In anime there is casual violence, murder, pervy shit, and world-shaking events, but underage drinking just doesn’t happen. A character could be in the middle of an apocalypse, having just returned from killing a dozen people and groping a dozen girls, but he will not touch a drink while still a minor. It’s like an obscure, immutable rule that all anime follow.

2023-10-18 02:08:59 +0000 UTCAlso, the reason the Zoldycks didn't kill Chrollo is because the phone rang an instant before Silva threw his ability, so he re-directed it at the last second; the manga and the 99 version do a better job in this episode to make the viewer/reader understand this happened (in the 99 version you can hear the phone ring just before the ability making contact). If Illumi hadn't killed the 10 dons in time, then Silva and Zeno would've definitely killed Chrollo as he would've been hit by Silva's balls (no pun intended), though maybe at the expense of Zeno's life.

Unfortunely, how Emperor Times truly works is only explained in the manga later on in the story.

One of my favorite things about HxH is how when we get these intense fights they turn off the music or minimize it and just leave sound effects. It so impactful and puts you on edge at the drastic change. I love the Zoldyks we won’t kill for nothing and we won’t die for nothing.

2023-10-15 16:52:35 +0000 UTCFor some reason the 2011 version didn't introduce an important plot point that happens at the very beginning of the manga and in the first episode of the 1999 version. It's not that huge of a deal, but when this gets introduced later in the show it feels slightly jarring or out of nowhere. If you guys ever get a chance, I highly recommend watching just the first episode of the 1999 version before the end of the arc after this one. I think it would make the story feel a bit more cohesive and well fleshed out. Again, not a huge deal and overall the 2011 is much better but just adding that first episode from 1999 onto the 2011 is what I recommend for the optimal experience.

One is the legitimate Southerpiece auction (Killua revealed in episode 40) which sells artifacts and will be selling copies of Greed Island. The other is the underground auction run by the Mafia which sells body parts, etc. and other items found in the black market. All the action we have seen so far has taken place in the underground auction. And the masterstroke by the Phantom Troupe (PT) here is - through Neon's fortune telling, Chrollo is able to confirm Uvo's death (the 11th month pases away, '11' being Uvo's number) since as far as they know, he is only missing as they haven't been able to find his body, they collectively play a requiem for Uvo by taking out the majority of the mafia henchmen in the city, Chrollo handles the assassins sent to kill PT by killing them all but 2 (Zeno and Silva, 3 if we add Kurapika), he hires another Zoldyck to kill the Ten Dons who put out a hit on the group in the first place so as to neutralize the threat to the PT, gets a lucky break in the fight with Zeno and Silva (luck is also a huge factor in this show, just as in real life), creates fake dead copies so as to get rid of the bounty on their head put by the mafia, steals the underground auction and sells the fake items, making money both ways!! Calling them simply thieves is an understatement, and they are truly a Class A bounty due to their physical strength and Chrollo's acumen!!

The 1999 version actually portrays this intent clearer imo, because it has Silva's cellphone ring just when he's launching his double attack, and so Silva doesn't go all-out as he's attacking because he knows his clients are dead since Illumi is calling. Also episode 54 has a scene before the intro song so make sure to catch that, good stuff this week

I couldn't steal their powers. → I don't think I could ever steal their powers. The right translation gives more depth of respect and the viewer's guess of their power relation. If you ever wanna rewatch episodes 51,52,53, try Hulu. In some parts, Hulu has the translation more true to Japanese dialogue because they have a longer character limitation per line and they are more accurate.

You could rewatch it 100x and still have more to explore on a topic. It’s different than any other series for that reason. You should watch YYH which is also by Togashi.
