Just subscribed! Watched y’alls stuff on youtube, and k i n d of got “nice” vibes. When I saw y’alls socials, I saw the LDS stuff, and it made me smile. My best friend from high school was mormon and I have a lot of good memories with him and his family. Super excited to see how yall like this show!

While she used her Nen ability to tell everything to the phantom troupe, it might appear as if she died from using Nen abilities, but in fact, Kurapika did not prohibit her from using Nen abilities. Chrollo was also prohibited from using Nen abilities due to two conditions set by Kurapika. If he were to violate these conditions, he would be pierced through the heart by Nen blades and die. These conditions required him to adhere to the agreement not to use Nen, rather than being forced into Zetsu. While the result may appear similiar to being froce into Zetsu, but slightly different. Technically he's Nen didnt gone just cant use.

So, you will see some characters show up again in another arc, or some details in the previous arc actually impacting the story in a later arc, or some new information complete the previous piece of puzzle. It's a continuous on-going adventure story. But since it's still on-going and the new arc is not yet animated, the story indeed seems a bit fizzle at this stage.

2023-10-29 04:40:02 +0000 UTCI might be wrong, but I don’t think so. Kurapika’s judgement chain just makes you follow his conditions or you’ll die. His conditions were “don’t talk to troupe members” and “don’t use nen.” He doesn’t have the ability to actually take away a person’s nen. That’s why Paku could still use hers but died doing it. That’s the understanding I had, at least. Although, I guess it’s kinda a meaningless distinction considering he can’t use nen regardless.

Kurapika explains Chrollo’s conditions, but he is talking to Paku and asking her acceptance of them, so it can easily look like he’s referring to Paku’s conditions. It’s unfortunately just not the clearest scene when it comes to its setup.

2023-10-29 01:09:12 +0000 UTCI don't think Kurapika undervalues the Troupe's intellect because Melody was just talking about how Kurapika couldn't understand how Paku could be risking everything to save Chrollo. It's basically the same situation with Kurapika because he too wants ppl (Killua/Gon) he cares about back safely. Kurapika has spent many years thinking negatively of the Troupe but now he sees that they are just like him (or at least in the situation I described above). This indicates that despite the heinous things the Troupe does they can still care for their own kind like any normal person.

If that had happened, then Kurapica gets to kill Chrollo exacting his revenge as well getting his friends back. Had the situation been reveresed, I think that is how the Phantom Troupe would have respoded!

Killing Kurapika may cause his Nen to lash out in fury at Chrollo, the target of his hatred, who would be unable to protect himself since he's currently forbidden from using Nen. "Currently" because like Phinks said near the end, there are Nen users capable of undoing that restriction. "East, huh?" Pakunoda was only thankful to the boys because their choice allowed her to save her boss/friend. Given the chance, if Kurapika had no leverage, she'd still murder him and probably the boys in a heartbeat.

Kurapika just put a condition on the judgement chain that is in Chrollo's heart that forbids him from using Nen or else he is gonna die. Most literally exactly like what happened with Pakunoda. he can still use it but he will die immediately, like Paku. What Phinks explained at the end is that if they manage to purge Kurapika's chain in Chrollo's heart then they can take away the condition so Chrollo will be able to use nen again. But if they kill Kurapika, his nen in Chrollo's heart will act up, and since Chrollo cant produce any aura he might just die by the power of Kurapika's residual nen. The only solution is to find a nen exorcist that can purge Kurapika's nen from Chrollo.

The only limitation is he must be in emperor time (scarlet eyes). It’s only Chain jail that’s limited to the spiders. So it doesn’t have to be a spider for judgement chain.

Also, the furtunes have not change actually, Chrollo thinks that it change because of what happen with Hisoka, but he doesn't know that Hisoka's was a false one, up until now the furtunes did become true, Paku's fortune was about her dying, and remember that each verse of the text represented 1 entire week, only the first text was done, they were all on the second one, so I recommend that you guys watch again that scene and compare it with what happen already, it's really interesting.

The same for Chrollo, he is a specialist who can steal techniques, which is also a strong and complex ability, that fits his personality.

2023-10-28 22:09:53 +0000 UTCI loved the ending to this arc, because I normal shonen would end an arc with a big battle and all that. But in this arc, the climax was an exchange. I love how it defies the shonen trope of the final battle. Also, Chrollo cannot use nen ever again and he cannot speak to any of the troupe members ever again because of Kurapika's judgement chain. Kurapika can genuinely set any rule he wants, but it has to be a spider. Pakunoda did not die because she used nen, that rule was not set on her, she died because she revealed information about what had transpired and of Kurapika to the other members.

The condition for Pakunoda's chain is that she cannot reveal anything about Kurapica to the Troupe. She did not die because she used Nen, she died because she revealed info on the events that transpired as well as on Kurapica. If she had not done that, the Troupe would have had a civil war within them as Phinks allowed her to take the hostages on the condition that the boss returns (and he didn't). Also, since the Troups knows that the chain user's Nen is motivated by revenge specifically against them (connecting the dots from 'scarlet eyes'), if they all choose to kill him (since they know about him now, his name, face and somewhat his abilities), his residual Nen (nen after death) will be activated and attack Chrollo, who being without Nen would be unable to defend himself. Residual nen is not for everyone, it can only occur under intense emotions, such as love, hate, malice, etc. towards a specific target.

The writing is so insane and it just keeps building upon itself. These subtle dialogue and character choices are what set this series apart for me
