I feel like Krillin came with the rest of the z fighters because he's Goku's best friend. He's also a hero at heart even though he's just a normal human, and he always jumps into the fray even when he has doubts. This time he was just truly feeling like things were getting out of his league, and Goku suggested that he should leave because he felt the same way. He's basically a ride or die friend who's trying not to die at the same time lol. If any danger comes and he feels that he can be of use at all he'll be there. Honestly he even shows up when he feels too weak just in case he can help at all.
