The Reprise for Art of the Dress mentions a budget, so I can only assume that the change from "gifts to friends" to "commission for customers" would have done something to the pacing or tone, and they played into the quasi-Musical nature of this episode by packing a lot of plot into a single line of song. It was certainly an episode to evoke strong emotions.

Hahahahahaha Yeah, Suited For Success was definitely written by someone who understood what it was to be a freelance artist. Pretty harsh to write the others as being simultaneously tasteless AND ungrateful, but such is the balance of morality-focused programming. You have to show how even good people can thoughtlessly do unsavory things, because how else can it stick in the mind of a child? It's one thing to portray a villainous character having such poor manners and qualities, but when it's a character they identify with, who otherwise is a good person like they think themselves to be? That challenges you to recognize how YOU can be that problem person. To be presumptuous, ungrateful. That said, it's not a bad episode in MY opinion because it teaches the often thankless side of the artist-for-hire. People ARE like that, and something like this brings an awareness to it. It's almost certainly influenced me whenever I hire freelancers. I tend not to restrict them unnecessarily, offering take-it-or-leave-it ideas they can choose to incorporate if it's actually a good idea. I try to divorce myself from some hard expectation and leave my mind open to an interpretation I might never have considered, and defer to their understanding of form and design. It's certainly served me well and gained me a decent reputation as a buyer. Plus, "Art of The Dress" is a well-written bop, actually inspired by a Streisand number, "The Art of Art." You want an episode that is simultaneously fun, but can teach a VERY bad message, that despite the writers insistence STILL very much rubs me the wrong way? Well, that's gonna be Episode 15... I'll have a fair bit to say

The DJ pony's name in most official media is DJ-PON3, but among the fandom, she's generally referred to as Vinyl Scratch.
