It's really just a gun to the face, threatening you to do something(s) or lose your life -- except if that gun were up close in your chest, bypassing all your Nen defenses. It's also not that easy for Chrollo to steal abilities -- like Zeno guessed, there are around 4-5 non-trivial conditions that must be met. When facing up against strong opponents, it'll be pretty hard to meet those conditions, at least unless he can capture/subdue them somehow.

2023-10-21 14:18:00 +0000 UTCSpoiler about Kurapikas Index finger below Index finger- Steal Chain- Allows kurapika to insert the syringe at the end of the chain to steal the abilities of others, whilst the needle is in their Nen is sealed for a time and they loose their ability to use their hatsu until kurapika has used the ability or he gives it back. He can also “inject” abilities into others giving them other peoples Nen abilities temporarily. Basically he can steal abilities to use himself or give to others but only temporarily. There is another component called stealth dolphin but i won’t go into that.

If he can use Chain Jail on himself then it can be used on ppl that are not troupe members, otherwise kurapika would be already dead, since using it on himself would have been a violation of that rule already. Thats how he figured out that he can use Chain Jail on other people since it doesn't violate his contract

Ring finger- Dowsing chain- can be used as a weapon for basic combat (blocking bullets, used as a whip) also can dowse to tell if someone is lying or find a person. Little finger- Arbiter chain- used when eyes scarlet- can place conditional bonds on hearts on anyone. Index- this is a spoiler so I won’t say but it is OP af. Emperor time- allows for all Nen categories to be used to maximum capacity for kurapika. Used when scarlet eyes active. So yes it is only chain jail that is limited to the troupe. All the rest can be used on others.

Letting Pakunoda read his mind would count as confessing. 3. Brig explained it well, the judgement chain was gonna be used so Pakunoda wouldn’t be able to read their minds and learn about Kurapika and his abilities. The reason the others left is because (at that point) only Gon was willing to take on that burden of responsibility, the others weren’t committing at that point to literally risking their lives for Kurapika. But in the end they all decide to help.

2023-10-20 17:16:29 +0000 UTCPersonally I think the lack of Hisoka backstory makes it better, it’s kinda like if in the Dark Knight we got Joker’s backstory, kinda ruins the whole wild card element and makes him just another bad guy. Might just be me though. I kinda like HxH just characterizes villains through their interactions and in the present scenes rather than breaking the present to go into the past. There are backstories that come up though, just not as frequent as other shounen. Could be a plus or minus depending on your preferences.
