After reading the comments I realized that I might have created a problem with reading of my name by coming from a different country - just in case - it's Sasha in English :D And yeah, I've watched first 2 seasons before reading the novels, and enjoyed them very much. But coming into Alicization after I've just recently read them - it was a bit of a disappointment for me. Although by the time War of the Underworld came out, I adjusted my expectations and it was fun again :) As for the speed - yep, since there are ~60 novels that Reki has published *aside* side stories, it is already more than weeks in a year. If we take an approach of 1/10 of the book per week - it'll take to read them pretty much the same time as it took to publish them all, and thus who knows how many more he'll write by that time :D That brings us to a in interesting and kind of scary situation, of having this discussion continue for the rest of our lives but I can't say I mind that XD But that also brings up the question from Cris's comment about reading ahead of what we have in a show - even if we double the current speed, with cleverly organized order of novels to read, it would be possible to read most of the novels and not going ahead of the SAO show in upcoming years. Except for possibly Progressive part, since I believe it should be read way before Unital Ring. P.s. But no matter the speed - I absolutely love the current lvl of details that you made in this video and don't wish it to change :)

I really didn’t think that this would start as quickly as it did, but I’m not complaining. I did enjoy the way that it’s set up right now with you commenting at any point instead of waiting till the end. I only got lost a few times but that’s probably because I was trying to watch the video, keep up with the book, and eat at the same time, so yeah. Саша Одинец and I were talking on twitter and he mentioned how it was going to take a really long time to finish just the novels. Based on his math, at minimum it would take you 1.2 years to finish the novels for AW and SAO if you were to finish an entire novel a week. Seeing as that’s a lot, it would probably take a whole lot longer. Basically, this means were here for the long run. Anyway, I don’t know in which order you will read comments, but I do think I mentioned in one of the AW ones (Or something else) that the SAO novels are written mostly in first person but that whenever it changes character perspective it switches to third person. I think that both styles are pretty good for him, but I do feel like he writes action better when it’s third person over first. At least that’s what I remember thinking during the Alicization novels since it’s switches quite a bit between Kirito and Eugeo. AW is written entirely in third and The Isolator is as well. I also can’t wait for you to see all the cut content for SAO. There isn’t much regarding Aincrad, at least for the first two novels, but there is Aincrad related stuff that was cut from later volumes. Fairy Dance had a side quest, so to speak, that was cut out (But was referenced later in the anime). Phantom bullet was pretty well done, but Mother’s Rosario was probably the most well adapted out of all of them. Alicization though, that’s when you see the big parts that are cut. I did want to ask if you’re planning on reading ahead for SAO. AW I doubt we’ll ever get another season for that since it’s already been nine-ish years, but SAO will definitely have another season eventually. Granted, it is like a few years eventually. Probably like 2025 type of eventually. Still, it will be coming. In my opinion, I’d say you should since they are two completely different experiences. Although, that might not always be for the best if Alicization was anything to base it from. As long as you have an open mind when watching the anime adaptation, you won’t end up like the fan base did when war of underworld part 2 was airing. Seriously, some people just gave up on the anime entirely. Anyway, I came out of work not too long ago and I work the night shift so I’m falling asleep writing this. For a quick fun fact, Reki recently wrote a short story that is supposed to be included with some merchandise over in Japan, but like usual, he ended up writing too much. This happens literally every time, including when they wanted a bit more content for the anime, key word “a bit”. This man basically wrote an entirely new story (Which is basically what progressive 1 became). He says that he has something like a curse that makes him so he always has to write, so I don’t blame him.

Still hard to believe this is happening :D Waiting for this day, I found myself wishing to reread the first novel again - and I do it from time to time, usually not all of it, but most of it, so that to finish in one go before sleep for example. And I already have 3 copies (different translations and editions) of SAO 1, but all of them are back home and not accessible for me at the moment so I just went and bought the 4rd one (digitally this time) and reread it before watching the reaction. And that leads to a moment in reaction, that "you can never go back and have same experience as first time" - I actually feel like every time I go back to this particular volume, it's as if I go into it for the first time. Of course, not exactly the same, I remember it all, but it's as emotional... or even more so, now that I rediscover it with new knowledge, especially after reading every new Progressive volume. You just see the same moments in a very different light, and that shows how great Reki's writing is. In every occasion of "this is bad writing" I've heard so far - it was all about the general story, mostly based on watching the anime - at least in my experience... So most "critics" of his writing didn't actually read the book I guess. Or even if they did, it was never about "how" he writes. but about "what" he writes. And of course I will never agree with that. Even waiting for this reaction, I felt connected to how Kirito waited for SAO's launch in these chapters :D There's not a lot in 2 chapters alone, but even here one of the things that Reki captured so great - the fact, that eventually in our life we encounter the existence of friends of our friends, and it might not be easy to get along with them as much. And as I see it, Kirito, knowing how hard it is for him to connect with people, wasn't sure if he *can* get along with them, which would put a burden on his new friendship - something he would like to avoid. But even better - Klein sees his reaction and understands it. He most likely had a lot more experience in that area, and just goes back with his pushing as soon as sees it makes Kirito uncomfortable and gives him time and space to get along if he will like to. Which is, using the phrase from many previous reactions - *so real*, although not everyone is as understanding as Klein is IRL :) Another thing that I really like, is the perspective that Reki gives us on the population of this world via Kirito's eyes - "the instance this creature dies, it's knowledge would be reset" "so in a sense - this lizardman *was* alive". It brings so much to question about both the real world and the world Reki created. Like some would ask - what does it matter, that he killed the npc, how could he care about some program-girl that only exists in this world, which might be translated to how we ourselves care or not about fictional characters, about our personal things, like pc or bike and etc. You could see, that Kirito would care about such things. And another topic that comes from this one moment - does it mean, that once we delete someone's memories, it is essentially death of a person that was formed from them? That brings so much more weight to so many things Reki wrote after that, as you could imagine after watching SAO and Accel World. I really enjoyed the format of this episode, so not sure how to comment on how I would like to see it in the future - all I know, that if it will be the same, it will be an easy way for me to enjoy this series again alongside with you :) I might even enjoy the pauses to discuss more, than collecting notes and then talk about these moments afterwards. At least, for a book reading - its nature is much slower and better suited for that. In that sense, using audio might bring back the problem of not looking at screen when making notes (but in this case would be splitting of attention), but if it will make it easier for you to review the book - Yen press announced that in August, which is pretty soon, they will release the audiobook of the first Volume, narrated by the same actor who plays Kirito in the English version of the Anime - Bryce Papenbrook. Though in my opinion it would create its own problems, including the fact that books have amazing art in them, and it will not be as easy to pause the process for discussion too,) The last thing I'll add just in case, is that English isn't my first language, so I hope the comment did not had as many problems as it could, giving the size of it :D
