Oh I am soooo hyped for you guys to watch this. I read the entirety of part one of the manga in 2021 (manga was on hiatus for about two years and then started up again with the announcement of the anime in July 2022) and is currently ongoing. The first 97 chapters (part 1) are absolutely unreal, and part 2 has been really good so far! Season one was really good but the REALLY juicy stuff is gonna come in season 2 cuz the end of part 1 of the manga was some of the coolest stuff I’ve ever seen.

I'd just like to say I've had a very similar experience with how I got into anime, so Idk if you're planning on branching into slice of life or anything (there's plenty more Shonen to watch for sure), but if you are, ToRaDoRa was a really genuine one for me, as someone who was afraid to get into that side of anime because I thought it'd be all weird but that show was super wholesome and genuine

I watched the opening every week and did not get spoiled at all. It's all such brief scenes that it doesn't click for you unless you're actively looking to analyze everything. Only after you see those things then when it pops up in the opening it's like "oh yeah"

Manga started its run in 2018 I believe. It is currently separated into two parts with part 2 releasing weekly rn. With Chainsaw Man I just ask you guys to keep an open mind. It has some tropey things you might not like about anime(Especially at first with Denji's attitude), but as it goes on the characters truly become some of the best written I've seen. You may also find it funny so who knows.

There's leaks about both a movie and a season 2, tho they're not officially confirmed yet. The manga's been out for about 3.5yrs now, and season 1 covers most of the first 38 chapters out of now 134, and as good as it really is it's the 'worst' part of the series imo. Fujimoto is a genius, and the later arcs really show it. Also, you should watch the endings and I'm very curious to see what you think of the intro (after the season) as ik you guys are big on films and stuff, and it's full of references to classics

First season is basically a setup where real chainsaw man starts where first season ends. If you read the Manga you know how good the later parts of csm were compared to early parts. Later parts made the series explode in popularity that sadly didn't get adapted into season 1. There is a rumor for a movie and season 2 but it won't be out for a while. Probably it will release at end of next year if we have to take a guess.
