A Discussion/Trailer Reaction About The Live Action One P.

CALLING EVERYONE THAT DOESNT HATE ONE PIECE

We were all geared up and ready to watch the first episode of the Live action one piece, but as you all know the only one that has seen it amongst us is Jack. He was nervous about this being our first experience with the world and story, so we were on the fence and ultimately decided to watch the trailer and talk about it. After watching this video let us know your thoughts. You'll hear in this video we had a plan for a one piece video that some already knew about....

Comments

So were you guys surprised that critics and people gave the live action series good reviews?

Zannen Da

one piece doesnt have a 'gratuitous' amount of filler tho

Alan Wang

The Live Action is great. I really didn't care for any of the anime arcs it covered. I only stuck with it because it's my 24 year old son's favorite anime. And another reaction channel I support started watching it. While the LA does bring certain story elements forward in time I don't think it matters At All. Frankly, and I'm sure this will upset some OP fans but...... One Piece isn't exactly the kind of anime you can "spoil." Like, I knew about a bunch of big things that were going to happen ahead of time. Didn't take away from my enjoyment. And I was enjoying it by then. The LA is much better than the anime in the beginning though imo. There was only one bad episode imo but I thought they portrayed the character traits better and earlier than the anime. That might mean it's better to watch the anime first then. I tried to rewatch the anime to see the changes the LA did more clearly but only got 4 eps in before I had to quit. It's exactly the kind of stuff that the haters hate and I don't like either 😂

Stairguy

If you go down this big journey I suggest you do anime first. But hey there are too many episodes so where and how do you even begin? I'm recommending "One Pace" a fan edited cut down version of all the arcs to a better pace and no fillers

Kundeso

ey 3 years?? try 10 years if it's 2 episodes a week. It would only be 3 years if they did SEVEN episodes a week which is 1 per day for the next THREE YEARS STRAIGHT MINIMUM. Absolutely impossible to maintain that kind if flow. One Piece is impossible to start for reactors at this point.

rayman

The live action has elements (AND SPOILERS) that aren't revealed until ep 300+, so unless you guys care about that, I would say to hold off on watching the live action until you've seen the anime. I used to be a one piece HATER until I actually watched it, and I can say with confidence that it's one of the greatest animes ever. Yes, there's a lot of episodes, we all know that. But when you learn the story, the characters, and how everything comes together, it's worth it.

roczilla_2000

dont watch it anime much better

Arallius

I just watched the first episode and it surprised me in a good way. But I have also read some of the manga and watched the first 150 episodes of the anime a few years back. Yes it was cringe at times and some effects were wonky but then again I’m 30 and I think it’s probably targeted towards the same demographic as the manga which is way younger. For me it goes in the same category as Harry Potter, something I enjoy because of the original but not so much for it being a masterpiece in off it self. I like that there is an adaptation that might reach an new audience, but I can’t really say if I think you should watch it or not. If anything I’d recommend reading it.

Linn

Finished it today and really enjoyed it! They did a great job. There were changes but everyone was in character and you could tell Oda was closely associated. In regards to watching the anime. Watch it for as long as you enjoy it. I’ve gotten a lot of people to watch one piece by saying forget the total episodes see if you like it. When you stop liking it drop it. Since you guys enjoyed HXH I think you will like it.

Bri

Obviously Jack has seen it🗿

Sasha

Yeah but the anime is long as fuck. They would probably have to watch One Piece for three years.

Sasha

@hatemylife2003 why me? lol I haven't been watching the anime except for a few episodes with good fights here and there. I mostly just wait for manga chapters to stack up so I can binge, and I recently binged them to the current chapter. But since you asked, I went and watched it just for you, and my only question is when the hell did the animation get so good? That was sick 10/10, if the anime is going to pad episodes then the best way is with sick fight scenes. I'm glad they decreased the looney tunes feel of Luffy's new form compared to the initial episode he transforms.

Sigh Berian

Agreed, after watching 3 episodes of Live Action they changes a lot of the Anime and the pace is very fast that first time viewer wouldn't understand everything.

Ultimate

I feel like you should watch anime OP before watching the Live Action. Definitely has some spoiler moments that you won't get the same impact if you watch opla before op. Also anime hits harder. Just my opinion been reading since i was a kid (33 now) and doesnt disappoint. You guys are great though loving all your reactions! Can't wait to see Fullmetal Alchemist brotherhood hopefully someday!

Dan Pollack

luffy was an ooc mess and sanji sucked ass

luffy

the best anime adaptation for me is Ruroini Kenshin, you can watch the live action too as an introduction to his world - samurai fight scenes but as with most animes the concept of morality, social construct, philosophy, these are also covered and if youre interested with the anime, it has been revived with 2023 animation :).. so with that said, the one piece live action given how vast the world build up is, how they did it the LA is quite interesting that if you havent seen one piece before i think this is a good start too. after all Oda-sensei said with this medium hed like to see if it will gain new followers :).. give it a shot maybe 2-3 episodes if you like it then continue.

noodlemiso_tofu

Completely disagree, Inaki did a great job as Luffy and everyone else captures a similar vibe to the original characters too. Zoro is especially great. Obviously the anime and manga are better but its a very solid live action adaptation that doesnt disrespect the source material. It could be a good introduction to non One Piece fans as the stories are a lot faster paced, but maybe I just enjoyed it so much because I already love One Piece

Chris7o

At least the Live Action is better than the manga

Kwisatz

rate the new one piece ep

hatemylife2003

It’s actually really good!! You can try :)

Audreyldo

I'll revise the live action up to 5/10 after watching it with the Japanese dub. The guy who plays Luffy in the live action is just not a good actor and the elementary dialogue doesn't help him either. Watching in Japanese dub helps with that because the OG Luffy voice actor is amazing. Although the live action does some things better and it's cool to see the sets, they dumb down the story too much and erase any depth that the anime and manga have.

Sigh Berian

no actually binge hxh in one night please

Poragami

One Piece is full of anime tropes, and there are still some things that Carter hates about anime.

James

Damn that episode was amazing! Beginning to end. I might just pick up where I left off at 79, now that there is some light at the end of the long ass tunnel lol.

Figgy

because he actually had full reign on the project

GBuckets

can you make that 20?

GBuckets

im a one piece fanboy and even I will say, please don't watch one piece. stick to shorter animes

GBuckets

what's off about it is they're japanese. They should be european except mikasa and levi

GBuckets

"geared up"

Wägi qwq

closed minded much i like the anime at episode 5 and I started last year, I'm on 1007 now didn't think I'd become a one peice fan

Agha

ATLA S1 is incredibly short compared to One Piece, it’s not comparable. Also, I should mention the first 100 eps or so of One Piece are decently enough paced, but even there, you will lose people. Even there, they could afford to be faster but I don’t think you would get as invested that way. I am way more invested in the straw hats than I am the JJK crew, just because I’ve spent so much longer with them. It’s a give and take, but I know too many people who couldn’t watch One Piece for one reason or another and stopped a little into it and just given what I know of these guys (which tbf is not a lot), I just don’t know if they could do it. Even as a One Piece fan, the show is just hard to watch at times because of the pacing. Again first 100 or so episodes notwithstanding, at least a little, because the arcs are so much shorter.

Faris Alamin

i feel like live action luffy captures the characters sillyness but not his charisma and faith in himself

Eric Mohn

Update: I just watched it. And it was actually good. Now I know why it's Oda Approved 👍

corLeonis

Sigh Berian is a hater no matter what, I don’t think I’ve seen a positive comment from them on anything other than AOT.

Coran

i definitely think the live action would be better than forcing Ur self to watch twelve hours of the anime

Harrison Hird

to be honest i was very sceptical at first but after watching it i can honestly say that the live action is good

Harrison Hird

real

James

I feel if you're willing to watch the anime you might as well, and then check out the live action for fun after you've watched up to where it reaches? My experience is that as someone who never had the slightest interest in One Piece, my friend making me watch the One Piece live action made me have interest in reading the manga.

Zally

@figgy check episode 1062 for some good action. Although action in OP isn't comparable to say Naruto Ship, it does get better as the anime goes. At 79, you just got through 2 of my least fav arcs lol, next 3 should be better whenever you start watching again. Episodes 230-500 is what solidified OP as my fav anime. @ssj4rit Bruh, it's one of the least repetitive Shonen anime idk what you are talking about. What other anime has anything close to the uniqueness of Impel down? Zou? Jaya? Reverie? Marineford? Water 7?

Sigh Berian

@figgy somewhere around episode 320

Sigh Berian

Yes

Studio Geck

IMO it’s one of the most repetitive shounen in terms of structure, and the stakes aren’t that high due to all the death fakeouts. But the worldbuilding and overarching plot is top tier. It’s annoying having to wade through a ton of fights though just to get to the cool stuff like the lore and secrets of the world. Atleast in manga you can breeze through it lol

ssj4rit

Thanks for the heads up!

Figgy

This is probably gonna stop me from watching the Netflix adaptation. I'm about 80 episodes in, so I thought the live action would cover the story well within those 80 episodes. But now I'm concerned about the live action spoiling the anime/manga for me. What anime episode is that plot point revealed?

Figgy

Geez, the comment section in here got way too toxic... Anyways, I watched the first two episodes of the live action, and I personally liked it. It has a lot of charm although it can get a bit corny and cheesy at times. This show is a good starting point for newcomers, but if you guys do decide to check the live action out, just go into it with an open mind b/c One Piece is wacky and goofy.

HannahBanana

I stopped after 79 episodes. I didn't hate it but didn't wow me either. I thought it was because those early episodes felt so outdated, so I skipped ahead and watched an episode in the 1000 something, a blue dragon and pink dragon fighting, and the action still didn't hook me. I'm gonna give it another shot some day.

Figgy

The thing is OP is also very action filled, it can easily do 2.5 or even 3.5 chapters an episode. It just makes the episodes so mind numbing slow. Maybe one day it’ll get the DB Kai treatment. For 1100 chapters it should only be 550 episodes TOPS. Best shounen adaptation pace is 2 chapters an episode (sometimes a bit less for text heavy stories, but even then, DN adapted 50 chapters into the first 25 episodes quite easily).

ssj4rit

Are we getting 6 episodes every week?

neko

@Studio Gek Ben Simmons is trash, Embiid is going to demand a trade next offseason, but trust the process 👍😂

Sigh Berian

ALL THE HXH Episodes will be posted tomorrow!

Studio Geck

Yes go to collections and it will be labeled D. N.

Studio Geck

Its not going to replace any poll shows at all. Trust the process

Studio Geck

if the pacing was so bad it wouldnt be so popular

luffy

People are making pacing a bigger issue than it is. There is a solution to bad pacing in the anime, its called One Pace. It's cuts filler and excessive padding in episodes. The first 500 episodes of the anime has decent pacing comparable to other anime, it only becomes an issue after 500 episodes. But if you feel like the pacing is bad before then, you can always just switch to One Pace even earlier. Don't let this nonissue stop you from watching the anime.

Sigh Berian

I haven't seen One Piece before so I googled to see if the adaptation was actually as slow as people say and... wow. I know that JJK season 1 adapted 63 chapters in its 24 episodes (2.625 chapters per episode) then looking at how long it took the most recent episodes of One Piece to adapt 63 chapters I saw it was around 80 EPISODES! That's LESS THAN 0.8 CHAPTERS PER EPISODE! How do you even adapt less than 1 page of manga per minute, that's insane?! Looking at the start of One Piece it took 28 episodes to adapt 63 chapters which is A LOT better but still... is half an episode of modern One Piece just recap and filler 💀

BigManSirob

I want to see why it's rated 1 in anime. Seeing your reaction for it. I've changed my mind. Thanks

Ace Freyley

Ohh its the guy that was saying HxH is cheesy compared to ATLA lmao

Sigh Berian

Wtf 500 episodes?? More like 50

T

👎🙄 Completely disagree. I think Carter and Cannon would love it. I think Brig would also love it later on. Idk about McKay tho. If they can get through ATLA season 1, they can easily enjoy One Piece.

Sigh Berian

Just finished watching all 8 episodes of the live action one piece and it blew my expectations out of the water it was surprisingly good and I'm currently on episodes 890 of the one piece anime

Iron_claw

I can't believe you're even considering this trash show. And by that I mean BOTH live action AND anime. Anything that requires 500 episodes to "get good" is just trash. FMAB was second place last poll so obviously a lot of people love it. Not sure what's your thought process at all...

Mysterious Figure

Anyone know how to find death note. Is there a playlist

Ace Freyley

Ngl, I really don't think you guys will like One Piece, at least Cannon and Carter. It has amazing moments, especially because it builds everything up so much, but the show is just so, so, so long and drawn out. Most anime adapt multiple chapters per episode so they progress at a good pace. One Piece comes out weekly and so each episode can only be a single chapter. The show is glacially slow, doesn't have the level of animation you're used to, doesn't have good fight choreography/animation. The only redeemable things about the show are the moments and the world building. Also, ngl I personally still love the introductions of each of the characters, three of which made me cry (as someone who generally struggles to cry at media). I still love One Piece because I started it young and I'm very used to the long drawn out anime, but even among those, One Piece is singularly slow and also just by far the worst in quality. If you want to experience One Piece, I'd suggest reading the manga in your own time. You might think manga can't be as hype as anime and while I agree a manga can't reach the peaks a show like the AOT anime will, good manga are actually way better than you'd think at sucking you in and making you feel like you're in the world. Sorry for the dissertation, I got a bit carried away. EDIT: After some thought, I still think you guys should watch it because I might be completely wrong and you guys might love it. The first 100 or so episodes are actually finely paced as long as you skip the filler, they aren't close to fast paced, but the pace is decent and I think it's worth giving a chance to see if you like it. It's popular for a reason after all.

Faris Alamin

It's good but definitely not peak.

Bryce Jones

LETS GOOOO hopefully its the anime

luffy

Brig's take away on the trailer: *sees nami* "ok i might have to watch this" "bro she's bad"

GBuckets

I think you guys will go back to being anime haters if you start watching One Piece, but there's nothing wrong with giving it a shot.

James

I can’t stand one piece, it’s not my style and I don’t think a lot of you will like it either, but idk I’ve only seen about 150 episodes before cutting it out where some people say it gets good after like 300-500 lol

Alex Michael Christensen

Usually if you don't like it after 45 episodes than you prob won't like the rest of the show—there are exceptions tho (including me)—but the earliest good episodes are 4, 19, 24, and 31-45. These are the episodes I always watch on a rewatch. Episodes 20-30 are pretty good too but they are on a lower tier than the ones I mentioned.

Sigh Berian

plllleassseeee asdgkkamzjill

esie ♡︎

That live action AOT was sadly not the best, something about it really felt off. Though I'd hope a new better one happens in the future.

Sham3ful

I think we might have different views on amazing. What episode is the hit or miss point/arc in One Piece? If it's less than 50 I might give it a try.

Coen

"1000 episodes is too much." $1 mil is too much. The point of the analogy is to say that you can't have too much of such an amazing thing. Just like you won't catch people complaining about having too much money, you won't catch me complaining about having too many episodes because they are amazing. 😔

Sigh Berian

analogy: a comparison between one thing and another, typically for the purpose of explanation or clarification. Now please tell me how what you said made any sense as an analogy..

Coen

not arguing that but the animators do a great job haha I just get curious cause ppl on twitter couldn't keep the new form to themselves 💀

Kyle

I'd rather watch them react to live action for AOT or Death Note than the One Piece live action.

Sigh Berian

nah it spoils stuff that happens 300 episodes in the anime.

Sigh Berian

drop the reaction to a silent voice

hatemylife2003

Oh they've done a live action Attack on Titan

Kwisatz

or just do both lol

hatemylife2003

We gottem boys! 🎉

Sigh Berian

They should watch until episode 500 and then if they still don't like it they can drop it 😏

Sigh Berian

Probably my favorite story I ever read/watched. Can't think of another piece of media I enjoyed reading or watching more than OP besides maybe Kingdom manga.

Sigh Berian

Probably the best anime/manga adaptation yet. Some questionable choices, and I personally thought the actors could have been better, but overall good. Coming from someone who likes the manga and thinks the anime is a hot piece of garbage (which it absolutely is)

Nope

⛵🌞✨💖

Fátima Quintero

SMH do I really need to explain what an analogy is?

Sigh Berian

😭😭😭😭✨✨✨✨✨💖💖💖💖

Fátima Quintero

Tbh you guys could watch One Piece as long as you take your time and don't mind the big amount of episodes. One Piece is a long journey but it's one of those anime that you hold really dear to your heart once you start getting into it, the characters are amazing and very well-written (story too ofc) and you get attached to them quickly.

Elisa Kallai

Love all these comments yall. All I can say is the Gek boys have never been closer to watching one piece 😈

Studio Geck

🫶🏽

Studio Geck

Just watched it, it's good.

Starkfern

You watch OP?

McKay Carter

Finished the live action would give it a solid 8.5 pretty good for an anime live action wasn’t a copy and past. But had the essence of one piece which i liked.

Emily

All ima say is the live action is good, (plus solid ratings on rotten tomatoes and IMDB) and has many changes to fit as a tv show but still captures the feel of one piece. So give it a try at some point. I feel it can be a great gateway to getting interested in one piece. And in the future y’all could even do fun video ideas comparing the anime and live action cuz the tv show has interesting and fun changes. Anyways, One piece will be like “anime haters” biggest test of their anime journey lmao so hopefully they give it a try.

Nonos

You didn’t understand what i’m saying. If you need to skip episodes in general cause they are filler then something is wrong with your show.

notchrisramirez

🟥🟥READ ME FOR ONE MINUTE PLEASE🟥🟥 88 Attack on titan 9 Last of us 11 Demond Slayer 37 Death Note 48 Vinland Saga 12 Chainsaw Man 47 Jujutsu Kaisen 148 Hunter x Hunter 61 A.T.L.A 1 Your name 26 Evangelion .......... That's a total of 488 episodes or movies you have seen or will see at this point that I can remember, and some of them are +40 minutes long). I have seen almost every one of them with you guys since the beggining of your channel hahaha and even if some videos have been more cool that others I love seen your journey (imagine when you see FMAB and Haikyuu)... I invite you to see One Piece keeping in mind that is made that long because it has o lot of things to share... enjoy the journey, enjoy the moments, action or without action, the character development, world building, it pays back every single minute of you time.

Fátima Quintero

you guys should definitely check out OnePace! its the website that streams one piece episodes but edited to make it as short as possible and (imo) the closest one to manga

Henarivan Andhika

The OP manga is a masterpiece - i mean there's a reason why it's the most sold comic series ever - but the anime is going to be difficult to binge because it's too long and didn't have much resources when it was first made. I think the live action is a good enough introduction, but the manga is the real deal

T

If you decide to watch the anime try One Pace. It's fan made and cuts a lot of the filler.

Kwisatz

It seems pretty accurate and entertaining so far! I’d say it’s an easier to digest version of the anime, you’re definitely getting through it quicker than watching the anime for sure

chloe willmott

the anime is very good and i genuinely love it, however i have also had times where i have skimmed a couple arcs that were for the most part inconsequential in my opinion, thriller bark and skypeia, i have watched back the important episodes of those arcs but yh

Elijah Slocombe

having watched a little bit of the one piece anime, then trying to watch the live action i found myself saying 'tbh id rather just be watching the anime rn'

bigdog

how about just reacting to what everyone reacts to when thinkng about starting One Piece or not "Why You Should Watch/ Read One Piece" from Super Eyepatch Wolf it should give you a good glimpse at least (the potential minor spoilers don't matter since you won't remember by the time you reach that point) and if thats not enough, he has a second video "The Appeal of One Piece: Where to Start" also from Super Eyepatch Wolf (this one comes before the other video if you wanna watch it in order) And it's commonly known that one piece is the single greatest story written in the genre everyone that actually watched One Piece and a lot of other anime can attest it also there are tons of videos from people saying the same things as you guys and updates after watching it and confirmind that One Piece is the best one i think the most famous one is Uzumaki Khan

SeCo D. Raw

They all appreciate the storylines. If they are just interested in fighting, they wouldn’t like Death Note and Vinland Saga. 😅 I just mean, they would hate it because of the pacing. Usually, it’s what kills the interest.

Joie Dianzon 🇵🇭

I just watched it. I like it, even without watching the anime. It’s a good watch for those who don’t want to go through a million episodes just to finish the story. 😄

Joie Dianzon 🇵🇭

🤣🤣🤣 I use to be just like McKay and Brig bout OP, more like McKay, till I finally gave it a real shot. Now it’s one of my all time favorites. I would say watch atleast till end of arlong park, it still took until a certain episode in that arc to really hook me, I also just accidentally skipped loguetown when watching cause I thought it was filler, but anything before that point is most likely covered in the live action. Definitely cover up to arlong before watching the whole live action.

Nicolas Martinez

idk tht other persons but i cried in the 4th episode of the anime so i think you should waatch alteast few episodes

jatri01

i think you guys should atleast watch the anime until the end of arlong park, if you aren’t feeling it by then just drop it. i personally liked the anime from the beginning.

Wiifty

true, but, u gotta keep in mind, these guys don't like one piece to begin with, so giving them a live action to watch about a show they don't like? doesn't seem to add up

Poragami

I love One Piece. And it's one of the few animes that I really like the main character hahaha I am also very nervous of this Live action because I feel like if they did this bad, those who watch it in curiousity mighy hate the anime huhuhu.. The only live action of a (Shounen) Anime that I was very satisfied with was Rurouni Kenshin/Samurai X. I suggest you also include that in your reaction of Live action movies if you have time tho hehe

corLeonis

@SighBerian You defend OP anime like its your own life😂. Love it❤️❤️

BipolarKitten

No way you just compared money to watching an anime 😭

Coen

i just know carter and cannon will enjoy the anime, jack i believe in you make sure they do the 12 hour watch through, king

luffy

thats just not true the very first saga is peak you guys need to stop

luffy

if you use 9anime you dont need a filler guide, all filler episodes are highlghted yellow

luffy

I CANT WITH THE ONE PIECE SLANDER POOR JACK 😭😭

DeadLotus

I'm just going to say this comparison: The Harry Potter saga movies are REALLY REALLY REALLY BAD adaptations (except for the first and almost the second movie) I watched ALL the movies first when I was a kid and love it. And as I grew with them, I read the books years later the saga was finished, and that's when I realized how bad where the movies. BUT I still enjoy them and do marathons with my sisters. SO, even of you watch the live action first, keep in mind that the anime and manga are better, just that.

Fátima Quintero

In terms of it ruining the anime when you eventually watch it, I really don't think it will. At a lot of points the live action is VASTLY different from the anime and there are some big changes. But if you're planning on ever watching the anime on here then just do that then lol. But one thing might be ruined that is a huge plot point that is revealed way later in the anime then this is at, unfortunately. But everything else I think would be fine.

Blast

I’m not a big fan of OP but I enjoyed the live action. Solid 7.5/10 and one of the best live action anime adaptation I’ve seen so far (yeah it’s a low bar to pass but Netflix managed something actually great this time lol) Also Garp is great lol

ssj4rit

There is actually an AOT live adaptation. Maybe you should check it out. I hated it though.

Natsu1401

it's more of the way that they are drawn, i just enjoy animes better when they are more colorful i guess? i have been trying to get into one piece (since like 10 yrs ago) but i cannot get past the first episode because of how they are drawn.

Kaydee

One Piece is so hard to get into but once you get it, you get it. I can honestly say that One Piece has changed my life in a very positive way and is now my favorite story of all time.

James Taylor

It's honestly the best anime live action ive ever seen. There are definitely some cringe moments but I think that's part of One Pieces charm and also unavoidable when ur adapting an anime to real life. I'm only one episode 5 rn but so far everything's been pretty good and fun to watch. Zoros swordfighting is way better in this one at least for the earlier arcs since the anime is old and has a lot of still images for fights early on. I think that's enough of a reason to watch this adaption tbh.

cristian graciano

Boruto doesnt exist

Sam F

It's just a person principle of mine to avoid anime with gratuitous amounts of filler in it. If I gotta follow a show guide to see what episodes to skip then you've lost me before I even started. I know Brig is gonna hate this if he sees it, but thats why I quit Naruto. Sasuke was my favorite fictional character growing up but I initially quit cause I was too bored as a kid. Also why I quit Boruto.

notchrisramirez

Maybe better not to watch. I doubt if you’d still enjoy the anime with spoilers.

ttchoppa

yes, it was idiotic of them to spoil something that's 300 episodes in the anime.

Sigh Berian

it's a 7.5/10 before Water 7, then turns into 9.5/10. On rewatch East Blue is an 8.5/10 but on a first watch it was kinda boring.

Sigh Berian

That quote is funny ash, but ppl who say one piece gets good in hundreds of episodes are lying. It’s pretty decent at the start and hooks you by episode 24 or 37 for most. It’s so annoying when ppl who don’t watch the show say that excuse that they won’t watch one piece because they don’t want to watch hundreds of episodes before it gets good.

Nonos

The Live Action has spoilers from episodes way later in the series and that's a big disappointment for me. Other than that there is a ton of skipped content but its not horrible. Its a solid 6-7 out of 10, so for a Live Action that's really good IMO. I think the Anime is still miles and miles better in every way and I don't think its worth watching the Live Action until after watching the Anime.

Jed

I mean the creator being involved isn't a good thing. He was involved in the anime that would "take a billion dollars to make it to the part where they say it gets good"

notchrisramirez

"You gotta spend a billion dollars just to make it to the part where they say it gets good" gotta be the coldest bars Carter has dropped on this channel.

notchrisramirez

Imma be honest... from all the footage ive seen online about this, IT LOOKS GOOFY AHHHHH. I probably will not be going near this with a 10ft pole.

notchrisramirez

Jack, just tie them up for 24 hours and make them sit there and watch the OP anime.

Sigh Berian

Fights are the weakest part of OP. It's like trying to watch Demon Slayer only for it's profound story and skipping all the fights.

Sigh Berian

If you have problems with the anime quality they release movie versions of the beginning of one piece it’s on Netflix

Emily

I think Carter and Cannon would enjoy One Piece a lot. They are more interested in the story and characters than fights compared to Brig and McKay.

Sigh Berian

the pacing is just right. anyone can understand the story without it being too draggy like how an anime can sometimes be.

Kaydee

coming from someone that will never watch or read op except watch the fights on YT. the live action is cool Iñaki Godoy carries

Kyle

I like one piece but i feel like they wouldn't enjoy the slower parts and you know how bad pacing can be. It's also extremely long that they may tire out.

Can’t touch this Stone

I don't think it's a horrible adaptation, however you don't really get the same feeling you get in the anime compared to the live action. I would definitely rather tune in for reactions to the anime rather than the live action.

Huewi

"The ratings are just manipulated" sure sounds like copium to me

HeavenlyR

As someone who never saw OP anime, I got so interested in the story after seeing the first live action trailers. I tried the first episode of anime and I really cannot get into it (I don't like the graphics of it). I watched the first episode of live action today and I enjoyed it. Just wanted to share my experience with it. :D

Kaydee

I've watched a few episodes of the live action and so far it's good, I do hope you guys watch the anime one day even though it's difficult getting into it this late because of the amount of episodes, I personally started watching it ten years ago so it was easy to catch up with it back then but ten years later it's still in my top 5 animes it's such a big world and emotional adventure but the farther you get into it the pacing gets pretty bad for the big arcs but by then it's kinda hard to stop if you end up liking the characters as much as one piece fans do.

Paola

omg & with Castlevania Nocturne coming out next month 👀 would actually be so sick if they watched it

Carrie

Them watching Castlevania would be so GOAT'd... I don't really like Western Cartoons but Castlevania was amazing.

Michael Corleone

*cough* cough* castlevania is still out there if you don’t decide to watch OP *cough* *cough*

James Wilson

I was actually excited for it, you can check my comments from a few days ago. Give people some time to come down from snorting all the copium. Also, Plenty of ways to manipulate ratings.

Sigh Berian

Actually oda was involved, like in person & gave advice! I think it would be interesting 🤔 I'd say much better than the other ones

ミッシェル

lmaoo yeah that shot was a bit of a jump scare

Carrie

Lol what? That's like saying $1 mil is too much, please give me less.

Sigh Berian

Bro but the thing is oda literally worked with Netflix so this live action could bring newer fans introduced to one piece in the west lol. Looking at it unbiasedly, it’s good and can be a good introduction and fun encapsulation of the east blue saga for ppl who are scared to start the long ass anime. Many ppl who haven’t seen one piece before the live action have enjoyed it which is what oda wants, u feel me

Nonos

She made the show watchable honestly. But the only nudity you get in the show is from a dude 🤮

Sigh Berian

Like I said, not every show will be a banger. A story can be amazing with just 12 or 24 episodes. Sometimes it doesn't need more. It's a good experience. It doesn't need to be dragged out just for the sake of attachment. That would be a waste to a good show. A 1000 episodes though? Really? I will never defend it, or understand it. It might be your favourite show, but you have to admit that a 1000 episodes is too much.

Coen

Certified fresh at 82% on rotten tomatoes and 8.6 on IMDb, the only ones coping are people who swore it would be terrible from the beginning when it was first announced

HeavenlyR

@BipolarKitten lying to yourself in order to cope with something disappointing. Example: "this show is really good."

Sigh Berian

I might be dumb but what is copium?

BipolarKitten

The pacing gets bad at the half way point, like, it's really not that bad

Poragami

Brig switching sides after seeing the pretty lady who plays live action Nami 😂😂 very relatable tbh

Carrie

It's really good? what am i reading lol

Poragami

Don't watch it, seriously. I wouldn't recommend the OP live action to anyone who hasn't watched OP to begin with. I'm up to date, i grew up with One Piece and this live action is just amazing to me. It's a waste of time for u guys to be honest, rather watch the Anime imo.

Poragami

Skip filler n boruto. Not that long.

BipolarKitten

One Piece live action is like 8.7 on IMDB right now and I just watched it and it was trash. Also, I like long shows, the longer the better, I don't want to watch a good show and then when I finally get attached to the characters, the show ends.

Sigh Berian

Really, really bad.

Jpr343

Don't watch anything under a 7 on MAL or IMDB and you're good. 8 if your standards are high. Lots to enjoy and lots of new stuff to experience which isn't a bland show. Not every show will be a banger, but neither is every episode of One Piece.

Coen

Yeah you think you are getting something amazing, hype, sad, or beautiful but in reality you are just getting a boring bland show #342 that makes you feel like you just wasted time watching it. With one piece, I know I'm going to enjoy it, and the big moments still hit even on rewatch. Also, I'm not saying there aren't any other good anime, just that the vast majority of anime is not worth watching.

Sigh Berian

I'd rather want 50 new experiences, maybe seeing something amazing, hype, sad or beautiful where I won't know what's coming next. Each completely different to the other.

Coen

I have been watching it I kinda like it definitely not like the manga but I actually don't mind that

Emily

I also never watched One Piece, but I’m pretty sure live-action can’t fully express the anime. But if you guys are really excited about it, we can try to watch🤗

Nazerke K

yeah this might be a way to do it if they are scared of the length of OP.

Sigh Berian

If you guys are planning to watch the anime at any point I would definitely not watch the live action. Coming from a huge fan of one piece I would wait until you guys are fully sure if you even want to start it since it’s such a big commitment

Junya

They will all go back to being anime haters. 😅 I never watched OP but I would watch this for Mackenyu Arata (Zoro). He’s a very good action star, even in his Japanese movies.

Joie Dianzon 🇵🇭

Pacing in the LA is way too fast. All the big emotional moments that are supposed to hit, didn't.

Sigh Berian

Agree! I would really like to see evey once in a while a One Piece anime reaction/discussion episode of a sick moment of the show! This way it would also be easier and give them freedom to advance with their planned animes, and not oversaturate their schedule with OP only.

Jpr343

I agree watching the live-action before the anime doesn't capture the anime's true greatness (for any anime in general). I've actually seen probably 10 episodes of the anime a very long time ago but not planning to continue due to my restricted time. Ultimately, the boys can decide what they wanna do haha

Riya

If you guys are going to react to One Piece anime anyway, then just skip the LA. I'd rather watch you guys react to the anime.

Sigh Berian

not even joking, on every rewatch I find something new that I missed before. Other anime seems so generic in comparison.

Sigh Berian

What was good about it?

Sigh Berian

I've recently gotten into one piece, just under the halfway point and it's genuinely been amazing. Haven't had a story that got me experiencing so many emotions in a while. However, I did so with the manga, and unfortunately I think there are 2 main aspects of OP that make it hard to approach as an anime: 1. the easiest one is pacing. I understand that anime is a much more appealing medium to a general audience, but OP's adaptation pushes the limit for me. Not taking into account filler, which can be easily skipped, the vast majority of episodes' runtimes are padded out with needless recaps or flashbacks, 2. the more subjective one is presentation, mainly when it comes to fights and such. I know yall have watched shows with great action animation like aot, csm, jjk, and ds. Unfortunately there's not much of that for OP, since the show's been getting episodes cranked out week by week since 1999. All of this is to say I really don't think watching One Piece, whether its the live action or anime adaptation, is going to give this amazing series a fair shake.

BolarPear

Aye we all have our opinions I guess. Lol Keep finding reasons for why people like the show. Cope

Nonos

Crazy stuff

Coen

strong copium

Sigh Berian

It's okay I admit +1000 caps is something that not everybody can afford to watch, so I suggest you to watch until chapter 45 of the anime too, where the Netflix adaptation ends :DD

Jpr343

i hope you guys do the 24 hr anime watch or 12 whichever one. One piece is dope. I dont mind if you guys watch the live action its all up to you guys. My opinion is it wouldn't ruin the anime if u watch the live action

vojeeisgaming

I'd rather rewatch OP for the 20th time instead of 50 other anime.

Sigh Berian

Definitely anime first (at least through the East Blue saga) - and consider "One Pace", which is a fan project that cuts out a lot of the filler and fixes some of the anime's pacing issues.

Cole Weaver

For the anime its just too long, it can be the best story ever made but sitting down for 1000 episodes just isnt it. id rather watch 50 other animes in that time

Coen

It might be because they are comparing it to other live actions, whereas I'm comparing it to other good shows. They could also be getting some money to post good reviews of it. Or like I said, they could be high on copium. Watching the first episode I was kind of high on copium too, and thought it was like a 7/10 but then I watched the rest and the copium wore off and I started to see this show as trash.

Sigh Berian

dont ruin your one piece perspective mann

Elijah Slocombe

Emily Rudd is thicc. Only thing good about the live action.

Sigh Berian

Lmao might be ur opinion but most reviews and reactions have said mostly positive things about it. Don’t know how it was bad to you, but Studio Gek deserve to give it a try at some point.

Nonos

its really bad. The only way it's considered not bad is by live action standards, against any other show, it's trash. They probably spent the $140 mil on coke because none of the cash was visible in the show.

Sigh Berian

I think the hard part about adapting anime to live action is, most of the anime have a very distinct designs and visual styles which is a huge part of the shows that wouldn't work as well if it weren't drawn/animated. So it is a hard line to be both loyal to original material and make it work in live action. Also, if you are doing a really hardcore One Piece marathon I think a good checkpoint is end of Loguetown arc which is the first 53 episodes. If you ask when will it start to be good, that depends on what you expect and like. Personally, I think it gets good after episode 18 (Baratie arc) but the answer varies from that to episode 300 :D. It is just some of the arcs after around episode 300 is so much better.

kaan

There's a huge astroturfing campaign going on right now. From my other comments, you probably already know me as a big OP fan. I binged the whole show and its awful 3/10 at best. OP fans are high on copium right now. It also spoils some meaningful stuff that only comes 300 episodes in the anime. The spoiler is kind of a medium one. It's not some random thing nor is it the biggest spoiler. Because of how trash the LA was, it might make you guys appreciate the anime when you watch it.

Sigh Berian

if you guys are actually considering to watch one piece and you feel this watch would ruin it then i wouldn’t watch it. i love the original one piece way more than the live action. edit: agree brig, Emily Rudd is bad af

esie ♡︎

I would 1000% watch the anime before watching the live action. I love one piece and cant even watch one episode of the live action. I think I hate the live action actually, to me its pretty bad.

Jay

Watch the Live Action :)

Michael Corleone

I personally don't like the live action, but I won't be hating it here lol. I just think that only watching the Netflix adaptation doesn't capture the anime's true greatness and it would be unfair to judge OP only by watching this. I suggest watching the first 5 anime episodes or so to compare styles and see how you feel, as reacting to the entire anime might not be straightforward. (I feel that OP is something you might enjoy watching on your own and it would be very complex to have the full reaction of the anime here, even if I would enjoy to see you reacting to it, I feel this would be the right way. Maybe just react to some key moments?)

Jpr343

YES TRUE.

esie ♡︎

Broo the live action is actually good.

Nonos

I would also say as someone who has watches OP reactions on YouTube. BE CAREFUL if you watch the anime because Toei animation likes to copyright strike channels who watch the OP anime. TotallyNotMark was hit with 150 copyright stikes on his channel a couple years back for just using clips and reviewing the show. Don't want that to happen to you guys.

ChopperMan713

Yeah, I don't know about going straight into the live action first before the anime will ever work and especially for a show with such a vast imaginative world like One Piece. Other issue is that starting from the beginning of this show is rough for anyone. Legit over a 1000 episodes and each arc goes on for way too long. Buy dammit, when this show hits, it hits on every level. From story, emotion, characters, world building, and fights it is to shelf. You just gotta get through the first 300 episodes or so.

Bryce Jones

Watch one piece :(

Chrisiyyi

you guys should definitely watch the anime. it’s probably too long for a reaction channel so i think you should watch it on your free time and record recommended episode from the fans of crazy reveals and plot points. that’s what i do with my sister cause i don’t want to rewatch the whole thing just yet lol. or even just hold discussions about your journey. it’s a long journey but it’s so worth it. the story is phenomenal.

esie ♡︎

Not as bad as anime nami after timeskip

Chrisiyyi

Watch the anime, 24hours sounds like fun. One piece is a scaler, but i still think the early episodes are fun.

Chrisiyyi

As someone who dropped the anime and saw one episode of the live action I think you guys should give the live action a shot. So far I like it more than the anime.

r.s.

I started watching OP just a while back after avoiding it for so long and it was surprisingly entertaining that I actually got hyped for the adaptation. Just now watching the live but it’s pretty good so far imo

C E.

I agree with Brig I personally just don't think any anime could have that good live action however with a show like one piece where a lot of people (me included) refrain from watching it because of the number of episodes it could be a somewhat good introduction to the show even though it might have a completely different feel rather than the anime

Aapo

Definitely watch the East blue saga before the live action

ryan

Please do not have your first experience with one piece be the live action. I mean it full heartedly when I say one piece is a masterpiece of world building and writing but the manga is the best way to experience the story. The anime is amazing especially recently but it suffer due to its own pacing.

Ryan Pebeck

My suggestion would be watch this first episode of the netflix adaptation and then yay or nay it between each other, cuz this first episode really only "spoils" the set up which is like the first few episodes. So far I like the adaptation for what it is, but up to y'all

Jacob Lancaster

If you're not planning to ever watch One Piece, then try it out. I personally would never try One Piece anime so this will be as far as I would go lol. Live-action anime adaptations are usually interesting just to see how the anime would present itself in a realistic form and it's just pretty fun to watch (forgot to mention, for any anime, watching the anime before live-action is preferable)

Riya

like realistically Naruto is damn near as long as one piece lol just split up into 3 parts (Naruto (220), Naruto: Shippuden (500), Boruto(293 and going) lol so if you can watch ALL of naruto then you definitely can watch one piece

Philbo

I would at the very least suggest the whole East Blue saga before the live action because that’s what it will cover. You can also check out One Pace which is a website that tells you what’s actually important and cuts a TON of time out of watching the series (cuts all the filler, etc.)

Connor Scott

My unbiased opinion is that the show is good!! It’s so fun, I really enjoyed it!! The main story is there but things happen so differently, it’s so interesting. I was honestly super scepticle since it’s a live action but I actually really like it. All the actors are so amazing and I’m so invested in them. The transponder snails are terrifying lmao 💀

esie ♡︎

nop for me

skystrawberry

One Piece is so so good in my opinion, but the anime is just way too long for a reaction channel I think... It's very good though, they just have the tendency to drag out a lot of episodes for a long time for no reason, especially when it comes to fights, which might make it unappealing

Elisa Kallai

i would definitely suggest watching the anime first, the hate it gets is literally just how long it is. but the journey it puts you on is actually amazing. it became my second favorite anime right behind AOT. ive heard 50/50 on the show so far but like you guys were saying its kinda hard to turn anime into live action i mean they couldnt even do it with death note with how simple that is compared to ALOT of other anime. god that was so bad lol

Philbo

As someone who is a HUGE one piece fan and is caught up with wano I think the live action version is quite good. Jack is right, OP is such a hard anime to adapt because it is very cartoon style but I think it is as good as it is going to get. The main cast has pretty good acting/chemistry with one another and you can tell people who enjoy the manga/anime put their heart into this show. Oda was heavily involved in the process too so I would say use your judgement but I think it is a good introduction to the show.

ChopperMan713

I definitely that watching the live action is a good Idea I mean if you were to watch the anime first the hype of the live action would be gone since its so long and plus the live action actually seems cool

pikaiichuu

Honestly, after watching the first three episodes and being an avid One Piece fan, I am pleasantly surprised. This might be the first adaptation that is doing the original work justice. Especially since Oda, the Author is involved. Of course it is definitely not perfect, but for me it is hitting the right spots.

Sebastian Münzberg

Yeahh, I'm a One Piece fan but idk about the live-action, I'm afraid it might turn out a bit cringe since as you said, One piece is very hard to adapt to a live action since it's everything but realistic... But if you guys aren't planning to watch the anime, might as well just watch the live action then..

Elisa Kallai

True, even Oda wanted to change things up & knowing if people wanted 1:1 that'd literally be impossible. Though thankfully he had the last call on everything & decided how to redo the story for this format & foe newcomers which is better than anyone else.

Sham3ful

It seems good so far… only one episode in but y’all should definitely do videos of y’all reacting to it. Hopefully it will get y’all into the anime because idc what anyone says, one piece is gold!

Tyler Cunningham

Give it a try. It's surprisingly not bad. I enjoyed it.

BipolarKitten

i think the live action actually is pretty different from the anime. the main plot points are pretty much the same, but how the crew gets to the finish line is changed, feels like a new show tbh

Ryan C

The author of One Piece is at the helm for most of the things to do with it so i hope its good. HxH soon?👀

Qhoa

Haven’t watched the vid yet. But just saying I understand how jack can be worried about a live action being their first experience of one piece. But honestly it’s good. The casting is great and you can tell they put a lot of effort into this. Also it’s great that the creator of one piece was heavily involved so even he approves it. Pacing is good too and does some things better than what even the anime does in the very early arcs but that’s just me. Definitely the best live action so I think this could be a good introduction to getting into early one piece a lil bit.

Nonos

as someone whos not huge on one piece and has at least seen everything their adapting from the anime, im not hating the live action and im with brig live action nami is bad asf

PiizzaMan

I definitely think watch the anime buuuttt it is a good live adaptation so far, so really it’s up to u how you wanna take that experience if you’re planning on giving one piece a chance🙌🙌either way will be supporting no matter what u decide💜

Veronia

The show is great imo! It broke the curse of bad live adaptation

RiceC00ker

i like it. you should watch the anime after the one piece live action

vojeeisgaming

Show is fine, give it a fair go! If it were 1:1 to the anime it would unbearably boring.

Rhythmnn

Ain't no way yall will trick me into giving One Piece a chance

Mia Malvik

i watched the first episode and i think it’s doing a great job so far. at least in terms of live actions adaptations

jordan solomon

Oh wait “Doesn’t” hate one piece. Read that wrong, excuse me

GB3

THE SHOW IS SURPRISINGLY NOT THAT BAD!!!
