Date an Otter May Devlog
Added 2021-05-23 23:17:35 +0000 UTCWelcome back to another Otter devlog. There's not a whole lot to report this time, so just know that development is going smoothly.
So far, I've finished 4 of the 11 pieces of art needed to complete the female route.
Things may be running a bit slower than normal due to a bump up in the number of commissioned pieces I've drawn since the last demo. Still, I'm hoping to knock out the remaining pictures by the end of next month. I can't guarantee the game will be done by the next devlog, but I'll certainly be doing my best to push through this final stretch. Date an Otter pictures take a bit longer to draw than my usual art pieces due to the complicated poses and complete backgrounds, so I'm hoping to adapt my schedule to work on them faster.
If everything goes well, the final demo will be out in June or July. Once that's out, I'd really like to strongly urge all of you to give a run through the final game and give me as much feedback as you can! Once I've gathered enough feedback and I'm confident the game's ready to be published, it will be going live on itch. This will most likely be a one or two week window between the final demo and release, so get your feedback to me quick when it goes live!
I've been thinking a lot about what my next project will be. The current plan is to learn how to make 3D games. That means I'll likely spend a month (or a few) learning character modeling, 3D animation, 3D game development, and more. It may be a bit before I'm ready to share my next project's progress, but I'm still planning to share updates each month here on Patreon.
The two projects I'm considering should be a lot of fun (and small in scope). The first is a blind date generator. The game would create a girl from premade assets (with a fancy algorithm I've been planning out) and you'd go on a small set of dates with the girl before having a steamy night with her. Ideally, this will include modding support for more randomness and a code system so that you don't lose the girl you romanced forever. The good thing about this idea is that it can be as big or as small as I feel it should be, which should allow me to work through a lot of the growing pains of a new workflow.
The other planned project is Date a Mink 3D/VR. I'm not sure if I've posted about the last idea, but I know I've posted about this idea before. This game would have you going on a date with Eris. I'm currently planning two short stories for this game. One would function as a demo and test of the systems I'd like to implement in the final game. It would be a simple date and lewd scene. The full story I have planned revolves around a weekend spent by the sea. I've done a lot of thinking on how to adapt my visual novels to 3D and virtual reality and I think this idea will really help bridge the gap towards eventually developing Catgirl Care (I haven't forgotten).
Anyhow, I hope this wall of text is enough to tide you all over just a bit longer while I draw more Otters! Thanks as always for your support!
