Gohan finally letting go and tapping into his power and being in full control of it is one of the greatest moments, and if you ask me honestly has been a build up ever since we first saw a glimpse of it against Raditz. I’d highly recommend watching Gohan’s transformation moment with the amazing music that goes with it that has been removed in the end/ beginning of episode 184/185 some time. It brings the transformation to another level! I love it in all versions honestly. Both Japanese and English. The Falcouner “Gohan’s anger theme” is honestly amazing. It’s a shame you first saw it without any music. The music still brings me goosebumps to this day. Also, the teary eyes after Gohan’s been awakened? Oof. So powerful. They hold so many emotions to me. And you’re right, Gohan isn’t a fighter like Goku. Goku loves himself a good fight. Gohan? He only fights to protect others. When he has to. It has always been that way. He always jumped in because he saw others hurting. Not because he enjoys himself a good fight. He’s there when they’re backed into a corner and he has no other choice. And to have this transformation set up by Android 16 connecting with Gohan there and then Cell ruthlessly killing him, making it even better. That was Cell’s worst mistake right there; underestimating what a gentle soul, a child can do. I love that they never went the route of Gohan wanting to fight here, but only doing so to protect in the end. It makes it so much more genuine.
