This is for me Rank 2 of all ATLA episodes, and I'm sure for everyone on a rewatch know which one is Rank 1. What a wonderful show!

2023-11-22 18:38:10 +0000 UTCThe story goes that Mako, the voice actor for Iroh in seasons 1 and 2, recorded "Leaves from the Vine" on his death bed. I don't know how true that story is, but I believe the creators of the show at least knew Mako was dying when they wrote The Tale of Iroh. Greg Baldwin would replace Mako for some minor parts of season 2 that Mako hadn't recorded yet as well as all of season 3, but Greg still treats the voice of Iroh as Mako's role. He was simply brought in because they needed someone as a replacement. He won't even do the voice for fans at conventions or anything since he doesn't consider it his role. He treats Mako and the voice of Iroh with the utmost respect.

I think the way he feels about himself, that all he is good for is to suffer, poisons any new positive relationship he could have. I think it's a bit like the impostor syndrome.

She got a make-a-wish and wanted to go to meet the cast and crew, but the creators wrote that line in for her AND designed the character after her. And she later beat cancer 🎉
