So seeing things in the opening isn't a complete spoiler because you can never trust that what you see will really happen in that way or even at all.

The super hero aspect should come after the script, they’re doing it backwards to market merch to kids. This film was meant to set up the big bad going forward. Jonathan Majors performance was solid. But it felt like there was 0 stakes in this and as you said all the rules for time travelling and jumping between the multiverse is all over the place, they’ve had at least 5 projects to make it coherent and I’m just as lost as ever on the rules… ***SPOILERS*** The end credit scene.. It’s established the council of Kangs exiled the Conqueror to the quantum realm (thus making him not a threat) Antman & Wasp defeats him (again making him not a threat… what exactly is there motive for moving now??? They said the *Avengers* will destroy everything they’ve built because now they’ve *touched* the multiverse… Okay?? I’m pretty sure Scott and the rest of the team just want to live their lives?

I can see the resemblance and we didn't witness Erwin's dad's death, so there is a possibility he's still alive. And being could a titan could explain his younger age.

I think part of the problem with the Disney franchises right now is that they’re there to make money first, and tell good stories second. So even if the writers mean well and try to make something good out of it, there’s gonna be a time (which inevitably happens with any story) when, story-wise, the franchise should end, and Disney’s never gonna do that as long as people will still go to the theater/stream. It also means they’re more focused on just getting the next set ready and out to the public, than on slowing down and trying to make the next set of movies or shows cohesive and interesting.

While I agree that, so far, the mcu definitely peaked at endgame, I don't fully hate phase 4. It's just not nearly as good as the phenomenon that was endgame, but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt in a "we need to reset" kinda way (except MoM and LaT.... Those were dogwater)

2023-02-18 14:47:26 +0000 UTCim honestly more excited for the DC movies at this point which would’ve sounded insane just a few years ago. at least entries like The Batman (this one movie easily clears every single thing marvel has made since endgame imo) and The Joker show that they’re willing to have flexibility and creativity. Their inability to build a cohesive universe used to be their biggest weakness up against Marvel but now its their biggest strength, where Marvel feels like everything is factory made and the same exact thing every single time.

2023-02-18 14:45:23 +0000 UTCi think the bad reviews are more a result of superhero fatigue (more like exhaustion at this point) which is arguably a worse sign for the MCU than just one movie being bad. as little as 4-5 years ago a middling mcu movie would still have decent reviews and make good money just because everybody still liked what they were doing overall. it was safe and reliable. but this shows that people are getting tired and bored of marvel. personally, as someone who was born in 2000, I grew up on the MCU and literally cried during endgame because it felt like the end of my childhood. but its been complete ass since. its like fan fiction. no direction, no center to the universe. you cant ever replace the OG hulk, iron man, captain america, but they seem stubbornly set on doing so with incredibly lame B list characters. do they seriously think Riri or Falcon are comparable? i dont get it. doctor strange was a side character in his own movie. Black Panther 2 was cool for 2/3 but then the end it turned into “lets give everyone magical iron man suits that makes them look like PS2 graphic lego characters”. spiderman is probably the best MCU character but he’s owned by sony so its like he’s half in half out. eternals was just like… huh? they’re trying to make main theme of the MCU alternate dimensions but every time they do it its under different rules and its not the same from movie to movie. just a complete mess. im not even excited for Daredevil because I know its going to be toned down and he’ll be turned into a CGI quipster. the entire thing is just a mess.
