I hate how out of character Goku is towards Goten and Trunks. My Korean-American friend recently said something to the effect of "There's nothing more Asian than a parent scolding a crying child," but Goku just doesn't feel like the type to be so ridiculous with this macho bullshit. "There will be no more tears! You need to be TOUGH!" It infuriated me as a teenager, and I still don't like it now. If anything, it feels short-sighted. It was an opportunity to be inspiring, to work OFF their grief rather than trying to force them to bury it. Like, how about this? "I know...! It hurts, it's awful! So USE IT! As Saiyans, you can channel that pain into FURY! Make them pay for every drop! But by themselves, tears change nothing... Alright?" Like, the goal is to motivate them, so why not make their feelings work for you? I know you guys don't bring this up, but it always bothered me. Feelings are not a weakness.
