Episode 278 is probably my favorite singular episode of one piece. It is its own self contained story with a very emotional payoff. Aside from that I suspect it is the moment that luffy went from just another character to one of my favorite characters. I went from thinking it would be nice for him to become king of the pirates to being genuinely invested in seeing this little rubber boys journey to become king. (I know he is a fictional character but still)

Oda is such a genius that no matter how amazing of an arc he writes, he will still always be able to top himself with an even better one later on.
