Now I'm picturing gojo seeing him all depressed and sulking in the shower and just running in blaring the song on his phone

I don't think she made it so he could use CE? She def taught him how to use it to exorcise curses and such but she didn't take him from a normal human to a sorcerer. He didn't come from a family of sorcerers but neither did geto and he became a special grade. Nanami is the only sorcerer in his family, so is Miwa, Haibara came from a non sorcerer family and his little sister could see curses (he forbid her from joining jjh), not sure if he had a sorcerer family history but mechamarus user was taken in by jjh as a child so we don't know if his family were sorcerers or not. The only person we've seen be able to turn a normal person into a sorcerer was when mahito tweaked junpeis soul. I'm not sure if he was someone who could perceive curses beforehand, or if seeing his bullies get murdered let him see mahito (I think first episode they say that in extreme life or death situations ppl could possibly see curses) but junpei wouldn't have been able to use CE if mahito hadn't done that.

You're gonna be embarrassed when you find out what's really going on in the present lol

There should've been more clips leading to Geto's "demise," for viewers to understand him better. However, if you look at it this way, Geto and Gojo were always seen as "the strongest duo" (even said by MAPPA and Gege's illustration art) before Gojo's awakening, which propelled him to be the strongest sorcerer in the present-day. Geto now seeing he's no longer needed to accompany Gojo on missions, becomes isolated. I think anyone would go even a little insane if they saw how suddenly someone they used to be levelled with become successful and excel on their own. He couldn't go to Shoko as she already had value and wasn't really ever sent on missions due to this. So, in a sense, he became an outcast in this regard. He alongside Gojo, witnessed the ugliness that came from Riko's (an innocent girl) death. He was left with that trauma as he witnessed her die in front of him and believed Toji had killed his best friend (a special-grade sorcerer). Toji, a person with no CE, was superhuman. Humans are what sorcerers protect. And ironically enough, cursed spirits are born from human's negative emotions/energy. So Geto sees a human kill a sorcerer and a young girl, basically, everything he believed in at that point was now being dismantled in front of him. Haibara's death and his talk with Yuki were the final straws for Geto to finally believe in a new ideology. He wanted to create a world where no cursed spirits existed, and to do that, he had to kill the source which is human emotions--created by humans. When Geto saw Gojo again for the first time, it was in a room full of people that were clapping for a young girl's death, and his best friend who he thought was dead, was alive but clearly was a changed person. Gojo always used Geto as his moral compass. During that scene, Gojo asked Geto if he wanted to kill everyone in that room because he wouldn't feel a thing. He was seeking Geto's answer as Gojo trusted in Geto's judgement. Geto ultimately chose "no" as it wasn't right. In a way, Geto saved Gojo from becoming the villain but was left with unanswered questions and confusion if he had chosen the right answer. If you look at it this way, Gojo and Geto were trying to do the same thing but in drastically different ways/approaches. Gojo wishes to create a generation of sorcerers that are strong enough to go against the corruption in jujutsu society to preserve the youths of the young (Riko's death had this impact on him). And Geto wants to eliminate the cause of jujutsu sorcerer deaths (cursed spirits which are born from HUMAN'S negative emotions). Geto refers to people without CE as "monkeys." Toji referred to himself as "monkey." In a sense, Toji was the reason or start of Geto's changed ideology/perception of humans. In the movie, Geto states before death, that he didn't wish to kill ANY sorcerers--he could never do that. In a sense, Geto was trying to eliminate the cause of his comrades' deaths. MAPPA did very well in highlighting how exhausting and repetitive Geto's CT is. He absorbs cursed spirits (negative emotions) in order to exorcise them. It's a shame that no one saw Geto's suffering. But then again, jujutsu society is corrupt, so why would they even offer help? They send out young sorcerers to kill cursed spirits for the safety of humanity--knowing that these teens can die. Also, Geto saved those two village girls and I think Geto seeing how badly sorcerers are treated by humans in the real world, was a catalyst to his change in paths. He does end up taking them in though, and they're basically his adopted daughters :)

NESSA

I understand what you are saying about Geto’s power, but why not just stop being a sorcerer? Surely he can ignore the regular humans and live as a non-sorcerer in which he doesn’t have to clean up/eat people’s curses. In fact, in his present actions, he is actively working with curses, like Mahito. I am interested in his character and the story, and of course I am down for a character who turns to the dark side. But I always find any character hating people in general silly. I’m sure there are people who are grateful for what the sorcerers do, just like the baker girl whom Nanami helps in season 1. He is clearly lost and needs a reset in perspective on life in general…

Shiro

Have to look at Geto's perspective to understand how he reached his conclusions. The guy literally has to eat other normal humans' shit when he is absorbing the curses that are literally created by their incompetence and obliviousness, which in turn costs his own friends lives, and for what? It will never stop, so is that the life he is supposed to be looking forward to for the rest of his life. I also think what pushed him over the edge was that scene with the regular humans wanting to kill those two children. He was probably thinking to himself that children like those two will become sorcerers that will have to end up cleaning up more of the regular humans shit like he has to by eating and killing the curses those same humans created. And to top it off, those humans dont even see those children as people, because how low can you stoop to want to mercilessly kill children. He probably saw himself in those kids, and through their eyes saw how ungrateful the regular humans are to the very people that protect them from the shit they themselves are responsible for. I completely understand how Geto must feel. The only thing that I think was handled badly as far as his character consistency is concerned, is how he immediately switched from a reasonable person, to an utterly evil psychopath. This is what I think makes him less convincing and less compelling because you just dont become crazy like that in such a short time. I wish they showed us more of his daily conflict and introspection, just to make him more believable.

It doesn't let you go forward or back 5 seconds with arrow keys and lags too much for me.

ah omg i am literally not ready for shibuya 😭

weekends. I swear vinland fans have been the most impatient ones on here. We even got 4 episodes last weekend and ya'll still complain lol

kiiturii

bruh why does the UI matter lol, you press one button to go full screen and that's it

kiiturii

I truly feel so bad for that wait yall had for aot season 2 lol thats insane

Studio Geck

Geto's choice reminds me of Slovenian philosopher Zizek's new article "Barbie can't handle the truth" published on 7/22. Here is the last part of the article: “If someone were to ask a witness about the truth of the Holocaust, and the witness were to reply, “You can’t handle the truth!”, this should not be understood as a simple claim that most of us are not able the process the horror of holocaust. At a deeper level, those who were not able to handle the truth were the Nazi perpetrators themselves: they were unable to accept the fact that their society was traversed by the economic and social crises of the 1930s, and to avoid this troubling insight they engaged in a mass murder spree that targeted Jews – as if killing Jews would somehow miraculously re-establish a harmonious social body. And therein resides the final lesson of the stories about venturing from fantasy into reality: we do not only escape into a fantasy to avoid confronting reality, we also escape into reality to avoid the devastating truth about the futility of our fantasies. ” Deep down, Geto knows his vision is unattainable. He was once an idealist, but it was only wishful thinking on his part that the strong gained meaning and gratitude from protecting the weak. Unable to deal with his disappointment, he runs away from it all by going down the wrong path. In the JJK movie, during the fight against Yuta, Yuta truly believes in his love for Rika, but Geto doesn't really believe in his greater good as much as he says he does.

Unika Ang

that clapping scene may not seem like "nothing" but you have to try and put yourself in geto's shoes, these people were clapping for an innocent girl's death.. she didn't even get to enjoy life to the fullest all because of their own selfish reasons, the people that he's always been told he needs to protect, that alone is heavy to deal with. Him and his colleagues are risking their lives everyday for them, he was being sent on dangerous missions alone not being able to see shoko and gojo much, in this episode he watched someone he's close to die (haibara) for these people, he's watching them discriminate people like him (nanako + mimiko). That clapping scene was essentially the rude awakening for him about being a sorcerer and what he and everyone he knows is doing this for... in his eyes these people who don't really care for them even though they're the reason why curses aren't running mayhem. It's sad that he went down that path but it was just that cruel of a situation, we even saw at one point gojo could've ended up the same way if geto had agreed to kill the star religious group that day, i personally think the episode did a good job to show how fast you can spiral mentally regardless of the one year time skip

sam

Ok it's just lagging on drop box I can't watch it properly

Tadeo Solís

Streamable is definitely better for me, Dropbox gave me a hard time. Also I'm sooooo freaking excited for shibuya arc 😭😭

CheyenneInWonderland

Geto's trying to protect his people, but he's also trying to save the most people. If he manages to achieve his goal, that's essentially no-one who ever dies or gets harmed by a cursed spirit, but if he were to try and protect everyone, cursed spirits would still be around forever and so effectively infinite people will get killed by them. Do you save x amount of people, while allowing technically infinite future people to die, or do you kill billions of people in order to save infinite future people (and importantly, your people)? Like Yuki said, JJH is treating the symptoms, but Geto's trying to bring about the cure. Think of it like chemo.

Huxley Bennett

or 10 years for no game no life season 2. oh wait

Hechy

yeah dropbox is actually terrible. i really hope they stay on the old one

Hechy

Nah, to me Eren's about protecting his people, numbers be damned, whereas Geto's playing an extreme numbers game - albeit maybe to justify protecting his people

dropbox is terrible down yall need to get with streamable

I feel like he was too much on his own during the year after, alone with his thoughts, they could’ve just send Shoko with him, I feel like he could've talked about it w Gojo if they hadn't been so busy. Cus like, you can see Gojo having the exact same thought process when the people were clapping at Riko's death. I don't think he is immature, he just saw the worst of humanity, in the worst of people and the best of humanity die in the best of people (Riko and Maid) that drove him to take his decision, had Gojo been there w him, the outcome would have been different. Just like how he grounded Gojo w the Start Religion Group.

༒ dianna ༒

I thought I was tripping for hearing the water running in that shower and the rain as clapping, but they did that on purpose, so that we'd hear what Geto was. When Carter pointed it out during the shower I was like YES thank you I'm not crazy.

༒ dianna ༒

Streamable is definitely better on pc

Bro really copy pasting the same thing to multiple creators lol I like it

The dropbox UI is so bad, i prefer streamable way more.

Daco

Cannon is right, it was ironically Geto's power that was his own downfall. My take is that he is very young (in his late teens) when he has to witness such ugliness of the world. He was very idealistic as a student and his brush with the world has left him jaded. He is not mature enough to come to terms with how life is and goes to the dark side. His dream is foolish, he is looking for utopia which will never happen (no curses). I wish he would seek help from someone, such as a mature sorcerer to come to terms with his predicament (Yuji has similar conversation with Nanami after Junpei's death). On another note, I wonder where and how did he find Mahito, Jogo and Hanami, and as someone pointed out, what if he absorbs them? Can he even absorb multiple special grade sentient curses? What if he absorbs Sukuna? Will that help him realize his utopia considering Sukuna is also a psychopath with no regard to human life?

Shiro

This is really cool! Thanks for sharing this, please do so more in the future as well, I think it really elevates the experience of the story :)

Shiro

Well they stated that gojo was super busy with his mission/ now that he was the strongest and shoko was always left at jujitsu high because she was to valuable with her reverse cursed technique to risk putting into the field, leaving geto to do pretty much all his work as a sorcerer by himself. He was isolated for a long period of time where his mental was the weakest when he needed someone to lean on the most and considering all the trauma he got from the Toji Riko incident and the star religious group he started to spiral. His convo with Yuki and Haibaras death seemed to be the nail in the coffin. I do agree however that I would’ve liked more than just one episode to focus on his mental I still think his conviction makes sense from a character perspective.

M2GZ

i know that we already know geto becomes a villain but i was hoping his development to that stage would be a bit more fleshed out, and how it all played out was so odd within that one year skip, like i get that clapping scene was horrifying but thats ALL he thought about for a year and nothing else? He also wasnt able to reach out to gojo or shoko at all either?

ChrisBrah-4

i buffer alot more on dropbox than streamable

VoN

Then you are not paying attention my friend

M2GZ

You know there anime noobs when they complain about a 3 week break this is nothing compared to the pain of waiting 4 years for 12 eps of AOT.

M2GZ

For watching on an IPad the Dropbox was much better. There are no functions on Streamable on an IPad like quality change etc. Here all functions were available.

Linn

Streamable player functions so much better

Eric

"this mid show" for a second i believed it too. Absolutely cannot believe how they just turned geto into a villain like that with so many inconsistencies in that regard. I am MAD

ChrisBrah-4

((I will wake up in the middle of my hibernation to wish Cannon a happy birthday))

Mia Malvik

Streamable player has more functionality. The dropbox player doesnt react to the usual keyboard shortcuts like double clicking the screen to enter/exit fullscreen, it doesnt let you use the keyboard arrows L/R to move playback backward/forward, its control and search bar display also covers the subtitles whenever you use any command or touch the screen. I prefer the streamable one for sure.

Mysterious Figure

I generally like watching anime over reading manga because the full experience with music, voice acting and animation is so sick, but I think people brush over the fact that manga has it's own insane vibe that is easily on par with anime. I just picked up jjk and have almost finished the series and it's the best decision I've done tbh, the shock value of reading is just as crazy as watching it (I was actually pacing the living room while reading shibuya and ugly crying) and a lot of this arc I preferred the way it was in the manga. It's definitely just a preference thing tho. I'm going into hibernation until August 31st so see ya then🫡

Mia Malvik

the previews are usually just for the next ep in general so they might be teasing us the first ep of the new arc which comes out in a month

Studze Kisiel

Also the ending is just one big forshadowing of geto's spiralling as we get multiple scenes of geto being the only one in the shadow and even the scenes with fish (one with shredded fins and a normal one) symbolises gojo and geto's state of mind (geto ofc being the unhealthy one)

Studze Kisiel

After this EP I can explain the meaning behind the titles as I think it's really cool. 懐玉 / Hidden Inventory / “harboring jade" - 玉折 / Premature Death / "broken jade" the 懐玉・玉折 / “Hidden Inventory, Premature Death” titles and how they relate to Gojo and Geto they both stem from idioms: 懐玉→被褐懐玉 / jewel hidden in poor clothes 玉折→蘭摧玉折 / destroyed orchid, shattered jewel jewel refers to a ball of jade—often used throughout history to represent great talent, beauty, excellence - Gojo and Geto were basically pinnacles of excellence within the jujutsu world, etc etc Taken to their full meaning from the four word idioms they come from, the half that is more centered around Gojo. The first of these four word idioms literally means, "harbouring jade in hemp cloth." It means bluntly put in my eloquent wording: "A shitty exterior hides extreme talent," the talent = "jade." Clearly referring to Gojo - the guy with the shitty exterior personality that hides both physically an overwhelming amount of talent, but also, as we reach the tail-end of Hidden Inventory, on a moral level, a guy who has a rather noble, selfless dream. The other half means something along the lines of "reaching beyond your means invites disaster." This is Geto snapping. He's the "jade" that "breaks." Lastly, "reaching beyond your means invites disaster" = both Riko and Toji. Riko wishes to be simply a normal, average human free of her "duty" as Tengen's vessel. She dies. Toji wishes to challenge the system that threw him out, desires to make them acknowledge his worth and existence. He also dies.

Studze Kisiel

yeah man, Geto's genocide plans immediately giving me flashbacks to aot lmao, especially now that we know his motive

kiiturii

that is a very interesting theory from jack, that never even crossed my mind, I doubt that's the route they'll take with the show but it's interesting to think about

kiiturii

Also according to some previews and the title of the next episode there actually will be a new scene that's in the manga so you should still watch next weeks episode!

Elina

What's so interesting is that if you look back on season 1 and jjk0 you can see how these events influenced gojo as a teacher and his thoughts on the higher ups. He has a line about how nobody is allowed to take youth away from young people and that's been shown through his experiences with Riko and Geto, and then in this episode Haibara and Nanami. They all had to grow up so fast, or died before they got to grow up and so Gojo is very adamant about cherishing that youth.

Elina

Wow… Geto sort of reminds me of Eren from AOT. Yeah, their methods are different, but Geto is still trying to protect his comrades and jujutsu sorceres, but is willing to wipe out everyone else… wow. I feel for Geto, but homeboy wrong. Ughhhhhh I love that I’m not a manga reader and have to anticipate what’s to come 🫡🔥

Abigail Jerry

had to google this and wtaf 😭😭😭

Carrie

when is vinnland saga gonna drop?

Scheoling Drunkenmaster Skibidi toilet

mmm yes where is brick

Ladnon

You guys are cooking again with the theories. I really loved the episode, every time Geto's beliefs start wavering the claps started simulating the sound of the rain or the water in the bath, I like that a lot. I believe it would be worth to watch the 2 recap episodes, they will really highlight all things that are important (hopefully), even if you don't react to them of course. Yuki knows about the start plasma vessels, so trust her words. Also, I was able to watch the video on 1080p without any lagging or buffering, which is something I couldn't on streamable, so that's better for me!!

Ale

interesting how Geto’s defection seems to have impacted Gojo’s approach to teaching. I think he deeply regrets not being able to help him & doesn't want his students to go through the same isolation. I’m thinking about how he put Yuji’s room next to Megumi’s so they could be there for each other. & he said something like “no one should take youth away from the young” What happened to Geto changed Gojo in so many ways. Love how you guys grew to appreciate his character during this arc!

Carrie

"what if geto can absorb mahito..." interesting

aliyahaseyo

Cannon Andrus

Todou is the perfect example of Yuki’s method. He was first introduced as a kid with a lot of rage, beating up an older guy.. until Yuki appeared to “train” him. That is why Todou knows the fundamentals of using Jujutsu sorcery eventhough he did not come from a family of sorcerers, because he has to learn them from scratch (remember when he was training Yuji). Meaning, Yuki’s method is possible, but not always successful and would take years to get results. So, Geto had that idea to eliminate non-sorcerers instead, as it would be easier to erase the cause of curse energy. ✌🏼 Yuki’s intervention brought two different paths: The existence of Todou.. one of the strongest sorcerers, and the downfall of Geto Suguru.

Joie Dianzon

mckay is right, 18 weeks of shibuya is about to be INSANE the weekly wait is gonna be so brutal

nans

If y’all noticed the lighting of their last talk, in the movie Gojos memory of it is dark and depressing because that’s how he remembers it. While in this arc that is about Geto, this scene leans more to his perspective and shows it more bright which shows Geto finally feels free being his “true” self
