights hanging about, with flickery lights to suggest a candle is within (or one of those LED bulbs that imitate candle light). They're point light sources with a keyframe for location and f-curve modifiers with random noise on the x, y and z channel.

Dunno how this will look with the full sample render, but it's much more obvious when the shadows are at like, 2 samples.

Also, here's the sauna rocks and bucket. Not very good looking, but they're viewed from far enough away that they look decent enough. I've never actually been in a sauna, but I just assume that the rocks are heated in some way, the bucket would contain water, and you pour the water on the rocks to produce steam (and keep pouring it on to make more steam).

I know all the gaps in the wood aren't good for keeping the steam in, but whatever- it's a fantasy world. Maybe they like it this way, who knows.

One final thing, I know the material for the [j][i][zz] isn't the best, but it's very difficult to make a fitting material for that (especially in Blender's Eevee renderer). I wanted to use the material I used in the last animation, but that one just didn't work very well when it started to fill the bowl.

Comments

Hehe... well, sometimes it's hard for me to not try doing something more complicated when an idea is simple! And plus, WS isn't for everyone (there were a few other people who weren't too keen on it) So I figured doing something that was equally complicated or more complicated would be fair!

You didnt really have to put alot of work for a non-watersports alt of the shower video, holy shit! O_O
