Yeah, Reiner, for me, is one of the best written character in the show. Conflicted between following orders and what he was taught versus what he has actually seen and done, the duality within him feels very much like what someone would feel in his position. Especially since, when Bertholdt and Reiner broke down Wall Maria, they were 12. There's no way you can do something that horrible and not be torn up by it at this age.

2023-02-04 19:18:22 +0000 UTCI don't see why people need to mention the dub every reaction, it's not like they're gonna switch to dub because some scenes got good voice acting. The only valid reason to watch a show dubbed is if you physically can't read the subtitles fast enough, which could make you miss important dialogue and details. This is of course not a problem for this channel, because Carter and Cannon are both quick readers and perceptive viewers.

I've watched the show all the way through probably 3 times now, and I still find new things in the dialogue of this episode that I didn't notice before or have a deeper appreciation for.

It also depends on what episodes are being dropped. If the batch of episodes don't end on the middle of cliffhanger or crucial point in the story (eg. 1x19 Bite and then having to wait a week for the next batch).

Cannon always voices what he thinks (see that WHAT when Reiner was talking this episode and how he was confused in ep6 when Reiner confessed being the armored titan and he kept staring at Carter in disbelief). However, Carter processes everything in his mind and doesn't talk unless things blew his mind and can't take it anymore.

2023-02-04 07:31:28 +0000 UTCLike earlier Reiner (in dub) refers to Annie nearly crushing him, whereas in sub he says either “that Titan” or “female Titan.” Since Reiner is an infiltrator he shouldn’t reveal information to anyone, and he’s not supposed to know Annie is the female Titan bc that’s not public information yet. Reiner, pretending to be a soldier while having had no information about Annie’s capture, or even that she was the Titan (though of course he knew), means that he shouldn’t refer to the female Titan as Annie in order to keep his secret safe. It’s a subtle detail, but the dub script writer should’ve known better. Also, in S1 Ymir’s name was revealed in dub when it shouldn’t have been. When Annie transforms she should say something along the lines of “I have failed to become a warrior,” but the line is dropped entirely.

2023-02-04 07:22:34 +0000 UTCThe actual voice acting is pretty good, especially Erwin and Levi, but there are unfortunately a couple translation mistakes (imo they’re major errors) that are unfortunate. It’s probably better in general to go sub first for plot accuracy and then dub for enjoyment.
