Back then he was writing 10 chapters and those were indeed published already. Since then there has been no update on more chapters. A lot of people masquerade as mangaka on Twitter, I’d be wary who to believe.

2023-08-17 04:23:36 +0000 UTCthe reason the manga probably won't be finished in our lifetime is because the author has some illnesses. after the final ep of season 6 aired, the entire series went on hiatus for years because of his illness and didn't start back up again until recently (within the last year i think). idk what the actual illness or whatever is but i know it's really serious so unfortunately the manga will probably go unfinished.

I mean, One Piece is one of my fav anime of all time. AOT is a depressing anime with some hope/comedy early on but over the seasons killed it off, in some cases literally, thanks Gabi! A really good story needs a balance between hope/comedy and tragedy. Even Game of Thrones, known for its brutality, balances it out with Tyrion's character.

What I meant was that (I believe) Togashi had very different inspirations for each arc as he was writing them at different points in his life (over a 25 year period now). I think the story would have been different (i.e. tone, themes etc.) if he had been continuously writing the story.

As other comments have mentioned, the manga is notorious for being on hiatus (Hiatus x Hiatus 😭). To put things in perspective, One Piece was serialised in July 1997 and HxH in March 1998 — less than a year apart. At the time, One piece had 29 more chapters than HxH. Now, there is a 690 difference. Because the story was written between breaks and over a long period of time, you will notice major tonal shifts as the story progresses. A lot of people say that the genre changes with each arc.

They do have some content on the source material to adapt some 25 episodes or so though. And regarding the manga, The author has a permanent injury on his back that prevents him from writing it. The manga came back a few months ago after a 5 year hiatus but it wen on hiatus again after 5 chapters. Jump was considering canceling the series. Thats why we say its never gonna end. At this rate the author is literally gonna die before finishing it. And the story is nowhere near a possible excuse of an ending. Like, even if he rushes he cant finish the story in the next 100 chapters. He would need more to tie all the plots and stuff.

The manga is just getting there, but it may be an unfortunate case where we'll never see the full scope of the narrative through unless he hands it down to his wife.

So even if you just watch the 148 episodes, that is a very good ending point. As someone already mentioned, since the manga has undergone hiatus many times, we fear that the story (beyond the anime) may never finish! The current arc in the manga is so complex that is going to take a while to finish.

Hunter x Hunter is so unpredictable, and this show only gets more creative and creative. I always love seeing those genius writers thinking/creativity through manga and anime, especially Togashi and Isayama（AOT）.

I don’t think he can write the current arc week to week. At a certain point HxH became super complicated for a shounen, makes sense he needs time to think it all through. The Succession War of HxH for example is the literal equivalent of a Game of Thrones in anime, so many factions and people vying for the throne, while a ton of subplots go on.

This is due to the health issues of its creator Yoshihiro Togashi, specifically his back problems. He even mentioned it's hard for him to draw for prolonged periods of time. Now you might think that the hiatuses are excessive but you need to understand that the grind for manga creators is brutal what with extreme crunch time where they have to deliver weekly. People used to meme about it being HiatusxHiatus but after Berserk's creator Kentauro Miura died recently because of health issues people began to take these things more seriously. Now the manga is ongoing but the 2011 anime provides a pretty good ending point. Togashi himself has stated that the story somewhat ends where the anime ends but that he wanted to expand further on the story. Also, some character arcs are still unfinished so the continuation of the manga is very much needed. People say the manga will never finish because we get few chapters every few years and because Togashi's writing is very detailed and meticulous but hey that's what makes this series so goated. Last year unexpectedly Togashi made a Twitter account and tweeted a picture of a tree he painted, signalling the continuation of the manga. You have to understand that at this point the manga had been on hiatus since 2018 and people really actually gave up on it ever finishing. The tweet quickly garnered 1 million likes(!) and was trending for days. People actually couldn't believe it. This shows the impact of his work and how much everyone loves it. We got 10 more chapter with some of the most impactful story beats. As for now, Togashi is working with his editors to create a schedule to better fit him so that he can continue the story but due to his health it's still unclear. All we can wish is for Togashi's health to improve so honestly the manga can wait. What is important is his health.
