Krillin was often seen as a weak character for sure, but he was always smart enough to be able to get himself out of trouble.....most of the time. He was more of a cautious and strategic fighter, and knew his own strengths and weaknesses very well where Yamcha was too boastful and never cautious enough.

They do have some explanation later on and that is what gave us an idea. We really didnt know the full story until we watched the OG in full.
