Parasaur concept and head model


I felt like modeling a character for something I've been wanting to do, something to get more inspired. It's hard to explain but I've just felt empty since finishing the dragon animation and working with the bronto (and the all the headaches that animating the AV/double ended toy has given me) has left me feeling down.

I made a parasaurolophus because I think they have such a cool head shape.

I also thought I should finally record my process, something I've been meaning to do but always forget about by the time I'm knee deep in things. I started with drawing one of the three sketches for this guy. I liked this one the most because it felt cute, but I liked aspects of the other sketches I did.

Like this one I liked the bold jaw shape:

I'll do time lapses for all (or most at least) parts of this character's creation. Maybe stream some, idk. In any case, I'll do as little as possible off-screen (besides minor tweaking since that's not very exciting or important to document)

oh wow, it was fascinating to watch that come together-- I didn't realise you work starting from low poly! I do the same, but it seemed like everyone else had changed to tracing over zbrush sculpts, and I wasn't sure if I was being old-fashioned.... the results speak for themselves, though!
