Ok our 2nd technical difficulty, not sure what happened but Episode 21 upload just completely stopped at 28%. So this is going to get a little disjointed, If you want to wait and watch them in order, so sorry but its going to be a little bit longer! Episode 21 REUPLOAD is on the way.

Comments

Honestly the first part of season 3 is by far inferiors compared to any other part of this show.

Sasha

Erwin is 100% the most overrated character of the series.

BoredVoid

Agree with you 100%!! It bothers me when people say, "Things in S4 would have turned out better if Erwin had been saved instead..." but, really, we have no way to know that. Also, what does "better" even mean? Because I don't see any way to slice the situation that turns out not looking like a tragedy, regardless of the specifics of how/what exactly would happen. I think the writing made it pretty clear too that Erwin would have no "dream" to live for after learning the truth--he even said he didn't know himself--whereas Armin clearly does still have dreams/motivations, and that ends up being quite important later (I won't give specifics here for spoiler reasons). I'm not trying to say Armin was the "right" choice (I don't think there was one), but I completely agree with you that, as amazing as Erwin is (and I love him) he is over-idolized and over-idealized.

Sarah

Floch's perspective is valid for sure but knowing the entire series at this point, I can't say I agree that his view of "Erwin should've been chosen" is completely foolproof. Once they learned all they did, the game changed 180 degrees. None of them had the experience necessary to deal with what was next, not even Erwin would've had all the answers. I feel like this change was a way to reset the playing field, as if the characters are starting from level 1 in a new zone so to speak.

metalgearbear

Also, I'm glad it was said about Armin's bravery sacrificing his life while Floch was on his tirade. People don't see how courageous it was of him to do what he did. He immediately and without hesitation gave up his life to defeat the Colossal Titan. He didn't need Eren to tell him to "give up on his dream and die" like Erwin needed Levi to do. Erwin is an amazing character, but sometimes I feel like he gets venerated way too much, which conveniently ignores his own flaws and shortcomings. And isn't that the beautiful thing about this anime? That all of the characters are flawed, there's no true right or wrong, and everyone's perspective could be viewed as valid? I don't know why, but it irks me when Erwin doesn't get the same lens applied to him that other characters do. But I guess that's at Isayama's feet for writing a great character haha!

metalgearbear

I feel like people put Erwin on too high a pedestal. Armin had just as much courage fighting the Colossal Titan and sacrificing his life when they were pushed into a corner. I don't see why the two situations had to be compared. The Colossal Titan killed all the people on one side of the wall and the Best Titan killed everyone else on the other side. Floch acts like everyone who wasn't hit by rocks didn't do anything and that's just plain not true. And it's not like Armin is useless; all the things Eren mentioned he did to get them where they are were good contributions. That's why the decision on who to inject can be viewed as a grey area. They both had skills, strategy, and potential. I would say though that Erwin was a broken man at the end. His only goal was to find out the truth to validate his father's death. After that he had no idea what to do; he didn't care about the outside world, he didn't care about getting away from things. He had one singular goal. And we all assume he would be the same person after he reached that goal? I think that's a big assumption on our parts. He could've completely changed and become a less effective leader afteward. Which is why what Hange says is so important. What's done is done and we live it with it now. There's no changing it and we keep moving forward.

metalgearbear

I understand why Floch is upset, but he's forgetting ultimately Levi was the one who made the decision. Even after Eren and Mikasa worked to convince him to revive Armin, Levi was still going to choose Erwin. But it was his personal choice that he wanted Erwin to rest there and give him "freedom" (see that there? ;) ) from this hell they were in. I don't know if Floch is just forgetting that or if he's afraid to say it to Levi lol. Either way he clearly was very upset needing an outlet for his anger.

metalgearbear

McKay and Brig, Mikasa wasn't biting her lip at the end there. And what you're suggesting was going on was so far from what it was. She just got meek and then shyly smiled because she was embarrassed she yelped and lost her composure to the water when she's sort of the team's certified badass.

BoredVoid

The soundtrack at the end is so perfect for that scene. It's the same soundtrack that played when Levi made his choice with the serum.

metalgearbear

Plus, I'm sure just about anyone could deduce that S4 would be Marley-heavy.

Ben Crawford

Y'all stop dogging on Brig lmao. If Carter and Cannon didn't like what he was saying, I'm sure they'd tell him to stop.

Ben Crawford

Why everyone hates Floch I love that guy and he gets better and better in the coming season

Doodlez

Thats also the last time where we can see into erens mind/ hear his inner thoughts

Doodlez

I understand that Brig is so excited but bro you don’t have to straight up tell them what is going to happen in the whole season 4 part 1 lol. I remember my first watch on season 4 I was so shocked and confused to see what’s happening on the other island… now they won’t experience that surprise

lydia

Wth you mean he hasn’t spoil anything?? He basically tell them what is going to happen in the whole season 4 part 1 lollll. I’m expecting for their genuinely no nothing reactions

lydia

Live to die another day

lydia

Yeah for real - I'd appreciate if he shut it with pitching into their theories and trying to hype them up too much because he always gives stuff away or gets them thinking on the right path too quick

Verotar

Yeah I get worried everytime he makes comments ahaha

Leslie Narvaez

i always love seeing reactions to this episode. that hand kiss from eren is instrumental to the rest of the show. changes him forever. the things he sees COMPLETELY changes his brain.

Mike Peebles

what are you talking about. The guy literally spoiled the whole plot of the season 4 part 1.

무무 댕

You tell me WHAT HAVE I MISSED

Pate Ardealul

Hitch is indeed the best. I love Hitch

Pate Ardealul

For real. Brig doesn't deserve the hate. Even when he accidentally spoils, it's either something minor or gets paid off in the same episode. Come on guys, these people are just trying to have fun

Pate Ardealul

Season 3 is so good. It covers so much and answers so much more. The rewatchability of this show is astonding as well because you understand so much more the second time around. Like the episode with Ymir's backstory would blow y'all's minds on a second go round.

Wulfheart

middle guy is a major W for recognizing the point of Floch. He said it perfectly, he goes against the grain of the main cast.

Lukeasbot

the only reason comments like this irk me in a way is because LEVI LITERALLY TRIED TO REVIVE ERWIN. erwin shot his hand up right as levi was about to inject him. erwin was the one who decided for himself in that moment. Levi just understood what his commander was unintentionally saying. Erwin has already established that he believes when a soldier asks another person what he should do, that soldier has nothing left to do other than to die. erwin asks levi what he should do right before they all charge the beast titan which is why levi says "give up on your dreams and die"

jordan solomon

the 199 that died werent all recruits. idk why people keep saying that. all of Hange's squad, died. theyre apart of the 199. so many other scouts died when the colossal transformed. floch probably saw around 100 soldiers die in that charge. still tragic, yes, but the scouts lost more than "just recruits" we already know that only the people who are dumb enough to acknowledge that some lives are worth more than others, join the scouts. Levi says that earlier in s3. Floch was also celebrated in that ceremony. he also received a metal of honor.

jordan solomon

let me correct myself, the localization issue probably is the reason for it, i just believe it wasn't the ONLY reason for how the title is formatted.

jordan solomon

i dont think thats the reason. ever since finding everything out in this story, i personally believe the title "Attack on Titan" is a play on words. We start the series and see the scouts attacking the titans and automatically think the title of the show is odd because of the word "on". we all think "why are we sympathizing with the titans? theyre the ones attacking us!". We learn in s3 that the titans all along have been humans and that the world looks at the people who posses the ability to become titans as evil. Therefore, "Attack on Titan" refers to the fact that eldian's are turned into titans as a punishment, hence the "on" in the title. The world is attacking the race that turns into titans...Attack on Titan.

jordan solomon

first off, LOVE the season 3 reactions. S3 is probably my favorite season so i'm happy everyone has watched it now lol. Cant wait for s4! second off, to everyone dogging on brig for TALKING, you guys can either not say anything at all or be nice. Not a single one of the three who have seen aot already have spoiled anything thus far. they ALL collectively say their thoughts and feelings. sometimes during the episode, sometimes after the episode. these guys are already in s4 even though we haven't seen the reactions yet so no one has spoiled anything. either educate yourselves or shut it, please and thank you. You guys keep up the amazing work JUST as you are now. True fans of aot and you guys wont think anything is being spoiled, were just happy you guys are liking the show so far!

jordan solomon

he hasn't spoiled anything. he gets them thinking. also. keep in mind that at the time this was uploaded, theyve already seen up to at LEAST s4 episode 7 so once again, no spoils at all.

jordan solomon

Whoever buddy is on the far right is needs to please talk less during season 4. Being so serious, you can’t preemptively give away all the bits that make the season so tense.

Derrick

It is genius how the mysteries of this series have been pieced together by the end of this season. My favorite thing about this show is that every episode you watch changes your perspective on everything you have seen up until that point. And that remains true up until the last moment of the series. Truly a masterpiece that has seemingly an infinite amount of nuance and depth. So much thought and genius poured into this work of art by Isayama ❤️

Jag_227

Right. Floch represents the average soldier. All those sacrificed soldiers that we never knew their names. He's like, "We all willingly signed up to be sacrificed for the future of our people. But, in the end, you (Eren. Mikasa, Levi) abandoned the choice that was best for humanity (saving Erwin) just so you could bring back your friend." He feels like all the sacrifices were betrayed by that choice. That's an important theme later in the show as well. Of course, this is only true of Floch and other's perspective that Armin was not the right person to bring back.

Jag_227

BURNING, BURNING

Jag_227

Bro on the right stay spoiling and distracting the guys watching for the first time lol

MikeAngels99

Wow, I just noticed It's crazy that the picture of the sea in Armin's book is from atop the wall Marleyeans make people into Titans. That was the image of their dream of the freedom of the outside world. But, the reality of that place was a lot darker than their childish wishes.

Jag_227

@t. law ? i didn’t spoil anything. i also specifically said “once you’re caught up with the show”.

nomorepartiezz

Rip bozo

Alex Michael Christensen

I can't say I disagree with Floch's points. He made some compelling arguments. Though it took a while for me to accept that he was right. I was quick to dismiss him because he went after the main crew of characters we've invested so time and emotions into. Looking back now, it was a good decision for the author to put in someone like Floch in the story so that we can see the events unfold from a different perspective, whether or not we agree or disagree with his points. Hate him or love him, he does have an interesting arc. Remember how depressing it was for Cannon and Carter to see Eren feel depressed early in season 3, around episodes 7-9. Well, we've seen some if it here, so get ready for more of that in season 4.

Jeffrey

sheesh, ive never seen that video before but damn. that shit gave me chills and tbh i wish they did show what he experienced.

Brayden

This has been an absolute journey can't wait for s4

Toff

Keep in mind that season 4 starts off 4 YEARS later from this ending scene. So excited to watch this again with yall :) Part 2 of season four is my hands down favorite in the entire story. For me, it echos in line with the battle of shiganshina!

Sweetcheeks

David Herrera

I saw! But I'm a first time viewer so I'm waiting for the uncut 😊

Mia Malvik

its up on youtube

nomorepartiezz

Ah yes. Floch. The character that divided an entire fandom. Lol. 😂✌️But honestly, I don't hate FlochBut I don't like him either. To me, he's just in between. I think he's a necessary character for us to see a different perspective because we always hear our main ones' thoughts and opinions. He raises really valid points, but he's a jerk about it and sometimes goes overboard. That's how I see him. He's a very interesting character to say the least.

Hannahbelle

Oh and I'm really excited for TLOU whenever that comes out 🥺

Mia Malvik

Love it when people see that Floch kinda has a point in this scene, although he could've phrased it better. He's a really interesting character despite what happens in S4, and I like the type of person who stands up for what they believe in, even if those beliefs don't align with my own. ANYWAY it's entirely insane that you're done with season 3 😭

Mia Malvik

Delete your comment, they haven't watched that episode yet!!.

T. Law

Erwin had to go. Erwin can win an impossible situation. He achieved so much with so little. At end of season 3 with all that information, Colossal Titan and Attack Titan. Erwin's tactics and strategy would make him so op to deal with. It is almost unfair for Marley.

Gnani

I agree with Carter. I also didn’t like the direction the story was going, when Rod Reiss was explaining the history and Titan powers. I could relate to his disappointment. I’m so glad the payoff was worth it.

rosa_gris

Loved ur take bro. True that

humbleandkindness

Also I'm not sure if it was an unfortunate localization issue but "Shingeki no Kyojin" translates as you now know from these episodes to "Attack Titan" but the show in english is called "Attack on Titan" which I'm assuming stems from them thinking that "Attack Titan" as the title sounded off, and thought they were localizing better by changing it. Instead it very much should have always been called "Attack Titan" because you initially would think it's like "verb noun" suggesting committing an attack on a titan, but in this big reveal it's actually "adjective noun" as we learn the Attack Titan is actually a name of huge importance. The titan that in any age seeks freedom, which is the one thing we've always heard Eren be more passionate about than anything else.

Nick K

Now you need to get another cousin to drag into your operation so Cannon and Carter can do a rewatch of the show for themselves while they get blown away by all the little details in the early episodes

Nick K

they could upload it unlisted and give the links out to patreon users

Floch's roast game on point this episode.

the beach scene gives me chills. the tension, the music, its such a beautifully cathartic moment and emotional release that they finally get there. but its also just so haunting and sad. especially knowing season 4. just… wow. easily in my top 3 favorite shows of all time. unbelievable.

off topic but once you guys are caught up with the show theres a lot of videos or random content on youtube you could watch to fill in the gap until the final final part. for example theres a couple of edits that try to demonstrate the full extent of what Eren experienced when he kissed Historia’s hand, and how insane it is and why it was such a turning point for his character.

VincebGamin

I mentioned this in another comment but I love Floch’s speech in this episode. Of course we think he’s being an asshole because we’ve followed and liked the main characters but imagine being in his position. Seeing 199 recruits get crushed to death for basically no reason. Knowing you’re viewed as worthless cannon fodder to throw into the meat grinder just so the main characters can do what they have to. Think of how many scouts have been slaughtered throughout the show all for Eren. Of course its not Erens fault but again just put yourself in Floch’s shoes. And then seeing them all cry and be sad and choose Armin over the strategic genius and GOATED leader Erwin. And then seeing them get celebrated and treated as heroes while you were the only one who saw the absolute horrors of what everyone else had to go through for them to get those medals. I would definitely be pissed and cynical too. Unfortunately Floch goes off the deep end in Season 4 which I know you guys have already seen, but his experiences in this part of the show set that up beautifully. Due to him surviving the suicide charge he looks up to Erwin for having the balls to become a devil and do what’s necessary to save his people even at such an insane cost. which is why he ends up supporting Eren and his idea of how to save Paradis in S4.

nomorepartiezz

All I ever wanted to do was do right things

you guys need to mod that because someone who read the manga will 100% spoil s4 part 3 for you guys

We are on 4x18!

Studio Geck

Bro😂 yall are cracking me up today this had me rolling

Studio Geck

HAHA seriously this is something I would blame him for 😂

Studio Geck

HAHAHA

Studio Geck

Yes, I think it is just that they have such different personalities that they express themselves in different ways - Floch has more of a brash personality and he kind of takes out his frustration on Armin. Armin is a very emphathetic person, and he himself is reeling under the weight of the decision, not sure of himself. I think it is interesting that Floch points out the apparent conflict of interest that Eren, Mikasa, Jean, Sasha, and Connie had in the matter as Armin is their friend (well Sasha was concussed so I guess she is excused :) ). I am not expecting Armin to be Erwin, after all Erwin was one of a kind! And it is not useful to question who should be alive now that the decision has been made, but I will give Floch a pass here. He clearly felt being in the minority whose opinion was not chosen, and chose to voice it (albeit in a harsh way). I think it is necessary to highlight his view as an 'outsider' to our 104th cadet group. Others who join the scouts may come to the conclusion that the scouts is a partial organization and there is nepotism when it comes to important decisions (which is not true, of course, but the outcomes indicate that if you are Eren's friend, you may even bypass the commander!). Anyway, I really liked his rant here, I felt sorry for him especially given his survivor's guilt when he was the one most hesitant to charge with Erwin, but when he finally does make his resolve to die, in a cruel twist of fate, he survives.

Shiro

bro, whos down to join a discord server for Studio Gek. We can watch episodes on there and play games. Add me if you're interested in joining me | ShemmieLulu#9703

ShemmieLulu

I understand his frustration too, and I think it’s definitely a realistic reaction and a good moment in the show. I just don’t think it’s as admirable as others do, which is what I wanted to point out. I think his character has a really interesting moral downfall, and it’s heart-wrenching to watch this eager kid collect trauma and become more and more hardened to the people around him. But Armin’s fifteen too, and people often blame him for not taking as much initiative as they imagine Erwin would’ve, without considering the way Floch really beats him into the ground in this scene. Armin approaches him empathetically, and Floch responds by rubbing it in his face that just about everyone in that room thinks he should be dead. Not only that, he insults every single one of them based on a decision most of them had little say in. Again, I empathize with Floch, but that’s different than approving of his actions, particularly when (at least where they’re at) he doesn’t show any signs of growing out of that behavior.

Julia Perez

try clearing your browser cache and reuploading it or try another browser

PST3

Actually, even I was like this - after the climax of season 2, with the revelation of the coordinate powers, etc. I was hoping they would immediately chase Reiner and company. But in hindsight, season 3 part 1 makes sense! AoT has a pattern of action followed by calm, then more build up, action and calm. The beginning of S3 really throws people off as to what are they doing, but I think as we delve into the mysteries, I was intrigued.

Shiro

go to sleep bro by the time you wake up youll probably get to see them start season 4 too lol

nomorepartiezz

me waiting for episode 21 and not sleeping even tho it's 6am

M7snitor

I just realized they’re finally gonna know what your name means

farkzzy

Almost there...I hope they are enjoying the journey...we will see for sure

Shiro

its understandably kind of boring compared to what came before and especially after. but it did a lot of the heavy lifting to set the pieces in place for the titanic basement reveal

nomorepartiezz

Yes, but Hange is a veteran and a commander of the scouts now, of course her response will be measured. Floch, on the other hand, is a teenager who has just witnessed hell. I think a lot of people don't discuss his survivor's guilt, which he alludes to in episode 18, when he says that the reason he must've been allowed to live is to bring the 'devil' (Erwin) back to life. And Levi, by choosing Armin, denies him the meaning of his survival. He brought Erwin, but it turned futile in the end as Armin was the one selected! I understand that he is wrong to lay it out on Armin, but I can understand his frustration. In fact, he is the voice of all the other military leaders when he says that everyone who read the report wondered why wasn't Erwin saved? If I was in his place, even I would wonder why was someone's friend saved when you had the choice to save the commander. As much as I love Armin, he is a relatively unknown soldier who just joined the scouts.

Shiro

its always episode 21 bro i swear, remember season 1?

Nextrackter

the beginning of the season set up sooooo much for the amazing payoff at the end of the season

nans

they are on s4 ep 17 and will continue on Sunday!

nans

You are the goat

McKay Carter

I understand his perspective, but his reaction is still shitty imo. There’s no reason to make Armin feel like crap for being alive when it wasn’t even his decision. It doesn’t help anyone, and it just makes the situation worse. Hange’s response was way better: “I disagree, but none of us should’ve been put in that position. This is where we are now, and we all have to live with it.”

Julia Perez

How far along are you guys in your watching? Which episode?

Shiro

they finished, or maybe are on 4x17 (can’t remember which) a day or two ago but said they couldn’t watch anymore until sunday. should be an incredible night for them lol…

nomorepartiezz

I actually love him in this scene. hes the only character to call out the main characters on their plot armor and make them confront the fact that thousands of people have died for them. but in season 4 he becomes a raging fascist psychopath. still a great character but i cant agree with him anymore lol

nomorepartiezz

I don't like him in any season but I get him lol

Pocketsleuth

Nah I think he's asking if the end of s3 is all that's being uploaded this weekend

They said they were on 4x16 a few days ago.

Takuro za siromašne

My heart fully dropped, man. Would hate to not see the reaction for one of my favorite episodes... "If you want to save Mikasa, Armin, and everyone else" get's me every time.

ZYGGY

I like that at least one of you didn't write off Floch, every character's perspective is important, he's a character that wasn't invested on saving his "friend" like Eren was, or wanting to give Erwin rest like Levi was, he was more saying who was best for survival. Also Brig maybe shouldn't allude to what's to come so much and let them experience as it happens 😅

Pocketsleuth

Uploading is so much fun, ain’t it?

I saw episode 21 and technical difficulty in my notification and my heart stopped thinking the footage got corrupted... phew... thank goodness
