Solid points for consideration. However let me give some counter, counter viewpoints(argument sounds a tad aggressive). 1.Spoilers?: The fact that there is a show, is part of the challenge. F.eks in a world where the animated series had yet to be made (that other thought will not escape into the universe.) OR AAOG had started with the stream before the show, i would aggree start with the stream. However now that they have started the animated series, if AAOG start the stream, they may encounter the challenge of which to continue, once the next season of Legend starts. If they try to run both simultaniouly, that just spoils both versions. 2.Lore: Well? this is something of a roundabout issue. I would consider this to be akin to the Original VS Prequel trilogy in Star wars. Depending on which trilogy you watch first, certain details will be spoiled. I agree there is some lore that might lose impact, But C2 was specifically designed to be as removed from C1 as possible. So any Cities, Gods, factions, artifacts, characters, worldbuilding, etc. . from C1 is not meant to be relevant. 3.Continuity: Again gotta point out that C2 was designed to be seperate from C1. Both your examples, are either a single story(see dragon ball MANGA) or a direct sequel to eachother. (Naruto/Boruto) So of course there are spoilers, and relavant lore that is affected. (See Stars wars trilogies analogy above.) 4.Catharsis: Good point however, have to remind you that they started C1 about halfway through progression (Lvl 9-10 right?) And transitioned from Pathfinder, meaning they skipped a bunch. For relative newbies such as AOOG who are looking for tips, starting in the middle is probably not best. 5.Context: I assume this is in relation to the series as well as the stream? Understanding F.eks that call lightning though impressive, is useless on a blue dragon. Not quite sure what the relevance is, but it is a good point for any campaign really. 6.Your reasons: Totally agree, would love to fanboy along on C1. However as stated in Spoilers, AAOG having already started the animated series, it just isn't a viable option, in my opinion. However AAOG did mention doing Vox machina content along side C2, so this gives AAOG the chance to look into the origins comics and stories for Vow machinas pre stream history, before starting the stream, something us vets were unable to do. Also in defense of C2 chaotic nature, just gotta remind again that the party started from scratch as a bunch of nobodies, with no reputation what so ever. C1 Started midway through, with Vox machina already well connected adventurers. Besides lets be honest the first arc of C1 was so chaotic and unimportant, they skipped right over it in Legends. /.Conclusion:(Man this really feels like an attack, this is NOT my intention) Solid points to offer for C1, though i recommended C2 for the precise reason that it has minimal connection to C1, there are points of overlap that will be affected. Besides if it weren't for the close connections to C1, i would have suggested C3. Simply because then AAOG could have the experience of following along with a running campaign instead of playing catchup all the time.

If it's not too late I would like to propose my counter argument for why you should start with campaign one. (I would have posted this earlier but I thought I would have more time.) (no hate to the people who want campaign two I just really want to see campaign one.) 1. Spoilers?: If it's the source material then is it really a spoiler? If anything I could argue the show is spoiling you on the stream. Plus Matt and co intentionally wanted to make the experience different so that people who already know the story get something new. For example the character archey was a very minor character in the stream so they gave him a lot more presence and personality. 2. Lore: there is a lot of lore that is covered in campaign one that it assumed knowledge in campaign two. While you will probably be able to follow along with the events you won’t be getting the full experience it offers. Some of it might be covered in the show but there is no guarantee and it definitely won’t be as comprehensive. Cities, Gods, factions, artifacts, characters, worldbuilding, etc. . Plus there is some lore they outright can’t include for copyright reasons. 3. Continuity: I would say watching campaign two first is like watching dragon ball z before dragon ball, you can do it and mostly understand but it won’t give you the full experience. You don’t get that shock of finding out he is an alien. Or like starting Boruto without seeing Naruto. Sure it's a different story but you don't know what it took to get to this point. I can think of at least one big reveal that might pass over your head, assuming the show doesn't catch up but even then it won't have nearly the same build up. 4. Catharsis: In the first campaign they are pretty green to the system and as a result you get to see them acclimate to it and feel cathartic as they climb the system. While they are getting accustomed to their new skins in campaign two it isn’t nearly as stark or satisfying. Plus you get to see the crew experiment with stuff that they take for granted in campaign two. 5. Context: There are lots of story moments in campaign one that can only be fully understood in the context of the game. I can’t give away specifics but there are a number of moments in the first campaign that rely on the mechanics of the game to work from a storytelling perspective. 6. Personal reasons: this is just gonna be me fanboying over the first campaign. I like campaign two but I just don’t think it's as good as campaign one. The story is less cohesive and is a bit all over the place. It is still good and you definitely should watch it but I just think it isn’t as good of an experience. If I had to describe the differences between the two I would say the first is a really good subversion of a fantasy epic while the second is a really good indie film. It's still good and is oozing with as much character and atmosphere but it lacks that focused element that makes epics so alluring. (Then again if you prefer indie films then by all means.) Alright I got that out of the way. I will be good no matter what happens because critical role is awesome.

When Pike returned on stream it was just as epic. Pike class is a cleric which are great against undead. Campaign 2 is good place to start, it is different from campaign 1 in many ways. New characters and new continent, same world. Out of Character they do make subtle references to campaign 1. Also their characters in campaign 2 are basically the opposite of Vox Machina. Youtube already lists the second group name as 'The Mighty Nein' which is a reference made in game. It is also a slower burn as you get to see them from level 2 the beginning. But good choice. Vox Machina is getting a season 2 and hopefully more to cover the full campaign. It will be fun rewatching 2 with y'all.
