Personally, with the benefit of hindsight, I would have put jyria’s backstory in the gap in between Naruto and shippuden. I think it is a good way of feeling the time skip and foreshadowing the future events in this section of Naruto.

2021-12-19 03:56:05 +0000 UTC127: It's mildly important to note that despite the narration this occurs during the 2nd Shinobi World War and the previous Kakashi backstory takes place during the 3rd. I don't know if this is a problem that is also present in the manga, but chronologically it has to be. The Sannin would have been older teens at the end of this episode.
